I like King K Rool as much as the next guy but those people haven't played Wonderful 101 have they?
I'm 101% certain a lot of people on /v/ played it, hence why so many people were freaking out over Kamiya visiting one of their threads.

Here's my idea of what a Wonder Red reveal trailer could look like. It's pretty long, so if you'd prefer, I can redraft it with a condensed version. I had a lot of fun writing this, and it's gotten me pretty hype for an actual trailer!

WONDER - TRAILER!

Smash logo appears. Segues into trailer.

Open on a vast cosmic horizon. The scene is tranquil for a few seconds, then the silence is broken by a powerful force flying past the camera. Close-up of four vessels soaring through the cosmos: Kirby's Warp Star, the Falcon Flyer, Samus's Gunship and the SS Dolphin. Pan out to reveal their target: an enormous robot shaped like Ganondorf. Zoom in on Ganondorf, seated in the cockpit within the machine's head. He stares out into space with his arms folded and laughs menacingly.

Music cue: Jergingha - Planet Destruction Form

The interstellar vessels begin their assault on the Ganonbot. They zoom around it from different angles, leaving varying trails in their wake. Camera shifts rapidly between vessels as they soar around the machine, launching ballistics at it and trying to outmaneuver it. The Ganonbot swipes at the vessels haphazardly. Close-up of Kirby, who charges at the machine with a determined expression. As he nears the Ganonbot's head at maximum speeds, the Ganobot's enormous hand appears and swats the Warp Star away. Kirby loses control of the Warp Star and crashes on a chunk of space debris. Cut-in shots of Captain Falcon, Samus and Olimar in their respective vessels, all bearing expressions of shock and horror. They immediately rush to help Kirby.

Return to Ganondorf in the cockpit. He sneers and hits a large red button. Zoom out to show cannons emerging from the Ganonbot's shoulders, which launch a barrage of homing missiles. Close-in of Samus in the cockpit of her Gunship. Zoom in on the control panel, which displays a diagram of the ship and its areas targeted by the missiles, the entire panel flashing red and a siren sounding. Cut back to the battle. Samus pulls her ship away as two missiles catch the Falcon Flyer and the SS Dolphin. In the cockpit, Samus turns to look at her fallen comrades. The ship begins to shake violently and she grunts, clinging onto the control panel and steering the ship with all her might. External shot of the ship crashing into a chunk of debris and bouncing off into the ether. Shot of all four vessels drifting through space in front of the Ganonbot.

Close-up of Ganondorf in the cockpit. He laughs again. Pan out to show the Ganonbot charging a laser from its mouth. Cut-in shots of the heroes with intense expressions, preparing for the final blow. Shot of the Ganonbot from behind, vessels floating in front of it. As Ganondorf's laughter is heard, a tiny gleam of light appears in the distance. Cut back to Ganonbot from the front. As the laser reaches maximum capacity and the Ganobot's head rears back to launch, a voice is heard echoing in the distance:

"UNITE - HAND!"

Kirby, from the chunk of debris, looks up at the source of the voice. Zoom in on an enormous fist, burning with the crimson flames of justice, soaring through space.

"WONDER - PUNCH!"

The fist slams straight into the Ganonbot's face and knocks it backwards with a demonic roar. In the cockpit, Ganondorf grunts and falls to the ground. As he staggers to his feet, he looks out and gasps, an expression of terror on his face. Close-ups of each of the heroes doing the same in turn. Camera returns to Ganonbot, recoiling from the deadly blow, and glaring at the new challenger. Camera turns around to reveal Platinum-Robo with Unite Hand activated. As Unite Hand dissipates, camera zooms in on Wonder Red in the cockpit, looking out at his opponent and smiling triumphantly.

Wonder Red saves the day!

Wonder Red takes the controls and commands Platinum-Robo into battle. Ganondorf does likewise. Extended shot of Platinum-Robo and Ganonbot exchanging blows, camera pans around to show the battle from different angles.

"UNITE - SWORD!"

On cue, a gigantic blue blade appears in Platinum Robo's hand and slices the Ganonbot in half. In the cockpit, Ganondorf grimaces as the machine shakes and shudders madly, and a siren sounds. He moves to take charge of the control panel once again. Rear shot of Platinum-Robo pulling back from the collapsing Ganonbot, its lower half drifting away into space.

"UNITE - GUN!"

Camera pans around to show a huge green gun appearing in Platinum-Robo's hand. A powerful energy bullet is launched straight at Ganonbot's head. Slow profile shot of the bullet piercing Ganonbot's head and the machine exploding. Shot of Ganondorf leaping out of the machine and roaring wildly, pulling his fist back as it burns intensely with dark magic. Close-up shots of the fallen heroes looking on as Wonder Red activates his own Unite Hand and leaps out of Platinum-Robo. Releasing his own awesome battle cry, camera follows Wonder Red as he moves to intercept Ganondorf. As both fists are about to clash, segue into gameplay footage.

Music cue: Tables Turn

Return to Wonder Red and Ganondorf, still engaged in an epic fistfight atop the wreckage of the Ganonot. Wonder Red, clearly exhausted, is finally beaten back by a thrust to the gut from Ganondorf. He collapses to the ground and looks up with his teeth grit and his suit damaged. Close-up of Ganondorf, who laughs wickedly and throws a last devastating dark punch at Wonder Red. As he does so, his fist is intercepted by another stalwart set of heroic knuckles. Pan out to show Captain Falcon, standing in front of the stricken Wonder Red and holding back Ganondorf with all his might. Kirby and Samus run up to Captain Falcon's side and stare intensely at Ganondorf, unwilling to let him touch Wonder Red. As Wonder Red looks at them with a sharp smile, Kirby turns around and smiles at him too. Wonder Red nods and gets to his feet, staring down Ganondorf. Ganondorf snarls and adopts a combative pose. Wonder Red slams his fist against his chest, and his Wonder-Emblem begins to charge with multi-coloured power.

"Looks like diplomacy has failed once again," he says, "Activate Unlimited Form!"

With a cosmos-rending cry, Wonder Red activates his Unlimited Form, and his new allies stand by his side and adopt poses in preparation of battle. Ganondorf laughs and lunges at them, prepared to deal the climactic strike, and Wonder Red points at his diabolical opponent.

"Team - Unite Up!"

"Roger!" the other heroes reply.

Freeze-frame of every combatant about to engage in an epic showdown.

End trailer.

I'd rather not personally. Say what you will, but I am respecting Nintendo's request to have one vote per person and keeping my eternal vote. I don't want to cheat the system by using bots.

It's just not as wonderful.

So, judging by those polls, I get the distinct feeling like this is actually going to happen.

A part of me wonders if Sakurai will decide to pick more than one fighter from the ballot.

Wonder Red is cool.:bluejump:

"But that doesn't change the fact that she would need to be toned down to the point where her character might be ruined. Unlike Snake she'd be A LOT harder to tone down."

Real Talk: Supporting Shantae and Wonder Red is really difficult for some reason. Probably dealing with people that don't understand why I want these two over the likes of Shovel Knight and King K Rool. Its mainly because both deserve it. Shantae has been a franchise that's been loyal to Nintendo and Wonder Red is just too good to not have in. Especially after all the Wonderful 101 representation in Smash. It's my goal to hopefully see them both fight in Smash Bros. (Tokusatsu fanboy and Shantae is my favorite "indie" franchise)

It's alright, I'm sure Kamiya has our back on this!

... Um... I-I can translate this! He is obviously saying "I appreciate the fans voting for Wonder-Red and Bayonetta, now please stop asking me to put them in smash or you will be blocked."

Though I honestly do not have high expectations of his inclusion, I can definitely see how Wonder Red could be a unique fighter, especially if he used other unite abilities. Obviously, his neutral special would probably be Unite Hand. His down special could be Unite Bomb, and his grab could be Unite Whip. Unite Guts could be his shield.

There are just so many possibilities.

Unite Drill Spring
Unite Spikes
Unite Rocket
etc
Red's got a lot of stuff to pull from, he can even use abilities like Wonder Cyclone, Stinger and Rising (which are unlocked after you level him up). In fact, him with those plus the Unite items from the Wonder Mart make more sense then him using Unite Bomb or Whip.

I actually support them all.

Wonder Red is, well, Wonder Red, Shantae is an indie hero and interesting character, K. Rool is one of my favourite and among the most dynamic Nintendo villains and, while I have yet to play his game, Shovel Knight just seems like a hilarious and awesome character.

I don't go by "deserving" or anything, just by what characters I like and think would work. And there are a lot of characters like that.

I'm 101% certain a lot of people on /v/ played it, hence why so many people were freaking out over Kamiya visiting one of their threads.
Wait, when did Kamiya visit /v/ ? I would love to go through the archives and read the stuff he said on the thread.

Wonder-Red, Shovel Knight, and Bandana Waddle Dee are the trifecta of characters I want in smash. And each of them I voted for in the ballot.

All of them have great moveset potential, are modern, and have all been on Nintendo consoles.

In terms of likely hood I would think it would go Wonder Red, Bandana Waddle Dee, Shovel Knight.

Wonder Red already has a trophy, and music from W101 is in the game.

Bandana Waddle Dee is a nintendo owned character.

Shovel Knight is just awesome.

Love this thread! Great job, OP! Was going to vote for Layton or Klonoa until I saw how much force was behind Wonder Red (TBFP and the hashtags have done great work). I love Wonderful 101 and I was surprised that Wonder Red wasn't one of my immediate candidates for who should be included.

I'm keeping my expectations low, but I can't help but feel a bit giddy at the thought of some Platinum Games representation in Smash. Including him in Smash 4 would be the equivalent of the hype my child self would have to see Viewtiful Joe in Brawl.

@ Enyalb Enyalb : Holy Arceus, that's hype incarnate. I suppose people go wild when it comes to Wonderful 101, or Platinum Games in general.

TeamFourStar's Takahata101 supports Wonder Red
https://twitter.com/Takahata101/status/583432750943735809?s=09
EDIT: Seems like Two Best Friends Play are also backing Red.
Unfortunately, GameGrumps is backing up Shovel Knight, so that implies quite the competition between two Let's Play giants. Speaking of Let's Players, I wonder whom Markiplier and Pewdiepie are gonna vote for. I know for a fact that Markiplier reviewed W101 and gave it a 8/10, but there's no indication on his Twitter that he's pro-#WonderRed4Smash.

Yep, he did.
Woah, awesome! Liam from TBFP here! Just wanted to come here and share that we're pushing the hashtag "#WonderRed4Smash", and we're going to blow him up even more with some stuff we have in store. We really want him to make it, so we're going to do our best to get him to the top!
