Zoroark for Smash 4: Deconfirmed... or is it an illusion?

I like Zoraork a good deal and would love him in Smash. Among the lackluster cast of 5th gen pokemon I definitely like his design a lot. Id picture him as more a close-combat aggressive character with some trickster-playstyle aspects.

Genesect because of his movie, and Meowth because he's basicly in almost every episode in the anime and he was planned for smash64. Do you think Zoroark has better chances to get in over them? Any other obstacles for Zoroark? I don't even think there's any pokemon from X+Y getting in the way.

Neither do I. Then again, I expected him to not be likely. Good 8th .ng too, because I hate Zoroark. In the 5th gen Pokemon department, I'd still rather have Victini.

I've been watching a few Pokemon X+Y playthroughs, but haven't done much research other than that. Is Pokemon doing something different, in that it's using the internet to patch more content into it? Since I did hear about a nasty glitch where saving in some places of Lumios city would corrupt your save file. Just the idea of Nintendo actually using patches on any game seems like a foreign concept to me, usually they just remake the game instead. Reguardless, eventually Zoroark will get a mega-evolution, even if we have to wait for the next Pokemon Gen. By that point, the hype about mega evolutions will probably have died down.

I'd wager that the reason Zoroark didn't get a mega evolution (yet?) was because it would probably be a little issue with its Illusion ability. Because it would blow its cover if you were to mega evolve it otherwise. Unless you want to do it or you would only be able to mega evolve Zoroark if it got hit at least once.... :/

That's probably one reason why they chose not to do it.
You do have to press the Mega-evolve button, it's not automatic, so I assume there could be certain strategies that could use this to the user's advantage, and would require the player to read the other player really well.

I don't think Zoroark needs a big beefy mega-evolution anyways. I can only imagine how absurdely large the hair would get at that point. There's a little more than 25 mega-evolutions, adding one more mega-evolution probably wouldn't bring much more attention to zoroark anyways.

No, it is just really hard to hack the 3DS so the ones that are only available via events won't usually be found till the event

A few weeks ago, I formed a theory on MegaEvolutions. It was that Nintendo is going to release Pokémon with Megastones, much like Mega Blazkin with Blazkinite. I imagined this with starters and a few Unova Pokémon. The Latios and Latias Mega Stone data has proven my theory to an extent.

I support Zoroark for Smash, but it is a victim of bad timing. Unlike others, I don't believe a Gen 6 Pokémon will make it into Smash 4. I believe Mewtwo will be added, leaving little room for Zoroark. However, I'd much rather have Zoroark over Victini.

Personally I feel that the Smash Roster MAY have been decided prior to Gen 6 coming out. BUT Pokemon is closer to Nintendo than some franchises, so the whole Mega Mewtwo X/Y thing was probably known prior to it actually being released. Granted, I don't think there's an 'iconic' Gen6 Pokemon like Lucario was to Gen 4 or Mewtwo to Gen1, so our Pokemon SmashReps will undoubtedly be from previous gens ... but at the same time, Mewtwo, Lucario and even Blaziken from Gen 3 (which is getting a lot of love from Nintendo) are more the faces of their Generation than Zoroark was to Gen 5. The hype kind of died with him post-release.

At the same time, I'd love to see it because Illusion and his Dark type would make for an interesting game.

People were always pretty strong about supporting Mewtwo, it was Lucario that had shaky support earlier, and was often interchanged with Zoroark iirc. Though yeah, around when Gen V and Zoroark were the flavor-of-the-month people usually had a five-character Pokemon roster using two of those three interchangeably with Pikachu, Jiggs, and the Trainer.

Then Zoroark waned and Lucario and Mewtwo only got more attention and popularity again.

If Sakurai really does take this whole uniqueness thing seriously then yeah, I suppose Zoroark may still be a good contender of making it into this game as we don't really have a character with a moveset based entirely on illusions and trickery etc. I'd like to believe that Zoroark still has a chance, she's one of my favourite newer pokemon and I'd personally find it a huge shame if such a unique and interesting character had to miss out just because the Pokemon section had already been filled up with the Brawl veterans and Mewtwo. :/

But oh well, I don't know if she can still stand a chance but if Villager and Rosalina are anything to go by, despite how grim things may look for said character, it may be for the best not to give up on them too entirely....

There's no real competiting Pokemon (Mewtwo and Lucario don't count) in the 6th generation, he might've likely went back to 5th generation and checked out all the 5th generation Pokemon, I'm sure he'll find Zoroark very unique.

But, I don't think Jigglypuff or Lucario should be replaced, and that just leaves Mewtwo, which will not be replaced.

Here's another Zoroark-supporter! I agree with the people who say the 6th gen of Pokémon doesn't really have a distinct "face" to it, like Lucario is for the 4th gen (well, nowadays for the whole franchise really haha), so I'm thinking they'll try and represent the newest generation with mainly Mega evolutions somehow, and the obvious Pokéball Pokémon and stages. Low and behold, we have the option for Lucario to go Mega and maybe Mewtwo is a possibility as well, so I'm thinking that'll somehow do it for 6th gen, if they can make it work. Unless they do something with the starters.

That said, I think there's room for a completely new and fresh Pokémon-character, which I hope would be Zoroark. The thing is, though, that Zoroark never really reached the level of popularity which I personally wish it would have, and there are a few Pokémon which could possibly be better choices (Blaziken has always been popular and is relevant again because of Mega evolution, Meowth is another choice which I guess is always a possibility because of its active coverage). Then again, popularity doesn't always seem to be a major thing when selecting characters, and Zoroark is still one of the more recognizable ones... also in addition to having the looks, it has the uniqueness appeal to it, which seems to be a key factor nowadays. Zoroark could still be considered as one of the newer additions to Pokémon even with the 6th gen already out, so if they want to keep things fresh and not go with characters which date years and years back, Zoroark would be an ideal choice. Sure, I may be a bit biased as I just love the thing... and not only would the inclusion of Zoroark in Smash Bros. give it more fans (it's basically a given that characters become somewhat popular when in the game haha!), but also a nod to the newer generations of Pokémon.

But to be fair and realistic, I think Lucario will return and I just have this gut feeling that Mewtwo will make a comeback as well, so that would make five Pokémon characters in total (with the obvious Pikachu, Pokémon Trainer and Jigglypuff, with the trainer having at least three separate fighters as well), so a 6th one might be a bit too much, no matter how big, popular and "deserving" Pokémon is seen as a franchise. Still keeping my fingers crossed!

I support Zoroark, mostly because of Rosalina.
Sakurai clearly wants unique and original newcomers, and Zoroark screams that.
Only problem is that I want Lucario and Mewtwo more.
Ideally, I'd like the roster to be;
-Pikachu

-Zoroark
-Pkmn Trainer

REALISTICALLY, however, I think we won't get Lucatwoark, and that Jiggs will return.
