I'm surprised his buffs are glossed over on youtube videos and smashboards, like his Nair has lower landing lag so he gains new combo's/strings.
Swordsman chars and Ryu stole the spot light, then its Charizard and Falco. No one cares about Lucas tho.
MKs like that middle child, parents spoil the youngest and put responsibility on the oldest and MK is just...there. :[
Or he's being ignored because people are afraid. People see Ito's Meta Knight probably believe it's just Ito's who's good or that there's some kind of gimmick or even worse: California is a free region.
Then there's misinformation and ignoring information. Remember this video?
Really? Windbox on Falco's Nair? Nothing on Ike's jab connecting better and allowing him to jab repeat better? Bowser's Utilt change, DK's cargo throw changes, and Mewtwo's Nair reduced landing lag, are enough to let them be here? If that's such such a low bar, then Zelda's stronger Up Smash and Nair change should guarantee her a spot in that video. Oh, and let's not forget how Greninja's already a threat, but a buff to his Ftilt is what makes him a "hidden boss".
Nothing against the video maker, but personally, the patch only made Charizard, Ike, Link, Marth/Lucina, and Meta Knight even stronger threats. Falco? Falco got a safer air with more reliable Nair, faster Fair and Uair, and Dair that cannot be teched if he hits you on the ground. That's it. He didn't get heat-seeking lasers for his U- and B-throw, he didn't get end lag changes to his Blaster, and his Falco Phantasm I believe actually became worse since the extra 1 frame startup might have screwed the already screwed hitbox - I think there's a blind-spot behind him now meaning the move hits mostly center with blind-spots in front and behind him. Really? No patches have altered weight, fall speed, air speed, etc., so Falco's mobility issues still stand. He's just a safer character which will alter his MUs, but not to the extent the others listed did. Falco's changes are more in line with Zelda's, really, where they function better, but not perform noticeably better than before. So, if Zelda's Ftilt was changed to be faster and deal more shield damage, that's performing better as she would have a strong shield pressure tool compared to Up Smash kills better. Well, how do you get people into her Up Smash aside from reads or punishes? Or if Falco could act out of jab 1 and/or jab 2 faster like in Brawl, that would mean he could confirm into tilts, grab, and Smashes faster. Basically, a hit confirm. Compared to Fair having significantly reduced landing lag, but still having noticeable landing lag. Now, if it auto-cancelled whenever... that would be stupid, but huge as Falco could put out slightly disjointed, lingering hitboxes whenever.
Charizard swapped kill throws between U-throw and D-throw; D-throw allows him to combo now and the ways U-throw can kill is just stupid. Never go Halberd, Delfino, or Duck Hunt against Charizard. Ike not only became safer with reduced landing lag on Nair, Uair, and Dair, reduced startup on Dash Attack, Ftilt, and Fair, but his Dash Attack kills, Ftilt is a faster, disjointed spacing tool that does a consistent 12%, Fair can hit above him now, and his jab can be repeated or linked faster. He's not just safer, but stronger and faster. Link's D-throw setting up in followups is good along with the progressive buffs to his Spin Attack, Dtilt's faster startup, and the Clawshot's hitbox actually matching the animation? Link was already good, but now he's safer and his throw game is more useful. Marth and Lucina having jab's angle change basically allows them to confirm into stupid setups like Side Smash and Dolphin Slash which for Marth is huge considering how strong tipper Side Smash is. And Meta Knight... He's like a high tier who got buffed with a safer jab, lower ending lag on Nair, and stronger Ftilt. Not game-changing, but a strong character doesn't need massive buffs. He's just more potent.
