Eh I wouldn't call Marvel's handling of female heroes "very well." Black Widow was not handled well in the new Avenger's movie in my opinion. Maybe "passable" is better because their competition is just so bad they look amazing by comparison.

Agent Carter was great though.

They need to try harder. I'm not impressed by their effort level lol. But maybe I just have high standards since I'm not a huge comic/superhero fan.

Tbh I think Black Widow was fine in the new film.

The whole deal where people think her getting a romantic subplot in AoU is sexist is kinda stupid. They complain that it's sexist that she gets a love story, as if being a female superhero immediately prohibits you from having a love story because you stop being cool if you fall in love, apparently. Someone even went to the extent of saying that now that she's in love with a guy "she obviously belongs to him and is dominated." I was like what. Since when does falling in love equals being someone's possession. I mean I know where that comment comes from, but where in the movie is it suggested that Banner now owns her? Nothing like that is ever mentioned at any point. It's even worse because this time around Black Widow was literally the character that got the most development in the whole movie.

And in the end, even though yeah, she gets this romantic subplot, she ends up putting it aside in favor of superheroic ass-kicking anyways, and goes so far as to push banner off a cliff so that he can transport her into the city battle. She's also the only one, save for Captain America, that stays in the team by the end, even though she had a good reason to leave to try and search for Hulk. I dunno about you but to me this means she's more committed to superheroics than to "her man."

I've also heard complaints about when she says she's a monster because she was sterilized, but I think that's just putting that scene out of context. She was just mind-***** by the Witch, and she's also referring to how she was raised to be an assassin and nothing else. She's literally trying to humanize herself and people don't cut her some slack, man. Although I agree that the word "monster" is probably not the best choice in the context of that particular scene, it's also a narrative tool because Hulk and monsters and etc.

It's also ironic that people are complaning that "OF COURSE THE WOMAN HAS A LOVE STORY" because literally everyone else on the team has a love story of some sort that was central to their movies, with Captain and Carter, Iron Man and Peggy, Thor with Jane, and Hulk I dunno, I don't care about Hulk much tbh .

I won't say they don't need to try harder, but honestly people don't see that this is an advance,as little as it is. It's good that they're trying, because that means they're noticing about these issues in an industry that's incredibly behind in terms of non-white male inclusion. Evolution and change aren't things that happen overnight, you know.

Oh the lack of Black Widow merch is total bull****, though. That one part is an example of how segregated the comic culture is, and how even the tiniest of steps towards change are monumental.

Oh, the whole thing with Widow being used to advance Banner's development... totally disagree. I think it was done the other way around, and that Banner was used to advance HER development instead. Literally nothing changed about Banner, because he's always been like he was in the film. With Widow, though, we get a glimpse of her past, we see her doubting herself and her profession, and we see her coming through it all in the end. She's basically the character that gets the most development in the whole film.

Okay, so, I see I'm still like... AT THE VERY LEAST 10 hours of actual gameplay away from finishing the story. What should I do, try and get the game again or keep on watching?

Gave up doing Classic Mode with one hand lmao. Because you could use a Smash attack with A+B, I actually managed to get all the way to Master hand with Jiggs and home run bat before dying. That was after like 4 tries of dying on the 2nd stage or something because lol one hand

I don't think her getting a romantic subplot is inherently bad, but I thought it was handled so poorly. It seemed out of place and it was awkward. For me, it has nothing to do with him "owning" her; to me, she was used to further Banner's development more than anything, and other character development potential was wasted.

The sterilization scene was worded and framed very poorly. Why was there no contesting it? And in the comics there is scene where she actually picks up Thor's hammer showing she is worthy, but in the movie she conveniently passes up the opportunity to show it. That wouldn't be so bad if she didn't get the whole "I'm a monster"/ I have "no place in the world" subplot. In the comics she comes to realize that she is worthy and proves it to the readers - and proves that she is more worthy than the men on her team who failed to pick up the hammer. Such a great opportunity was wasted (one that would fit perfectly with the character development they started and didn't resolve).

I don't really see what other character development she got that we didn't already know. Maybe her handling wasn't as bad as I originally framed it, but it certainly wasn't good by any standards. And other characters didn't need to get much development because they've already had plenty of it in their own movie franchises that have multiple movies. If you look at each member of the team, she is probably one of the least developed and is used as a supporting character more often than naught.

There are lot of stupid complaints made about her in the movie - I've seen people complain about the dress she was wearing at the party which is stupid - but she remains the only one of her team that isn't developed well. Before I would have said that Hawkeye was in the same boat but he actually got good screen time and development in this movie to make up for it.

Compared to her male teammates, her handling is lackluster. Which is terrible considering she is one of only two female members, and was the only one until now.

Don't get me wrong: I like Black Widow and she has a lot of positive traits, but she's not used well.

I don't really want to get into a long debate, but I'm not happy with Marvel's usage of her and female characters in general.
I have high standards and often look at things from a gender studies lens even without trying, which probably makes my opinion harsher than necessary.

I wish I could see her actual hitbubbles and Luma's too. Rosalina has freaking disjoint on her disjoint.
Plus Link is such a terribly designed character. Why does he even have a sword and clawshot when characters without weapons or tethers have better reach that him?! He has terrible mobility and a frame 7 jab that clacks with frame 1 jabs and then his jab gets nerfed.
Stat-wise SSB4 Link is better but in how he preforms SSBB Link is better (which is saying a lot). Link is actually more of a punching bag in SSB4 and lost a lot of his ATs.

I've usually been indifferent but this one looks so FUN and not at all as bland as others are to me.
Colors are great.
