Well based on the trailers and screenshots the only noticeable change to DK is that grounded DK Helicopter hits at an angle now, and despite that, my post about the Wii U allowing them to release balance patches pretty much renders your argument moot.
I wasn't really talking about balance, I was just saying you assumed DK played exactly the same. It's not just about how moves work, but the physics of the game as well. No one but the development team has played the game and knows how the physics work, so you can't really just say DK needs major buffs in SSB4 without first playing the game. It's entirely possible with different physics that DK has improved, so really only the dev team can make balancing choices at this point. When we consumers get to play it, then we can make decisions about buffs and nerfs.

If there are going to be balance patches* I wouldn't worry too much about what they're saying about DK right now. Assuming they have good data for the patches and they're thinking about more skilled players in their balancing, if DK's too weak he should get buffed later.

*Perhaps based on data collected from online matches? It'd be really cool if they had stats for all the characters in the game based on all online (and offline?) match data.

The stat nerd in me would love it if they collected and released such data.

Yeah your right, with patches we shouldn't really be worried with balance at the moment.
The dev team should still be concerned at the moment though, there should at least be some balance when the game releases. Plus that will also reduce the amount of work they have to do after the game is released.

I probably should've clarified that they were considering nerfing DK in Smash 4 based on how he was in Brawl.

No, but even if it were I highly doubt different physics would be enough to improve DK because he's bad in every Smash game except P:M.
What do balance patches have to do with their argument at all? Also where did they say anything about wanting to nerf DK? (I'm not disbelieving just curious).

Anyways $100 is an incredibly small price to pay for a playable character but it also an amount of money I straight up don't have to spend so no.
Strong Bad told me he read it on Kotaku, if I remember correctly. I just took his word for it because it sounded like something Sakurai would do.

I would pay $100 to guarantee Banjo & Kazooie, just because I think they're the most deserving characters with the least chance of actually making it in, but I somehow doubt Nintendo is going to jump into negotiations with Microsoft just because some random guy from the US offered them a whole hundred bucks :p

Other characters I would considering paying for, in no particular order: Paper Mario, Tetra, Little Mac, Prince Fluff, Krystal, Tactician/Robin, Claus, Isaac, Takamaru, Geno, Bomberman, Quote, Gilius Thunderhead, and just for the hell of it, Roger Jr. from Tekken, because kickboxing Kangaroo mother/son duo, why not!

Based on the quote, they are considering balancing DK based on the current build os SSB4.
Well I stand corrected, but that's still a backwards way of thinking, just because a character is strong doesn't make them good that just means they need one or two less hard reads to get a kill, Ganon was super strong in Brawl and he's the worst character in the game. Also the battle records are not a good method of approaching balance either, for all they know the DK testers could just be better players than the rest of them. I'm not saying DK 100% doesn't need to be nerfed, I'm just saying there's a lot of things they aren't taking into consideration.

Oh ok. I still think that that we can't really judge at the moment. Strong could be intended to mean good, but it could like you said just mean that, powerful moves. We also don't really know the exact methods of balancing being used, looking at results could just be one method, it could also be the only method they are using. It's not uncommon for people to not divulge everybit of information.

I would pay $100 to guarantee Banjo & Kazooie!
I would pay to give Nintendo the rights to Banjo-Kazooie. I recall reading about some ex-Rare devs making a Banjo-Tooie spiritual successor, so they could hopefully make a Banjo-Threeie.

Now see when I read this I thought you meant OC's so I said no because I don't really have any OC's I would consider worth putting in smash. As for just characters I want I would still say no because take it or leave it I'm sure the game will have lots of fun characters.

Too late. I already slipped him a benjamin and told him to make sure Mario would be in it. Looks like I was successful!

I'd pay $100 for Rosalina, even though she might already be in.
I'd also probably pay $100 for Mewtwo or Spyro/Cynder.

Yes , i would pay that much to see the doctor get in in here
11.5 alt costumes. I could get behind that. Though his speed is determined by if he is running towards or away from the enemy... his running away speed is MUCH faster.

I'd pay whatever it takes including physical favors for:

1. K. Rool
2. Takamaru
3. Little Mac

Anything less and the deals off.

I would easily pay $100 if that includes characters of your own creation. It costs thousands of dollars to create a character for a mostly unknown indie game (via kickstarter rewards I have come across). The value of this transaction is enormous.

I probably would if it was a sure thing that they would be playable and I knew for certain that I was dealing with Sakurai and not a faker.

Not even so much because of the characters...but because 100 wouldn't be much to have influence/power over a game people will be playing for years.

If Brawl's taught us anything, why have one landmaster when you could have three? A landmaster moveset sort of like Ice Climbers, only it's three landmasters. Brilliant.
$3500. Worth every penny.

As for my own request, I'd immortalize my own fictional self in Smash if that was an option. Otherwise, Ridley if he's not already in.

Id' pay $200 dollars for Lyn and to guarantee Chrom isn't in. Maybe I could get lucky and have a $250 value pack with Roy added!

What if that other 200 dollars makes an original character named "Not Chrom" happen?

... Actually that'd be funny for any character.

... I'd pay $500 for melee 2.0.
I'd make sure you'd be dead before handing over the money, and use those 500$ to ensure another Subspace Emissary :D
Edit: Oh, and OcarinaofDoom, you sure you want a minor character instead of the PROTAGONIST of the best FE?

Seeing as Rosalina is playable, I might as well switch to paying $100 to request Bowser Jr.'s playable inclusion (if that's even permitted).
