I have very little faith in the Smash 4 team's concept of balance. Last I heard they wanted to nerf DK because everyone else always loses to the DK mains among the developers. Of course if they actually payed attention to the community they'd realize that DK is and always has been a terrible character and needs buffs.
The thing is, the game is still in development. They may have decided Donkey Kong needs to be nerfed in some areas, but they may very well change their minds and could have very well already buffed him in other areas. And Donkey Kong's quality as a character is not the sole indicator of balance.
I know, that was just an example of their backwards way of thinking because using only your co-workers as a gauge without taking into consideration past games and the community's opinion of a character is not the right way to go about balancing said character. Especially since now the Wii U allows them to release balance patches so they can wait to gauge the community's reactions to decided whether or not a character needs buffed or nerfed.
Past games didn't really even take co-workers into consideration. At least two of the games were balanced single-handedly if I remember correctly.
For all you know in that build of the game DK could be more broken than Meta Knight. You're just assuming DK plays exactly the same as before when he could be completely different.
