Wiz Kick Cancelled Speed Hugging

I'm not sure if this is known, but I think it's pretty awesome. First, if you don't know, you can speed hug by running off the edge and immediately pushing the control stick down and away from the ledge; 45 degrees down and to the right if your running off the right ledge, for instance. A Wiz Kick Cancelled Speed Hug is really simple if you know that. You Wiz Kick off the ledge so that your lag is canceled, with (I think) the same spacing you would use to slide off the edge and stage spike a ledge grabber with UAir or BAir.

To try it yourself, roll to the ledge. Then roll twice back into the stage. This will set you up with the correct distance to cancel the Wiz Kick. There's some range of flexibility in the spacing from the ledge, but since I can't make a video, this is how I can explain it. Perform a Wiz Kick, and as soon as you pass over the ledge, push the control stick down and away at 45 degrees, the same way you would in order to speed hug. Viola!

If it's not new, hopefully it's at least helpful to those who didn't know it. I find the Wiz Kick to UAir/BAir a really great tactic and I get stage spikes with some frequency. I like knowing I can hug to edge hog also as it gives you an extra option.

I'm technically a Snake main, but I love Ganon's playstyle so I'm relatively new to him.

This is helpful.

Side note: you can do a TON of awesome moves out of Wiz Kick Cancel. Pretty much every aerial attack has a significant use out of a Wiz Kick Cancel, and if you can read your opponents, you can land some nasty KOs by exploiting this during their recovery.

I never knew about this concept of the Wizard Foot Cancel. It's a great thing to know.

and what can I say, Ganon's edgeguarding is one of my favorite parts about him.

Yep, it's almost always his fastest way to get to the edge and get a move out. I like to keep up pressure when you've got a ledge hanger. Get in there with a WKC -> BAir/UAir -> Single Jump Ledge Grab to avoid RCO Lag via Up B -> Ledge Grab. If you connect between them and the ledge with a UAir, you'll get them with the front end of the UAir attack and send them far down to the bottom corner of the screen, which will put most characters in an impossible recovery situation.

Wizkick canceling is extremely useful. If the opponent is at low % (0-40ish), and he's standing between you and the edge, let the wizkick fly if you have the proper spacing for it to cancel over the edge. I get at least one early KO every 10 games or so (often more) from Wizkick Cancel -> spike. Doesn't seem like a lot, but I don't think you'll be saying that when you 0-to-death them in two moves.

Learn the spacing and practice this technique! It is a huge life saver (or shall I say--life ENDER).

Something else you should do with Wizard Kick is use it's speed to chase your opponent(s), rather then jog yourself to him/her or them. It's a lot faster and efficient.

Yeah, Wizard Kick hugging is pretty useful, plays a edge mind game with your opponent.

Rolling from the ledge and rolling back once into the stage also gives you the correct distance for a Wizkick cancel, if you're using ledge mindgames, that is.
Any spacing inside of two rolls from the ledge causes a cancel which is different than the cancel I'm referring to for the hug. Anything inside of two rolls will cause ganon to do a roll out animation out of which you can jump and perform aerials for edge guarding.

I think something else that should be mentioned is if you're too near to the edge to perform a Wizkick Cancel a faster way of speed hugging is just to do a Gerudo and hold backwards. Ganon actually grabs the ledge before starting his falling animation so its relatively safe.

I will almost never use this technique. It's unnecessarily risky. If your opponent gets there before you do, you're dead. No questions asked. Fall special -> death. I'd rather perform any variation of a legitimate edge guard, not put myself needlessly at risk. Just my opinion, though. Twilight prince DID edge guard me once in some dittos we did yesterday using this, but gimping Ganon and gimping Meta are two very different games.

Yeah, that's good.

If you didn't know, you can (and should) buffer your aerials out this cancel. Not only will the move come out as soon as possible, but it will also, for instance, allow you to DAir a ledge grabber without fast falling. Pretty dope.

I personally prefer UAir or FAir out of it, considering the only thing you can't hit is the ledge you just left UAir literally has 360 protection massive hitbox and good KO power. FAir is slow as hell but at least it has KO power and a nasty hit angle, DAir though you're still pretty vulnerable and is only a good idea if you're guaranteed the spike.
