Will we see the entire roster?

I just thought of this after posting in the "next new character update" thread thing. By December 3rd, will we have a pretty good idea who will be in the game? Both regular and locked characters?

I personally hope not. Would add more surprise upon actually unlocking the characters. However, if Sakurai doesn't announce Sonic before then - people will be sending him death letters to him.

I'm all for hearing about every character. Spoilers dont bother me, and I think if spoilers bother someone, they should probably stay away from the brawl forums and the dojo

Spoilers shouldn't be a big deal, it's a fighting game...

And the majority of people buying smash aren't going to visit the website every day like smashboards people do...

So, view smashbros at your own risk...hopefully they will have everything by the 3rd of december.

I'd actually do anything to know the whole roster, i'd even put my feet in quick-dry cement to know exactly how many characters are going to be in the game.

I really hope he doesn't reveal too much now. This seems like a pretty huge week, probably cut it back down next week. But i'm too am looking for the element of surprise. I was very shocked when I unlocked G&W. Had no idea who he was. Still don't know who he was.
Marth and Roy shocked me too, cause I never heard of Fire Emblem yet Marth quickly became one of my favourite characters, and topped my no.1 pick. Poor Link.

First Fox knocks his *** off the top for Smash Bros. 64.
Then Marth knocks him off for Melee.

Link was my starting favourite for both games. Who will knock him off this time? or will he stand tall? His chances are looking slim. I can't wait for Ike. Pit and Metaknight look really good too. Snake doesn't look bad either.
I really hope Sonic's in though(not hoping to bring up discussion), and i'm hoping that Megaman is also making the cut. Though Capcom could surprise us with Ryu or Chun Li.

A lot of updates to go, more than 40 so why not?? I actually wouldn't mind there's more to smash than the characters. We'll find out about everybody when the games out. Besides it gives time for people to decide who may be the best character for them.

I am not sure how the website went before Brawl, but it would be pretty likely that he does what he did for Melee, as far as unveiling characters goes.

Well.. can't say if they will or won't release the entire roster. I'm on the side thats hoping that they do. But I am guessing that they will release maybe 50-70% of the characters (If there are 40 than around 20-28).

I want to feel that "OMG" feeling when you get a challenger and its someone you didn't know about. It's real surprising and satisfying when you beat the living crap out of them and unlock them.

I would agree with the sudden Challenger Approaching Screen, it got me a few times...when I did not know what I was doing (Very Beginnings). But still knowing the whole roster would be nice, so we can seperate the impossibles and ins.

We've had approximately one character update a week, haven't we? So there's what, maybe 16-18 weeks until December 3rd...I think they'll release most of the characters, but leave a couple of big surprises for when we actually get our hands on the game.

The suprise element is mostly going to be their...I do not think Sakuri would spoil a suprise, afterall he tends to create discussions on forums like this with mysterious updates anyways.

At this stage, I'm sure that Sakurai and the rest of the dev team approve of the rumours, because they're generating hype for the game. Maybe after the game is released, we'll see him saying 'No, [name] is NOT in the game, please stop asking...'

Many people on these boards are die-hard fans of a series. If they find one of those... blackened pictures that look lke their favorite character, they will spoil it immediately with a thread with "(name) is Confirmed!" as the title. EX: if a Sonic silhouette were to appear, someone would know that is him. Know one looks exactly like Sonic, so it would be easy to spot who he is.

We knew all of the characters several days before Melee released here, because Japan got it about a week before us. Many, but not all, of the characters were revealed by Sakurai himself in the weeks leading up to Melee release. The only characters I think that we didn't know about were those like Mewtwo, Marth, Game & Watch, and several others.

As soon as Smash Bros. come out in Japan, I'm going to try to avoid the internet as much as possible. I don't want any of the unlockable characters spoiled for me.

But there are still many things sakurai is going to post. Final smashes, stages, trophys, the storyline for subspace, ATs, pokeballs, and other items. Characters aren't the only spoilers.
