oh please you mentioned a bunch of crap counter arguements that are irrelevant. and you knew exactly what I mean with the last one. you were just tyring to sound smart. anyway Zelda doesnt need to rely on Shiek and she shouldnt. Sakurai has made changes to each character so im sure Zelda will be more able. she doenst need a new moveset in order to get rid of sheik. enduring popularity? oh yeah vanishing in and out and looking like a ninja can sooo make someone liked and very popular.you can try to defend Shiek as much as you want but she's still and will always be a character that didnt do anything for the Zelda series. and shouldnt be represented in brawl in any playable form.

ICs are good against Sheik because her grab game is very, very good for comboing and can easily lead to large amounts of damage before the enemy manages to escape. Ice Climbers are tough to grab because unless the Sheik player can seperate them before attempting a grab, he'll be taking a hammer to the face.

I don't know about Mewtwo being a good counterpick. I've never had trouble with Mewtwo with my Sheik. Then again, I haven't played anyone with a really good Mewtwo.

And yeah, I was just making a point about Sheik only being able to be killed by characters higher in the tier than her. ICs are lower tier than Sheik, but they're still pretty high up there. You're right though. A good IC player can easily crush some of the higher tier characters.
Agreed but Mewtwo totally kicks her *** more...

You say that a "good" IC player can crush higher tier characters...does that include "good" high tier character players? Sheik may be considered "top tier" but she truely isn't...The only reason she is considered that is because she is so easy to get "good" with and one of the simplest characters when it comes to being "good" with. This makes for alot of "mainers" hence bringing alot of sucess in tourneys ect, with her. But really, she loses more than she wins...she's just EVERYWHERE when it comes to "competitive" play so she's seems "good" compared to the other characters. If you take the proportions of success rates with every charater (EXCLUSIVELY WITH THE VERY TOP PLAYERS WITH THOSE CHARACTERS AT THEIR BEST) she really isn't "up there". All those Sheik mainers, all seem to main Sheik, but she's the secondary choice in most cases. If everyone spent as much time with her (in bed)...lol ... as other characters, they'd all be better with many other characters than they would be with her... But if they spent that much time with other characters, and everybody who mained them learned from eachother, ect, ect...Than half the characters in the game would be considered top tier.

Yeah, Mewtwo players are rare, maybe good ol' Youtube has something? lol
Mewtwo's wavedashing (IC's too) totally throws sheiks short range and grabs off. Mewtwo's throws kill Sheik when she's got low damage and his (its) tail keeps her at bay. Sheik needs to dash at her opponent and Mewtwo takes it away with ease.

They could just take away Sheik and pass out her good attacks to some of the new characters.
That's probably the best bet...

Right here with you... in your heart.

Actually, it's called wit.

anyway Zelda doesnt need to rely on Shiek and she shouldnt. Sakurai has made changes to each character so im sure Zelda will be more able. she doenst need a new moveset in order to get rid of sheik.
But if Sakurai does make Zelda more capable in Brawl, as we all seem to believe, then Zelda relying on Sheik will cease to be a problem. Better balancing can solve almost all of the existing problems between Sheik and Zelda.

enduring popularity? oh yeah vanishing in and out and looking like a ninja can sooo make someone liked and very popular.you can try to defend Shiek as much as you want but she's still and will always be a character that didnt do anything for the Zelda series. and shouldnt be represented in brawl in any playable form.
Um, perhaps you haven't noticed, but the fact that we're here right now nine years later still talking about Sheik is proof of her popularity. And try talking to some Zelda fans who don't play smash bros; I have, and every single one of them is STILL absolutely enamored with Sheik. She's popular. Yeah she only gave you some songs, game wise, but story wise Sheik was the biggest plot twist in the game, right up there with Link awakening seven years older. And those songs she gave you are really popular among Zelda fans.

Besides, Sheik is already in smash bros. Not only that, she and Zelda are so far the only example of a freely transformable character, which is an absolutely awesome mechanic that could be truly great if only it was balanced a little better. And I for one hope to see that mechanic play out the way it was meant to in Brawl.

Duh obcourse were talking about shiek, shes in MELEE, and we are curios if shes in brawl, shes only popular smash-wise, zelda-wise, tingle beats the crap out of her...

U want a transforming character? bowser jr>shadow mario there...

obviously people will know sheik, she was part of the greatest game of all time, its hard NOT to know her, but her ROLE (he most important aspect to take in consideration) is very minor, all she gave was a few songs, woo pee doo... ZELDA is an important character, SHIEK the later ego of OoT zelda, isnt...

How about Inky and Blinky with Pinky and Sue as transformable lol
jk spam...

Sheik isn't a great big monster or an imortal phenominon like a Zelda Link or Ganon, but neither is Midna...And she's getting just as much attention as anyone! Sheik was a HUGE slap in the face in OoT and is now iconic for what she did in her admittedly small roll proportionally to the enormous franchise she belongs to. Either way, Sheik fit well the the Smash Bros roster and will fit in well again (if she returns) so I look foward to seeing the "actual" decision on her. And Zelda was great in melee, even without the "transfoming" mechanism, she'll be great again.

I don't have the link, however someone posted a link to i think it was IGN or somthing, they talked to one of the artists for brawl, who let slip they had worked on a shiek model.

It was in this forum a week or so ago, but I can't find the thread.

When it comes down to it. The people who want Sheik to stay in, like her because she is an ungodly fighter. No one really likes Sheik as a character. It's like Marth. He is just a guy with a sword and a princess tiara, but since he was such a good fighter, he became popular. Sheik has no place in Brawl.

Check Page 21 of this thread, Shine-Fu. You'll see. Anyways, it looks like from the article, Sheik is coming. For me, it doesn't matter much. For you guys that hate Shiek, mu ha ha ha ha ha!

i liked her as a character, she was great in OoT. i don't play the zelda duo often however, so i don't care if she is in or not.

The article said:
So they submitted the initial designs, and so it would fit in the Smash Bros. Brawl environment, they’ve had to tweak some of the designs.
They submitted them, but it doesnt mean theyre confirmed, they could have just made shieks design, but Sakurai is the one that gives the final word on shiek's inclusion...

it can go either way, but again:
TP zelda transforming into her alter ego from her past form hundreds of years when OoT takes is ********...

Good characters are always more popular than ****ty ones. That's how it goes with all games.

I liked Marth even before I knew how strong he could be, when I first started playing Melee. I didn't even notice he wore a tiara until my brother pointed it out to me a few years later.
