Oh man that would feel so weird seeing the game move just like you hand moving. I even got a mental picture of how this could work. Of course this doesn't do you all no good but try to follow me:
Imagine the power glove. Now put a port on the top toward the elbow the would attach to the controller.
Now when you play, the controller feeds the game the position of the glove but as well as what the positoin your fingers are in as well. This could easly be done with both hands, just need 2 controllers and left and right gloves.

ATTACHEMENTS/EXTENSIONS
Here is the question: Are the extensions gonna be just nunchaku and shell, or maybe some gun ones too, or pratically a new one for each game? Being Nintendo, the family- and wallet- friendly company, I'd say #2.
Try not to tell the moderator of the room how to post. That may be seen as disrespect.

Well, he's right, you just did it again. Gaah! I'm only adding fuel to the fire!!! NOO!

Ok to cover it up.
Just in: Unreal 3 for all three next-gen consoles. Yes thats right, even for the revolution! I've seen how insane Unreal is, just think of what going to go down with the Revo!

Speaking first person shooters, I would love to be able to use the DS as a controller for FPS. Not use the DS screens for gaming but as the controller itself. I loved the stylus controll in Metriod Prime Hunters and how smooth it was to aim. I think it would be great to use this smoothness in console gaming as well.

Link?

If true, (and online VS capable between systems) that could be the killer app- Convince X-players and PS junkies that all the graphics in the world doesn't help you if the other guy's got a better control scheme.

Metroid Prime Hunter's controls are terrible. It doesn't matter which set up I use, it's just too weird. I'd much rather use a regular controller... after that the light-gun-like feature... and in last place, the DS touchscreen.

I haven't played it. :(
Sorry Osco, I didn't see you were a mod. :embarrass
Kaid has a good point: who cares about graphics when the other guy just points and shoots, while you have to scroll across the screen? There is a big difference.

At first, I expect the X players and PS junkies to fork over the cash to get the pretty versions... I just expect them to get mad when the 'kiddy console' gives so many nubs better aim then them.

"Dude, Nerf Rev!" (or whatever it ends up being called) could become a common complaint on message boards.

It's wierd, yeah, but when you get used to it, it's rather good. But it's still better to use a controller pad, imo.

I'd love to see some cross-platform online gaming, but complaints about one console or another having an unfair advantage (read: better control setup) would cause too much cross-platform rivalry for it to last wrong.

Pretty soon, people would start TKing anyone who used a Revolution, just on principle, because I'm sure the game would have listed what console you're on next to your user name.

I'd let the Revo users get together and take 'em on. If we can get the accuracy of a real gun with a controller, Revo users could hit vital areas alot easier than the other console controllers. I've always hated using two sticks to aim because when I just want the cursor just a little bit, it jumps right over my target. Or in somecases the cursor doesn't move fast enough. Now with the revo controller, it would be easier to shoot anywhere on the screen without the lag or jumpyness. Hopefully we'll still have a cursor with the revo controller games. I'd still like to have a super scope add-on that would shoot a big-beamy-thingy!

I've played through the demo quite a few times and still can't stand them. =\

Deo, what games did you play that had a stuttery cross hair? Halo's is very smooth. TimeSplitter's is smooth as well. You just have to know how much to push the joystick.

That has been annoying the hell out of me with every shooter this Generation that I've played. The crosshairs in Goldeneye and PD moved very fast, which meant if you wanted to aim at someone, you could quickly move to the person. This gen, they just crawled along, lettng the person you're trying to aim at get a few good bullets in you.. Very annoying.

^On one hand, fast cursors will zoom past your target. On the other, slow cursors are just... slow. Sure, there will be misses due to human error, but I think the Revo controller will offer the best accuracy. And we may never see auto-aim again.

Well, PD and Goldeneye also had massive amounts of auto aim. You would turn, and your guns would turn as well with the auto aim just so they'd be pointing at an enemy. If PD and Goldeneye had no auto aim... they would've been not so much fun.

I remember how you could walk in the last level and let auto-aim do most of the work... it was good, but a little TOO good, as in you only had to aim sometimes for sniping. Ah well. Good times anyway.

True, but not what I meant. When you held down R (or was it L? Both?) you had the manual Aiming. That was so much better. And yes, it was easy to zoom past your target, but with practise you didn't. Plus moving really fast is a lot more realistic than taking 5 seconds to move your gun about 10 centermetres.

I basicly had the same feelings about FPS cursor aiming as Mic 128. I can't really recall a precise FPS game wher I had this problem, but sometimes these problems came up in just about most I've played. The only FPS that I've really enjoyed, for it's shooting, is Metriod Prime Hunters: First Hunt. I really liked using the stylus mode to move my cursor around. It was reactive and as fast as I needed it to be. The other stylus use was the touch and shoot mode, which would be so cheap if this is taken in console gaming. It has it's drawbacks but simply touching your opponent made you shoot directly at it would just be some darn cheap against someone using todays controllers.

I'm hearing lots of people wondering if the Rev. controller will make the current standard for controllers feel archaic.

I mean, when I pick up an NES controller, it feels so...stupid.
And we have been using the exact same basic controller ever since the NES started the gamepad trend.
Not that gamepads are bad...

I think that if Nintendo can pull off every goal they're aiming for, they may wind up in 1st place this time around. Buit that's a lot of things to pull off.
Someone said he thought this would be Nintendo's last console. However, this guy has been working on Duke Nuken Forever for a bazillion years--a game for a dying PC market of FPS games. Not that PC is bad for FPS, because it's wonderful. It's just not as big for making money as consoler are now.

*sigh*
GDC is coming up real soon, right?

Whats GDC?

I think Nintendo gots what it takes to pull this off. I told my cousin today about the Revolution. He's knows about the Xbox360 and thinks he wants one. But then I told him about the Revolution and what it could do. I showed him the controller and told him that it was motion sensitive, tilt sensitive, distant sensitive, the backwards catalouge, the add-on feature, and the light-gun feature. After that he seemed interested in it. I also showed him my DS and he enjoyed that as well.
I think Nintendo can pull this rabbit out of the hat with fireworks and dancing Gorons.

I'm actually gonna agree with Cashed (lol) about Metroid Prime Hunter's controls. Perhaps I just didn't spend enough time with the game, or perhaps I'm wayyyy too used to traditional FPS setups, but the control was awful. I'm talking literally unplayable using the stylus.

Yeah, Stylus control is horible. I used the thumbstrap and buttons(strafe, fward, back).

GDC is March 20-24 at San Jose, California

How did I control that game...? Well, R was shoot, I know that, and I didn't use the stylus. I would have to tap the ball-missle button with my thumb, though...

I am hoping they can sort out a better control scheme for Hunters by release, because it will really need one for competetive play.

The GDC is an interesting conference, and, usually, something is revealed there. For example, we got our second Twilight Princess trailer there.

It's possible that Nintendo will reveal something interesting there to tide us over until E3--keep our interested piqued, and all.

the stylus worked fine for me. In fact, i was able to chain all my hits perfectly until i got to the boss in Regulator. It was like 64x640 before I missed or something like that. Best way to do it is always reset your pin/nub back in the center of your screen if your using stylus mode. I let my cousin play it a couple days ago, who which has never even seen a DS before let alone use one, and he was able to play it just fine until he got to the jumping parts then he ran out of time. For someone whose never played a DS before did just fine. Maybe Stylus FPS isn't just your guys cup of tea, eh?

OK guys, I just thought of something. We already have the "spectator" idea, right? Well, how about instead of chatting with text, you use a mic! I just got a new one for like $15-$20 and it's very good. Imagine discussing Ken's strategies with him as he plays. Of course, the players might find it distracting, so they can Mute it.

I like it. But what would be even cooler is if you go to a differnt country, say a Japan server, and if you cant understand what anyone is saying, translated text would appear on the screen if you wanted. THAT would be awsoume because I don't understand Japanesse one bit except for Konichiwa and Syanora (HI and BYE). And if people don't have a Mic or choose not to use one, they could use thier DS to send text messages.....Well heck! Why not just have the DS for all communication uses? It already has a mic and keypad. And the revolution is going to be compatable with the DS, so why not?

Because not everybody has a DS, nor would anybody want to pay $129.99 to communicate. I say build the **** thing in and save us the trouble of buying peripherals, Nintendo.

What say the rest of you? Would you prefer a built-in mic, or a (probably wired given the 360's) headset?

That's like saying you dont want to spend $100 just to play crystal chronicals multiplayer. If you have it, you get extra content. (in this case Audio-Pictochat) That's it. You don't need to talk with your opponent to fight with him.

My idea with the DS is for those who have a DS. You wouldn't buy a DS just for communication uses, you'd want to buy it for games as well. IF you have the DS, then you should be able to use it communication wise with the Revolution.

I don't want to spend $100 to play Crystal Chronicles multiplayer. If a game has chat ability it should not be limited to people who own a DS.

EDIT: My post count just reminded me of Dominos.

You thought of this? I swear voice chat has been mentioned millions of times already. Infact, I know it was, because we had a discussion awhile back about annoying people when everyone has mics and how quite a few people just didn't want voice chat because they didn't remember about a mute function.

Dang, I was hoping no one would notice.
Why not just download Teamspeak onto your computer, and use that to talk when playing? Cheaper than buying a voicechat option or subscription. (teamspeak is freeware).

PS, if my posts seem messed up blame my optical mouse.

Err... why not have it built into the games and the system itself? The Rev isn't connected to your computer... and if TeamSpeak is on your computer and you're playing on the Rev that just wouldn't work.

You might have to pay more for the programming/hardware. And why can't you use the computer and Rev at the same time, like if you have a laptop? Talk into the laptop mic and play on the Rev, you don't have to connect them.

You aren't using the computer and the Rev at the same time. If you're using the monitor to play, that's all you're using. The computer itself isn't on, just the monitor. To have a program running on a PC and being used by the Rev would be ridiculous.

Cashed, he means bringing his laptop infront of his TV so he can play the rev with Teamspeak running on his comp.

Built in voice chat would be a lot simplar though.

^ nailed it Mic. :)
I don't really know how much it would cost for voicechat to be built in. TS is free, but it is for computers. Can it just be modified? and btw, my TV doesn't have headphone and mike ports. If they do make a voicechat app, I think it would be killer to call it the Vox Populi. :nerd:
If you know what that is, you can recognize me for the nerd I am.
If you don't, that means my SAT scores will pwn yours.

Seriously, Zink, what the hell are you smoking? So if I want to experience voice chat over Rev's online interface, I have to run third-party freeware on my PC WHILE I'm playing? That's assuming I have a laptop nearby, so I'll need to boot that up as well so I can use its mic and I'll have to make sure to plug it in so I don't run down the battery. And if I don't have a laptop, but a desktop, instead, and if I have said desktop in say, THE OTHER ROOM, I'm kinda screwed.
