Anyone in the Platteville area? I'd like to get better at the game but there's no events (outside of Plattecon) where anyone plays that I'm aware of.

As far as I'm aware, the closest scene you're gonna get to play in WI is probably Madison. If there's anything closer, it'll be on you to track them down cause I don't know.

Anywho, I'm back boys!

edit: Also, I'll see about getting Steven's Point down to Madison for one of the next IMDB's. Our scene has been getting pretty good so hopefully we'll present a good challenge to you guys. :D

I recommend anyone that is new to the scene to check out the 'Wisconsin Smash Bros' FB group to contact us.
Most of us don't really use Smashboards very often.

How can a state be PM and Melee only. That makes no sense.

You're referring to a state as "them." Now do you see what I'm getting at? Your idea of what "Wisconsin" feels about Smash 4 is only represented by the activities of the people in the facebook page you linked me to. In reality, people of Wisconsin are playing Smash 4 and they are liking it. They just have not organized yet.

Your post didn't help me at all, luckily I found something good after some digging in that facebook page.

you are allowed to play whatever game you want.
Melee and PM are presently the strongest competitive communities in the region partly because the games are more conducive to higher levels of play but largely because melee players have been by far the most proactive.
If you want to build a community around your game, doesn't matter which one, melee or otherwise, this group is a fantastic hub to do so and no one is going to stop you but you actually have to do it. Host fests, host tournaments, start discussions.
Just like getting good. This group was made to offer resources, not hand-holding.

What I like about S4 so far.
-Ledge mechanic I think could be very interesting. I think character's with infinite reecoveries could attempt to "recover" to the ledge at the time another character attempts to get to the ledge. This way by the time the other character gets there the get booted of the ledge. And, they are in a good position to attempt to 2nd jump aerial or something of the sort.
-Air dodge now having more lag on ground makes it much easier to punish. 10 frame lag compared to like 2 or 4.

To all newer people:

This thread has been pretty dead for a while (as has most of Smashboards) but if you look on Facebook you can find the WI Smash Group and other good resources for smashers. It doesn't matter if you like Smash 4, PM, Melee, whatever - you can find someone who will play your game of choice with you. Get out there and play in person! If you can, come to smashfests and tournaments. It's the best way to learn and improve. Hope to see lots of new faces soon!

With over 140 people registered for the great Revival this weekend in WI, things are looking great for the MW so far and we expect things to be just as crazy up in MN with the Warehouse Throwdown 3.1415!!!

The 2nd leg of the circuit is in S. St. Cloud, MN on March 14th 2015. Registration will end March 6th at 11:59 pm (DIFFERENT THAN POSTED AS OF THIS POST), and the venue fee will increase by $5 on Feb 21st.

Please come support the midwest and celebrate PI day the right way.
