This is a smash forum, if theres anywhere that could pull it off, it would be here. Not only is there enough interest in 64, it would generate even more.

Agreed or disagreed?

We've lobbied for our own section before. They don't seem to care.

Ssb64 is greatly discriminated against on here!

melee and brawl people just dont want ssb64 to become amazingly popular, thus no backroom

Well I see how they could be helpful in developing 1 character............. but I kind of like sifting through it all for the answer that I am looking for...... idk, the process makes me learn a lot more then what my original search was for. I can see more sectioning being a good thing for sorting reasons, and great way to direct people for help. But would enough people contribute for each character? Do you really want a forum about the kirby up-tilt as a broadcast out to all the players who seek it? lolz lolz.

But anyway, I think its a good idea, you would have a lot of work ahead of you though.

12 subforums seems like overkill if we don't get our own section

just the one character forum would be okay, but it wouldn't do much to help ssb64's appeal or popularity >_>

This.

To add, yes, Smash 64 doesn't have as many players as it used to (This game is still **** though IMO), and periodically, if the activity increases, and more players come in, i'm sure MLG would consider adding character boards.

I'm pretty sure we had Brooms, but they were deleted. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Edit: Not to mention most Backrooms are kinda dead anyway, so it'd be something short of a waste.

when did smash 64 ever have more players than it does now?

this game essntially has more people now than it ever had, due to the spreading popularity of online play

I think backrooms are kinda stupid and a backroom for 64 is really not needed.
Character specific isnt needed too.
However, what about an own 64 section

Lmao, true, very true.
It's gotten generally more activity since online was introduced (And the speed is incredible).
But can vaguely agree that it isn't TOO big of a community, at least not big enough to make backrooms and such.

Again, we may have a lot of people that still play 64, but i don't think it's enough to actually divide it into it's own sub-forums.
Besides, we're good with the current level of placement on the boards, at least IMO.

ssb64 is its own smash game like melee and brawl. We should have our own section because 64 is a smash game. not grouped with lighthouse and ****.

Can people not see WHY smash 64 hasn't got many players?

'Oh look smash 64 isn't good enough to have its own section looks like its a NOVELTY'
'Seems smash 64 is on the level of POKEMON when it comes to relevance to smash'
'Hey look smash 64 wasn't a serious game since its grouped with the NINTENDO FRANCHISES on a SMASH BROTHERS site looks like we cant take it seriously'

if nobody takes the first step we won't make progress

i realise this is only one site but competitive melee and brawl players are a big pool of people interested in smash to recruit from

Yeah forreal, in melee when I wanted to look into a character more I would ask questions on their boards or just browse. This forum (The biggest smash community out there) discourages that. If this website doesnt cater to 64, nobody will. Now of all times, 64 is surging in popularity due to online, and many people initially playing for the nostalgia and realizing its a deep game.

I remember there being character boards and a whole forums for 64 a couple years ago before Brawl came out. Either I imagined this, or they replaced 64 with brawl : /

I think you imagined it.

Ssb64 hasn't had it's own section since the summer of 05 when I found smashboards.

Idea, could we have are own sub-forms (One character sub forum that covers all twelve and one "Open" Back room)? Surely that is not to much to ask for.

I don't think many people are THAT dumb. I think the 64 community isn't larger because people won't even give competetive 64 a chance. I'll be the first to admit I didn't expect too much from 64 when I started playing it in January 2009, but I immediately fell in love with it.

well we certainly can't rely on that, now can we

the issue of visibility too will mean bored people browsing will likely not find it (case in point: nobody visits the come here first thread).

what i want to know is why we haven't got our own section when it wouldn't be much of a hassle at all.

No offense, but i just don't think the Smash 64 scene is actually big enough for its own sectioning away from general gaming discussion(s). Even having something like a 64BRoom would be something of a hassle without enough people to manage.
The board is somewhat mediocre on members and regulars (even though it seems like a lot), but i don't think it's enough to get MLG to change up the boards again.

Sorry if anyone is offended by this post.

Edit: Also, can someone please explain what having our own section would do for us? I haven't heard any legit benefits.

Respect I see as a big factor. It shouldn't be in General Gaming because it's not a general game. It's a Super Smash Bros. game which is what the whole point of the site is about. "We can't have our own section because we don't have enough members, and we don't have enough members because we don't have our own section." It seems like an infinite loop.

That seems like an issue.

It's basically about this:

______________________________________________________
SMASHBOARDS (MAIN PAGE)

stuff
stuff
stuff
---------------------
SSB Brawl section
---------------------
stuff

stuff

---------------------
SSB Melee section
---------------------

General Gaming
SSB64 <-------------------------------- wut
Pokemon
Zelda
Mario

______________________________________________________

and remember, SSB64 is as important as melee and brawl (if not more) because its the first. There would be no melee or brawl without the massive success that SSB64 was

Smash 64 not having its own section is dumb. This is a smash website for the 3 smash games. 64 was the first. Many people play it, and as nixxxon said without it, it woudn't be melee or brawl. What more do we need to do, to get away from general gaming discussion. Its nothing but stupid.

TOTALLY /signed for our own section. I've frequently asked for this with only replies of "we'll see what we can do" and what not... I mean we don't need to be on top of the page but at least just under melee would make complete sense.

I would also love a backroom... if i were invited to the party of course.

And I would also be for character boards but as it has been pointed out before, would further divide us unnecessarily =/ Maybe if we get our own section (which should have been implemented from the start) and a backroom and then we get enough people to at least discuss characters specifically we can think about character specific boards within...

PLEASE: OUR OWN SECTION or I'll RAWRRRR bite your head off.

Because Melee and Brawl still have a very large (if not dense) population of competitive players. Smash 64 still gets played, but you don't see too many tournaments hosting Smash 64 as an option.
Sure it doesn't seem like it's suited for the General Gaming section, but unless it had its own section, where else would we put it?

It's basically about this:

______________________________________________________
SMASHBOARDS (MAIN PAGE)

We're not necessarily talking about how massive a success Smash 64 turned out to be, leading to its successors. We're talking about why it should have its own section. Since i believe we are still learning about all 3 installations, i don't see why we couldn't have character boards within the Smash 64 section, but i don't think it needs to be its own big section outside of General Gaming. Unless you were hoping it could go somewhere else?

Either way, i think Brawl and Melee are the two that contain the more dense competitive scene throughout, leaving them of more importance to the boards. Not trying to say Smash 64 is being shunned, but maybe it's just another mater of fact or opinion.

Smash 64 not having its own section is dumb. This is a smash website for the 3 smash games. 64 was the first. Many people play it, and as nixxxon said without it, it woudn't be melee or brawl. What more do we need to do, to get away from general gaming discussion. Its nothing but stupid.
Note that the title of this entire sub-forum is "General Gaming and Smash 64." They've taken note that Smash 64 and its players still exist, so calling it stupid is just a bit harsh.

Edit: Also, i'm pretty sure if we did get our own section, the demand for a new backroom would also arise. Just more and more service will come of this, if it goes through.

I just complained in the smashboards questions and suggestions thread.

Everyone go support me.
Don't complain. You should ask questions rather than trying to make people rant MLG to making a new section.

No thnx.

We've been "asking" why we don't have our own section for years. Their answers = we don't care.
