Why is my DAC...falling short?

Hey I have a bit of a noob question...

I know how to DAC (Dash Attack Cancel), but it's strange because the actual distance I'm getting with it seems to be random...

Sometimes, I can DAC half way accross FD, other times it only goes some of the way.

I've seen videos of people DACing pretty **** far with link, what am I doing wrong?

Your distance will differ depending on when you cancel the dash attack. Link's movement will slow during his dash attack, so the earlier you cancel, the further you will slide.
