Why don't they take out characters that weren't in Melee?

I'm assuming you think the missing Brawl characters are being replaced to add Roy and Mewtwo? They just haven't been added yet, and the new characters are using the clone engine, thus not taking the spot of any vanilla Brawl characters.

Samus, Yoshi, Ice Climbers, Olimar, and Kirby are currently unfinished due to technical difficulties, that's why they aren't in 2.6. That being said, this thread should probably be locked.

Hold your stallions Jim-Billy-Bob-Joe-Phil-Milly!!!!!!!!!!!
Project M is not finished. All the Brawl Cast, and the Melee to Brawl Vets, will be returning. Roy and Mewtwo replace no one, and are simply added by exploiting the "Forbidden 7" character data leftovers. Roy and Mewtwo wouldn't be considered unless they could be added without tampering with the character selection from Brawl. And besides, Project M Wario, Ike, Metaknght etc are beyond incredible to play.

I am predicting a disturbance in this thread, something mod related, something........Alakadoofy....

Just wondering why they take out characters like Samus instead of characters like Wario.
I facepalmed, but allow me to give you a proper answer :
1) P:M is not Melee with pretty graphics. It is a new game altogether. This means new stages, new ATs, and new characters. Among many other things. If Melee is often compared to an iceberg you only the tip of from the outside, P:M is the whole ****ing Antarctic.
2) P:M is not finished, and some Melee veterans are not finished yet. Right now, the only two Melee veterans that have not been confirmed as either a new character or an alternate costume for another character are Pichu and Young Link. The others like Samus and Kirby are under construction.

The question has been answered, leave the thread and op alone guys. None of you are being very kind or welcoming.

Well, sorry, I guess I don't know anything about Project M.
Please read up a bit more on it before making another, then. Hopefully we can save everybody some time.

Thanks everybody for not turning this into too much of a roast.

Closing. :alakadoof:
