I haven't noticed much of an improvement with using Flash Media Encoder.

Tried Justin.tv and notice a huge improvement in quality but if you broadcast at a high bandwidth rate, a lot of people will lag behind (as much as 5 min) from the current stream position. (Commentator: "Hey, if you hear me, say 'hi there!'" 5 min later, chatroom: "hi there!")

Livestream...they have flashy stuff but it seems a bit too complicated for most people.

#1 way to increase live stream quality: stop trying to use ****ty little laptops to do the streaming. It's not an easy operation and unless you have a powerful computer and know how to run it (closing down all your little desktop widgets and whatever) then your stream is always going to suck.

majority of webcams do blow major chunks unless u can afford the stuff EVO does... same goes for capture devices and stuff... be lucky this isn't street fighter where even then u had to pump out hundreds for a HDMI capture card just to stream 1 thing for a few hours

plus... u need uber good internet around and a computer that doesn't suck... if all else just grow up and go to a tourney rather than relying on stuff like this... it's like watching college football and always wanting to see Florida **** faces left and right like it's MK

Saying that is just crap and hypocrit. What about viewers that check the stream overseas?
What about players that live on the other coast and only travell from coast to coast for large tourney's?

Not to forget that if these streams get better it's a great way to get outsiders interested in the smash scene cause there watching something LIVE! I know so many sports that suck when you watch them back but just because they are live are exciting and memorable.

Atleast we are making attempts at this and are trying to find cheap efficient ways to achieve this.

And even if the streams suck it's still better then nothing....

Brawl tournaments definitely need improved livestream. Street Fighter matches and commentary are streamed and recorded with outstanding quality and clarity. It would be nice if the Smash community could mimic this.

From what i've seen livestream raaaaaaaaaaaaapes ustream and justin tv.
The more the quality, the more bandwidth it'll take.

I hear people promising good, clear-quality livestreaming the day before the tourney only to end up with a cheap laptop that has poor WiFi reception and lagging video.
