I think people just like to think that the Japanese all play with honor. Whether they do or not, I can't say, but I do think people just like the novelty of the idea.

People who still think japan plays with honor definitely hasn't played or heard from japan since like oct '08. Rather, that's when I first started seeing through the lies.

Honestly, I've been having a hard time with this recently.
I really want a character that I can fall back on, because i looked at the screen yesterday and realized I couldn't sufficiently use another character.

But I also want a good character I can use in sets if i fell the need to.
I don't want to use MK, because so many people in this area have so much experience against him.
Not Snake, because I can't use him sufficiently with my play style.
Suggestions?

Zero Suit Samus shares a lot of the same weaknesses and strengths as Olimar does. She also has a vaguely similar spacing game... Lot's of fun, unpunishable moves on block, but very punishable if the opponent knows it's coming- Olimar in a nutshell. <.<

If you put work into her you may find her helpful. *shrugs*

King DeDeDe maybe?
Yes yes yes yes yes. This is my secondary actually and it works really well for Olimar.

Okay, I'm thinking of closing this thread and having someone (or myself i guess) actually make a thread that actually discusses which characters are good and how good they are as sides for Olimar, and actually make progress in the topic instead of it being a social thread with one subject. We've gotten to the point of repeating things and that just makes this thread pointless. It was started by someone that disappeared anyways. Or I could just change the ownership of this thread to someone else that wouldn't mind taking care of it. Either way.

mk as a secondary covers pretty much all bad matchups, the only problem being that most top players have a metaknight "plan" similar to that of a spacies "plan" in melee
People who use MK are shameless anyway... :ohwell: considering that 40 something % of the people on these boards are pro-banning meta knight... (His worst matchup is what? 55-45?)

I'm actually picking up DDD as a third/high tier second. I looked at the roster, realizing that I don't play as him much, even on random. I tried him out and liked it, so I'm training myself. I might also pick up C Falcon for the lulz. :p

I hate threads about secondaries. They stay active forever cause every few days some random person comes in and posts about their secondary. Then it keeps popping up under my subscriptions list and it annoys me. Especially since within the first few posts the topic is answered, and the question isn't even worth while of a whole thread. I wish threads like this got closed.

This is not aimed at anyone who's posted in this thread by the way. And I guess I'm kind off a hypocrite. >.>

:lick:

Someone needs to take this thread now and make it more beneficial for the boards.

Just a Tad off topic, though I pertains to post just made(don't really know how a quote would work on this phone.)
But, I've honestly had enough calling people who use mk shameless. There's different reasons people use mk.
Maybe they enjoy mk, and said they were going to use him before they game even came out.
Maybe they've been using him since the.game came out and are'nt gonna change because people call him, and his character cheap.
Or maybe they are sick and tired of weekend after.weekend putting money in someones pocket, just to seehow they "stack up" against the competition. Maybe they want their money back, and they'll be ****ed if they let character ability get in their way.
None of those are shameless, and ill be glad when people take the "honor" gloves off, and use every tact available to them to win.

I have nothing against playing to win, but I still don't like when people CP MK for said purpose.
I still don't understand why you continually express your deep character loyalty in a competitive gaming forum...

This isn't a highschool video game club, buddy.

Based on what has been posted in this topic (and some that hasn't), it seems that the most popular secondaries for Olimar are Dedede (~10.7%), Marth (~8.9%) and Falco/I.Cs (~7.1%).
Not useful data, but kind of funny to see that so many gravitate toward grabby characters.

I can express my loyalty to my character and my dislike of other people's lack of loyalty in a competitive forum.

Competitive means desiring to compete or succeed. I wish to compete and succeed with Olimar.

Just remember that, in the end, SSB is a game just played for fun. I would personally get bored if I never stepped out of my comfort zone by playing other characters as well.

Ideally if you are playing competitively the best thing would be to get good with the majority of the cast so you have a counter pick on almost everyone.
Personally i like the idea of representing a specific character. To me picking a main is like picking a cast member that most depicts myself and my personality and then getting good with that character so they become top tier. You should also have a lot of fun playing your main

But most high-level players specialize in only one to three characters, no?
Having loads of counter-pick characters is spreading yourself too thin.

I would imagine you would only need to pick 3 S or A tier characters to cover the majority of match ups.
But you are right. In the end it wont matter what character your playing if your skills are sub pare. That is prolly why most of the top players stick with one character and get pro with them.
