As of right now, Samus is the only character I have even a remote interest in, and she's probably just going to be nearly exactly the same as her previous incarnations.

While this installment has introduced a few new and "interesting" playstyles, I'm not interested enough in any of them to overcome my absolute lack of interest in the characters themselves. I like maining characters I actually like because I can pair my skill with said character with a desire for him/her to win simply because I like them. None of the cast has given me that feeling.

Between you and me, I am still a bit worried.

I play ranged characters myself. Link was the only good one in SSB64 (more so in the Japanese version), and Samus replaced him for me in SSBM. When I got cozy with Samus, they absolutely wrecked her missiles in Brawl. If they still suck in SSB4, I am afraid I am going to have to take my business elsewhere.

Mega Man is looking to be the mobile, mid-ranged specialist compared to others. Doesn't interest me. I want to camp.
Villager may or may not be good. We'll have to see more.
I never tried getting into Snake in Brawl. Whether or not he returns or his moveset is given to someone else, I would like to give it a shot.

I dearly so hope that if Link or Samus does not work out, they don't leave me hangin' again. Maybe Robin or Palutena will be the answer to my prayers.

I will main Pichu if he is confirmed if course. But actually Pikachu I guess. We will see when we get to play the game.

I am not entirely sure, if the speculation in regards to the roster (minimal cuts, minimal newcomers) is actually true, I will probably switch all of my mains as I am not an advocate of playing the same game over and over again. Currently, I plan to main the "usuals."

Obviously Peach, Zelda, Jigglypuff, Samus (both forms) and Kirby for the Veterans. (Bowser too, but I wouldn't consider him a main unless he doesn't get bodied like his previous incarnations).

As for Newcomers, well. Wii Fit Trainer seems like a good troll character, Megaman because I like the character and that's it for the confirmed people.

If Toad / Waddle Dee / Krystal somehow make it, they'll definitely reach the top too, especially Toad.

In terms of newcomers its looking like I'll be playing Villager with a side of Little Mac. If Andy is confirmed however those two will be secondary.

Veteran-wise I look forward to any other buffs Ness, Kirby, and Yoshi might get.

Confirmed veterans: I'll give everyone a test run since most of them will play differently than before. Bowser, Samus, Zelda and Donkey Kong look like they've gotten some neat buffs so I'm excited to play as them. Usually in past installments Link was fairly used by me, so he (and Toon Link) will probably be a priority again. Otherwise I've always liked Marth and Sheik.

Unconfirmed veterans: Need my Jiggs. Wolf would be a nice bonus too. A reworked Ganondorf would be hype and if Dr. Mario comes back however unlikely it is I'll take him. Otherwise Pichu would be fun to use just to tease people with it. But I'll try everyone else in this category as well.

Newcomers: I like the look of Rosalina, always liked her in her many appearances and her moveset seems to have a learning curve which I'm relishing. The rest I'll have to try out first.

Easily Luigi will be my ultimate main.
Of the other veterans, I will try to co-main Pit (to see if his changes are to my liking) and Meta Knight (if he doesn't have too many nerfs).
Newcomers... I might co-main Little Mac if I like his play style. If he is in this game, then maybe Shulk.

1)- I wanted Little Mac in ever since SSB4 and he looks so powerful :D
2)- He was my Y starter and quite possibly my favorite Water Pokemon so far
3)- He looks so fun to use and he's so adorable!
4)- Pikmin is one of my favorite games of all time and he was my Brawl main! His buffs make him look better too
5)- His enormous buffs make him look like BIS Bowser and he will finally feel evil and not clunky >

Jesse McCloud here, and after perusing many of the character-specific sub-forums, I've yet to see a forum like this; that is, a forum specifically for discussing who you plan to main, and why.

Please note this is not a character matchup/balance/speculation discussion. Please limit your selection to confirmed characters. If the poster above you is looking forward to playing as Little Mac because DAT KO PUNCH, that is his/her right. Please don't start any flame wars.

To get things started: I'm looking forward to playing as Greninja, because I've been hoping for a new ninja-esque character, and Sheik just wasn't rushdown enough for me. Also, that plushie substitute!

Now, let's get this party started!

MEGA MAN WITHOUT A DOUBT! On top of being one of my favorite characters of all time, his move set seems incredibly unique and versatile. And my god, that down spike will just eradicate low recovery's.

I'm interested in trying out Greninja, Little Mac and Villager, but none of the newcomers are screaming 'New Main/Secondary' to me thus far.

I can speculate for days about who I'd like best. However, there are so many characters who at least appear to have had some drastic changes, so my opinion on them could change a lot from Brawl.

That being said, I think all the newcomers save Megaman look pretty fun. As for veterans, I'm not sure yet, but the updated Luigi, Yoshi, Kirby, and Diddy Kong still don't look like they're up my alley.

Although, if Falco comes back, I'll probably just main him like I've been doing since Melee.

I'm really looking forward to , , and for veterans (buffs ftw), and to a lesser degree .

For known newcomers, the only one that 'pops' for me is . For shoo ins, Palutena, Shulk, and one of Chrom & Robin (whichever gets in) are characters I'm going to try. I'll also give Ridley and Bandanna Dee go's if they appear. I'll whittle down those 8-10 down to a more manageable number to play competently after release, as I play.

Just out of curiosity, what about Megaman doesn't appeal to you?

For sure, I'll main Zelda. It's been like this since the release of Melee and nothing will change this. Plus, her new-down B is a good reason to keep maining her. I'll also main the rest of the Zelda cast as well.

About newcommers... I guess it's going to be Rosalina, but WFT and Villager are close seconds. Rosalina as her gameplay seems fun, and I like her. WFT because of the troll character and Villager because I like Animal Crossing.



By the way, I think playing/maining a character should be a question of affinity between the player and the character, not the tier list, ect... But that's maybe because I'm not a competitive player
