Rationally, you can justify suicide KO'ing someone anytime you have a higher percent than they do
Or anytime they're on their last stock
Or anytime you're winning

Or really anytime you want to. I've found that I sometimes get caught up in the rush of the combo and wind up suicide KO'ing to finish it, even if I'm losing/on my last stock

But this leads me to my question of, when is it okay to get the kamikaze ko?
AS_MUCH_AS_POSSIBLE

try to break the soul of your opponents, then proceed to victory.

idk man kamikaze is just lame in my opinion. It's like you just gave up a stock because you couldn't win otherwise. It's a ponce move.
It's friendlies, you shouldn't care too much about the victory, that's the point. How would it show that i'm unable to win if it isn't in an actual beneficial situation for me anyway? (Of course it *could* be in my scenario, but it wasn't a requirment)

Saying that you have less skill because of getting kills by sacrificing your own stock also just sounds wrong to me though. It's a stock you may just lose without getting the kill too, depending on how safe your kamikaze is. I especially think it takes a whole lot of guts going for it on your last stock even if you're behind percent-wise especially if it wasn't a certain recovery on your opponents end otherwise. You just sound salty, and I doubt many feel like you on this subject...

Edit:
"That is the stupidest thing I've heard in a while. Kirby swallowing people up and fast falling to his death for a suicide kill takes no strategy/perception. Along with many other characters such as DK, who just has to grab someone."
This is hardly the situations people are thinking of, nor is a low-tier characters options all that important :p
It also isn't all that easy to get that kirbycide (or DK grab) on people. If someone falls for a kirbycide when they have an advantage/any time at all then either they deserved to die from it or the kirby player is incredible smart - it wouldn't definetly take skill to net an advantagous kirbycide against a good player.
But yeah I think you have to think more along the lines of normal edgeguards where you extend so far that you're not going to live from the attack yourself.

Your fallacy is that you think Super Smash Bros. Melee is about "showing skill" (or "strategy/perception"). It's not. It's a competitive game, hence the point of playing is to win. In order to win you have to capitalize on your opponent's mistakes and press the advantage once you gain it.
If you're not doing any of these, you're not actually fulfilling the purpose or point of the game. This is just fine if you don't care about that sort of thing, but don't try to tell people they're somehow playing the game wrong when they're just doing whatever they can to gain the upper hand.

If it ends in a knee, it should be encouraged.

Seriously though, what everybody else said.

No. If it ends with a falcon punch. Seriously, you can never recover from those. Might as well wreck some *****es with it and die too.
