I'd like to say Stage Builder, but my scepticism for it's inclusion stretched so far that I never even considered it. The update was a complete surprise to me.
Sonic and Ice Climbers, definitely. Also Game & Watch, if the icon theory is to believed. Additionally, the Subspace Emissary. I could understand people's plight for a decent single player adventure, but I thought it'd never happen and that it was too hard to achieve. Well, was I wrong or what.

I didn't think that ZSS would be used after Samus' final smash, I was pro for ZSS being an independant character.

The only thing that got confirmed that I didn't think would happen was 3rd party characters.
A bunch of other things caught me off guard, but I honestly thought Sonic, let alone Snake, wouldn't make it.

Ditto. When I saw that update I thought: WTF? Am I on the rong site, or has Sakurai gone insane?
But now that I realize it, his character design is cool and unique, and he will probably be the one of the first characters I play as.

I find it ironic that someone that references G&W and Pichu in their name says that the ICs suck.
I'm really glad they're back. They're arguable the most unique characters in Melee and now they're back with some more buttkickery.

Where? That stupid radio rumor with ICs, G&W, and YL out for Ridley, Bowser Jr., and TWW Link? That was proven fake lightyears ago....

Sure...when the ICs were confirmed...
Besides, who the hell even knows how much of the rest of it was true? Hero of Winds could still be in (which I find likely, though I doubt Bowser Jr. will be anything more than an AT and have no opinion of Ridley), and it's not too unlikely that G&W is out as well as YL.

Try a few weeks after it was made when the creator of the rumor admitted he faked it.
Sure, the content may have still come true, but to do what you did as "Sakurai said it" is just dumb.
Also, G&W could still be in. Icon theory and Japan's most wanted to stay poll give him a boost.

I know the Hero of Winds is A Young Link, but he's not the Young Link, the Hero of Time, the one from Melee. As far as I know, Hero of Winds was more requested than the return of Young Link, a clone of Link. Besides, I'm pretty sure Sakurai also stated that all clones would be removed or decloned.
And here's the difference: Hero of Winds looks different and could have a very different moveset. You said it yourself.

Eh, the Young Link thing is just a pipe dream of mine. Sakurai said the characters in Smash represent themselves throughout their series as a whole, not just the game their model came from. He said this with specific reference to Link to answer why Adult Link could use the Boomerang in Smash64. I applied this idea to making Young Link draw his moveset from all his games (TWW, Oracles, ALttP, TMC, OoT, etc.) so that Young Link represents Zelda as a whole where as Link reps the new Zelda. It's nothing important, just a pipe dream of mine.
If TWW Link gets in, I'll be happier than no Young Link at all.

Actually, I don't know that I can truthfully say that. I desperately want Hero of Winds in, and unless he sucks, I will definitely end up maining him.
