lol, no, either you'll save her later or nintendo will do a branching story line and you'll unlock characters by saving them(in addition to other ways) but you won't find what happens to the others. Then what would be the point in replaying what's likely to be not a very long story mode?

Transported into Subspace by subspace bomb. You save her very late in the Adventure inside of Subspace. That's my thought anyway.

Although, for comic effect, it WOULD be cool if Petey just ate her and you fight him later in the game and he spits her out when you beat him.

I dont think so, its still possible for a T rated game.
Im assuming you havent played Crash: Tag Team Racing, but Crash is eaten (several times), blown up, shreded, and ripped limb from limb.
....
It was rated E10+

So basically, if the unfortunate damsel is simply swallowed with no blood or gore, its definitely okay for a T game.
