What the??? Switching Characters while Brawling

I was playing online, then all of sudden me and somebody switched characters
i was playing marth and the other person was playing snake
if you dont believe me ask jakescakes or shinola.
have this ever happened to any of you?
perhaps it was the legendary pokemon
