Personally, I believe the misconception about the pink gravity suit in SM is the same when I thought the power suit was green; the lighting throughout the game can slightly alter the appearance. I.e. directly on the landing, the suit is clearly yellow, when you enter a low-light area, like Crateria at the start of the game, it has more of a greenish tint to it. Same thing seems to apply to the Gravity suit.

You're clever and funny. Have you ever played either of those two games? It's purple in the ending screens of ZM. It's pink in gameplay.
i have played and beaten both... the thing is, i'd seen purple samus before that, and heard it called the gravity suit, so when i see it i just assume it's purple. it IS pretty pink, looking at those sprites... but judging by the artwork at the end of zero mission, i think it's safe to assume it was MEANT to look purple. again, it DOES look pink in gameplay for ZM and SM, but i ASSUME it was meant to be purple based on the ending scene.

The shade of pink in Super Metroid is the exact same as in Smash. There's no way the Gravity Suit is purple in SM, unless you also think the pink suit in every Smash Bros. is purple as well.
i think the pink in smash is a little TOO bright and saturated. but then again, i think the purple is NOT ENOUGH on the saturated side... so i guess BOTH are acceptable... i tend to trust the dark part of a sprite to be the true color, though. the light parts are often meant to be "shine" as opposed to the actual color. it IS also legitimate, though, to see the bright parts as the true color and the shadow as tainted by the shade (as opposed to tainted by shine).

yeah, that sounded weird >_>. i guess in the future we should specify "pink gravity" or "purple gravity", because this topic is clearly very subjective to how you view things.

All the Hazard Shield did was change the shoulders. The rest of the suit stayed exactly the same.
i know. what i meant was that i prefered the triple-knob shoulders of the PED suit, opposed to the boxy hazard shield shoulders. :p

Ok people, the argument of brawls pink suit is getting rather annoying now (as someone said, it was a big debate on the ZSS boards too)

Since we're all being major fussy about exact colours of pink/purple here, brawl technically uses a shade that neither Super, Zero Mission, or M1 use.

M1's missile varia suit is too much on the "hot pink" side, but it does have a blue visor so extra points for it, but brawl's isn't completely pink and does not sport red boots, so it's not M1s. ( http://tsgk.captainn.net/sheets/nes/metroid_samusaran_sheet.png )

Super Metroid is a much darker game and uses darker shades to colour the sprites. Super also has a green visor. Overall, this shade is more on the darker magenta than brawl's "pink" ( http://www.spriters-resource.com/nintendo/metroid/supermetroid/smsamusgravity.gif )

By contrast, Zero Mission is much more cartoony and colours sprites with lighter shades rather than darker. It can be said that the Gravity suit in this game is identical to Super's, minus 90% of the shadowing. It's pretty much magenta with a green visor ( http://tsgk.captainn.net/sheets/gameboyadvance/metroidzeromission_samus-gravitysuit_sheet.png )

Now when you go and look at brawls pink suit, it has a blue visor, and is not considered magenta like the 2d Gravity suits are. Had it's hue been shifted -15 and sported green lights, then I'd be more inclined to agree with the Zero Mission/Super argument. ( http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/7446/brawlsamusrc7.jpg )

Moral of the story: brawl uses it's own colour. Stop complaining.

Really the only suit that is exactly the same in brawl and the other metroid games is the varia suit. Everything else is different in other ways. For instance, the gravity suit is a different shade of purple, the dark suit is a different shape, and the fusion suit is a varia suit with blue and yellow

That was between ph00tbag and I. He was right, I was wrong. You were responsible for stopping the debate in the Zero Suit Samus Character Chat forum.

ph00tbag and I would disagree. The hue in Metroid (NES) was a light pink hue. The color of the Varia Suit changed to an orange shade in Metroid 2: Return of Samus.

Although I do not main Samus I am retraining myself, I am way to familar with melee.

1. what suit do you use for samus?
I use the Fusion suit as I just loved that game and the colour blue, however every now and then I do play the Gravity suit as somewhat of a tribute to my Melee Samus.

2. do you main zamus as well?
Zamus is definetly going to be on par with Samus, if not a little better.

3. if yes to 2, do you sometimes play samus then switch to zamus mid-battle?
Nope, Once i begin the match it's Samus till the end, win or lose.

4. if there was an option/suit for samus where she didn't have her helmet (but still had her power suit), would you like it/use it?
No. In my opinion it's just not really that great.
