I like the sound of some Aerial Grabs for Characters..!

Also, how about some Shield-Tilt attacks? You know, Tilt to the side while shielding, then attack = Quick Punch.

OH GOD NO! KEEP YOUR FILTHY STREET FIGHTER INPUTS OUT OF SMASH! But seriously...Dragon Punch motion's ridiculous.

You wanna know why you are singled out in most threads? Because of your pouty, maudlin manner of responding to others whom don't hold the same opinions or ideas as you. How would those Street Fighter motions ruin Smash for you? All you have to do to execute them is flick the control stick in the direction of the motion given. Shouldn't take more than a second unless someone has the reflexes of a turtle. That's even true even if the Dragon Punch motion is a bit finnicky. In that post you quoted me in, I even say that they wouldn't be the best option because the directional motions we have already serve the purpose those standard fighting game special commands do.

The problem isn't that he thinks it would ruin the game for him, it's that he seems to think it would ruin the game period.

For example, I agree that I wouldn't want those motions in Smash, but all I would say to that is... Well that I guess. I wouldn't want them in. It's cool that others do, but I just personally would be against them, and none of our bickering would get them in or out so I mean... no need to respond like he does.

That's hardly new. Angled forward smash attacks existed in Brawl. (to a lesser degree, but nonetheless)

I suppose it's a case of a revamp to an existing mechanic. Still enough of a change if you ask me. Provided it applies to more than just Mac of course.

Meh, I think the angled forward smashes will return with the characters that had them (Luigi was the biggest offender, up angled forward smash killed at ludicrously low percentages compared to normal and down)

An actual use for Donkey Kong's D-special in the air would be great. Maybe he could clap his hands for shockwaves in the air. I would love to see moves that have no use in the air have second functions (Peach, DK, Olimar, and Pokémon Trainer) Peach and Olimar could both grab underneath them in the air since both their specials involve plucking. Pokémon Trainer should be allowed to switch in the air (being vulnerable on the ground is terrible) or each Pokémon should have another attack in the air.

If there was a mechanic to change all characters... that wasn't pointed out (Charge Final Smashes [would give reason to hang onto Smash Ball], air grabs, air smashes, shield specials, alternate smashes like Little Mac, quarter-turn specials, air tripping, back specials, back smashes) I would like to see ledge specials and maybe ledge grabs.

So there's an input for rolling, jumping, attacking, getting up, and letting go, but what about grabs and specials? It would be awesome to climb up and throw your opponent off the stage if they weren't careful. Also, using a new or neutral special while climbing up could provide some new recovery options. Like having Mario fire a fireball, Bowser's fire breath to keep opponents away, Peach's Toad to counter, Marth shield poking, etc. Although some may have to be changed due to possible advantages. For example: Meta Knight's mach tornado, Kirby and Dedede's inhale, etc. So most likely, having new specials for ledges instead would be cool.

And the best move yet? Ledge Falcon Punch.

Give Bowser and Luigi new final smashes that better represent their games.

Air Shielding, for all.
Ceiling Cling, for Sheik
Air Dashing for Ganondorf, Samus, Mewtwo, and maybe Ness.
Wall Climb for Diddy and Sheik.
And finally, the ability to use any ground attack out of a dash, for all.

Similarly to Little Mac's KO Punch, every character should have their own KO move that's high-risk high-reward. Such as Sonic charging his side-special, then performs a Sonic Boost that goes across the entire platform, killing everyone in his path.

heck
AB moves would be cool. Maybe a bit too complex.

I'd like more characters to have wall jumps. Air grabs should be made for z-airs but should immediately end in a throw.

I like your idea but that example sounds a bit OP.

Maybe Sonic's F-smash could charge up longer and increase range and kill power. A fast kill move that sweeps across an entire platform sounds ridiculously OP even if takes a while to charge, especially if it kills multiple players.

Well, maybe it could be a kill move at high percents, but at low percents only causing medium knockback. But the Fsmash idea sounds good too.

I would like to see grab-teching. Where if two people initiate a grab at the same time both players will clash and be pushed back.
This could help to against chain grabbers.

Critical Hits and Misses a' la pokemon. Just occuring randomly. Jumping out perfect to metoer smash your opponent? To bad, attack missed and went straight throu. Trading attacks with someone cause its favourable for you? To bad, he got a critical hit and you got KO:d at 30%.

Sorry, bad taste joke. No hate please.

In all seriousness though, Id like to see air grabbing. They would ofcourse need to be fast, like no holding and punching obviously. But a quick grab and tap controll stick into the direction you want to throw (Pivot air grab a most for this to be a cool feature. Bait airdodge and grab them behind you). But I don't know, it might not have any clear uses or purpose so maybe it is redundant since there is already 5 air attack options and enemies can't even shield in the air. Wich is what grabs counters and I assume was implemented for.

I have also fantisized about air tilts, but I think that might just over complicate the game.

Something I really want and know would be good is alternate grab. Since the WiiU pro has two buttons on top as opposed to the GC controllers single Z-button. Only for characters with a ranged grab, think it would be a nice buff to Samus, Link, Lucas and similar grabbers if they had a normal short range grab to.
oh my god I love the airgrab idea..

but i think they're character specific, like ganon's/bowsers

-aerial grabs: cant hold them or pummel, but you can grab them and throw in the direction your pointing, causes some momentum shifts, useful for recovering or gimping

-more specials can be angled: i.e. fox's illusion can be angled up slightly or down slightly.
lasers can be directed using this feature. shine is unaffected
kirby's hammer can be angled up or down. each has different knockback trajectory. can angle inhale,
link can already angle his boomerang. should also be able to angle his arrows
mario can angle his fireballs, cape isnt affected much. fludd can already be angled.
luigi's side special doesnt really need to be angled. a misfire is kinda already like an up angled green missile
pikachu's thunder jolt can be angled. thunder cloud cannot
maybe im going overboard with this.
-special "get up" options. whether your on the ledge, tripped, or other wise need to wake up off the ground, instead of pressing A or B to do a get up attack, A does a standard get up attack while B does a special get up attack,
i.e, samus special ledge attack is a small missile blast,
-new ledge mechanics which sakurai has already fixed
-all characters have a smash special. like samus has a smash missile.
kirby's smash special is a flaming hammer that has a fiery hitbox behind him, swings forward and upward with higher knockback and damage, but slower starting lag and ending lag
links smash special is gale boomerang, while normal is his 64 boomerang

-special pummels: Pressing A does physical pummels, while pressing B does special pummels
i.e. falco special pummel is laser
kirby's special pummel spits out stars
ness special pummel is pk fire
-give characters like DK an aerial down special, and olimar an aerial n-special
-change samus, crouch animation to the morph ball that can crawl, have a rolling attack and a bomb attack like in P:M
-make marios fludd turn into a jet pack that can be used for recovery
-give falco the arwing for Final smash
-change wolfs final smash
-change kirby's final smash to ultra sword
-give everyone unique death animations like megaman's

Shoryukens arent easy to do at all.
Actually they are. There are short cut to all the inputs in the Street Fighter series, and for Street Fighter. 4 in particular you could sort of "wiggle" the stick diagonally and press punch and it will come out.

No one really implements the full inputs for a move, or they just buffer inputs. Like when you do a shoto's (Ryu, Ken, Akuma) bread and butter, crouching medium kick to hadouken. You don't input Down+Medium kick > Down, down/ forward, forward + punch, that's counter intuitive. The game already recognizes that you inputted down when you did the crouching kick, so it should look like this:

Down+Medium Kick > down/forward, forward + punch.

This aspect of fighters confused me when I was younger until I understood buffering, then it was a cakewalk from there. Some inputs like down/forward (diagonal) register as two inputs, so for the bread and butter you may not even have to press forward. This also works for charge characters like Guile who need to use Sonic Boom for pressure mix ups without having to walk away from the opponent. You can charge back and stay in place by holding down/back then pressing forward and punch, making it much more effective tool.

Really all it takes is a little practice and once it clicks you're going to enjoy all fighters much more I guarantee it. I used to dislike them too since my older brother alway whupped my ass all the time. Now a days the shoes on the other foot now (except for killer instinct. One combo and he kills me. Like I could literally put down my controller, make a sandwich, come back, and he's still comboing me. I'm already dead! lol)
