What comes to mind when you think of a Samus player? Mindgames? Technical skill? Offense? Defense? Stage control? Excessive gimping? Crazy A$$ Black guys?

I, for some obscure reason, feel very proud to be a Samus user. I never talk during a match, only before of after. I acknowledge it when my opponent defeats me out of skill. I do not taunt to inflame or distract them. I play Samus because I truly feel like a hunter, waiting patiently for his prey/bounty to fall into a well planned Bair, CS, or Fsmash. I brave the depth off the stage to intercept them, knowing that risk are needed to get the job done.

Using Samus has been natural because I see a part of myself reflected in her visor. It just makes me feel like I'm in charge or something...I need to see a psychiatryst...

Edit: My own playstyle is ALL about combos and gimping. Combos to rack up a bit of damage, gimping to kill at early percentage. I make a mental list of what set-up to use at what percentage, and the exact knockback of each move to keep comboes going. I usually never set foot on ground, where I tend to get ***** by throws and such (DDD...shudder). Any move that is useless I do not make, due to the stale moves negation and then fact that they **** you as punishment. I have my preferences as to which combo to use, but if that doesn't work I don't do it. One of the worst things that can happen is you trying to look flashy and ending up with your *** off the stage.

Unique traits so far:

-Abuses grab attack/ chozo chop while screaming "smack, smack, smack" before throwing opponent.
-Predicts opponent's moves very well.
-Calls D-smash the "Chozodian Windmill"...
-Defies public opinion by using a character branded by most people as "garbage"
-Takes pride in using a character that is hard to master, and defeating top tiers with her.
-Likes challenges
-Must adapt to a whole new playstyle, if not a whole new character
-Enjoys the awesomeness of Z-air approaching
-mindgames...
-Rely upon not only techincal skill, but intelligence and improvision to win matches

Sometimes, when I perform certain attacks, I make little grunts as if I myself am actually throwing a punch. It's purely reflex that I do that, and sometimes I give my attacks weird names and say the names of the attacks as I do them.
"Chozodian Windmill!" was my favorite. That's what I used to call the d-smash.
In terms of actual playstyle, I actually use projectiles much less than I use Samus's air normals. I'm extremely cautious and I pick my spots. I suppose my main selling point is the art of yomi, which means I can predict my opponent's next move very, very well and act accordingly.

What makes us unique? I believe we are probably the only players that abuse the grab attack before we throw an opponent. I was doing some friendlies Saturday with some buddies and every time I grabbed somebody they would say "smack-smack-smack!"

Unique since we've picked a character that isn't easily mastered, and then can take pride in each victory over characters like Marth. While most know she's pretty bad compared to the rest of the roster, it just feels great to pwn someone with her.

what makes us unique is the turn around from melee. Melee Samus played at an extremely fast pace with moves that had serious knock back. Now we must rely on combos and gimped sex kicks. Samus players, along side peach and sheiks, must adapt not to samus in brawl but a whole new playstyle and Hugs would argue character

"Chozo Chop" is an old name for Samus' jab attack when she grabs her opponent. I once saw it in a Prima Super Smash Bros. Melee guide. I called it that since then. I prefer "Chozo Chop" over "Chozo Pimp Slap." Actually, you can see the names I've given in my match-up thread. Maybe I'll edit some of them to fit what I like here. I already have "Axe Kick" for the u-tilt, since that's what it is.

Umm... Dryn I was referring to the up taunt not the grab jab attack. But yeah after thinking a bit I really didn't like the name that much either so it is gone now. But still don't think it, the up taunt, resembles a chop. But what I first had as a taunt line for the one was "Get Down" since it has downward motion and all.

Samus players (at least melee samus players) I find are very adaptable, and rely on not only technical skill, but intelligence to win their matches. Samus was never the fastest, the strongest or the best character, but she was extremely versitile and gave strong stats in all attributes.

In Brawl, what I find makes alot of Samus mainers unique is that they stick with a character hardcore, no matter how nerfed she may be (and no matter how little of a hitbox her fsmash has >_>). Samus is still a hard character to be good with, because even after all her nerfs she has a very high versatility, and a very high adaptability. Not only is she one of the most technical characters in melee, but she remains with lots of out-of-the-book techniques that made her my favourite character.

Well, 50% of samus mainers are like that anyways. The other 50% are immature adolescent boys who either
- play her becus zzs is hawt
- they have no awareness of her mediocrity in brawl
- they think she is a robot
- she is the closest thing they can find to pretending they're master chief.

sadly.

EDIT: there are official names for the moves. Granted they're pretty boring and unoriginal, but more or less true to the original game.

How about

U-throw: Grapple Launch
D-throw: Grapple Slam

I'm thinking the "Grapple" parts could be switched with something cooler, but not sure as to what would fit best.

B-air...
I always called that the Reverse Thrust Kick. I would make a sound like a female version of Gouki from Street Fighter when I did it too.

Sorry don't know who/what Boston Massachusetts is, besides the actual city. But I don't see how I you could use a city to fight. Although it would be cool if you had an entire city messing up your opponent while you play.

"Boston Massachusetts" is my nickname for Falco. He has a vaguely Bostonian accent in Brawl, so I call him Boston Massachusetts.

Ah... that makes sense. And thanks I was wondering where that accent was from. Btw what is up with the spacies and their distinct voice acting? Was it like that in any of the newer games? I haven't played star fox since 64 so I'm lost.

Edit: Okay to get back on topic, before I found out about Smashboards and found out about nair being called sex kick, when I decided to start improving my game in melee I read a guide on gamefaqs. And at this point I was a massive button masher, actually I'm still kind of one, so I hardly used my neutrals. This guide said how awesome it was and all of it's benefits, and basically he called it the "Flying Crane." So that's what I called nair before coming to smash boards. Maybe to make it more Samus specific we could call it "Flying Chozo," or "Chozo Air."

Oh that reminds me how about "Cannon Air" for dair. Maybe "Cannon Express" might be a bit better since it puts people on the express train to spike town :).

Am I the only one who's not having fun? Personally, I feel that naming all of her attacks are kind of lame. Only her greatest attacks need names. Like Lucario's roundhouse kick (utilt). Samus' attacks aren't particularly impressive, and naming them feels like we're worshiping Samus. Naming some attacks like Samus' axe kick (utilt) is fine, but I feel there's no need to name stuff like usmash, dsmash, etc.

Well, it's not like these names will be used in serious discussion, so while I don't find it that much fun I don't think it's harming anything either.

The only attacks I actually have special names for are her axe kick, and drill kick, since they actually look like what they sound like.

Well...technically, we are a bunch of people infront of our computers and posting in forums when we have alot of better things to do. I just gave you guys the illusion that we were having fun at the same time.
