Number one problem: He doesn't know how to space B-airs.

I think he doesn't know how to DI either. If he DIed that B-throw, he would have survived it. I don't recall him shielding anything, and I think he spotdodged too much.

Also, in a moment like 0:56, he could have F-smashed, as the leanback would have protected him from his opponent's jab, and then punished.

Yeah. However you're still a fair bit spotdodge reliant, and you don't have the timing down for SH Double B-air (it all comes down to buffering aerials from a jump, if you don't know what I mean, look up Thunder Storming, and that is how Ganondorf autocancels his D-air).

Also, a lot of times you tried too hard to follow up with U-airs from D-throw. When your opponent air dodges, regrab them and D-throw them again. This will give them a headache trying to decide whether or not air dodging is a good option. It gets tricky though if they jump away and air dodge.

Ledgedrop -> Cape -> B-air is a good getup option from the ledge, Up-smash out of shield is good for punishing (and KOing if you save it til like 125%) and Up-B out of shield is very useful for punishing all sorts of stuff, even G&W's B-air and the Mach Tornado.

Ledgedrop -> Cape -> B-air is a good getup option from the ledge,
Question: How exactly does this one work? I've seen it done many times, but every time I try it, I end up regrabbing the ledge after my cape animation ends. Am I supposed to buffer a jump during the cape animation? Do I have to let myself drop away from the edge first?

Hold away from the ledge until you jump, THEN B-air. You cannot grab a ledge while you are holding down, away from it, or are moving upwards (except when sweetspotting a ledge with a special attack).

Awesome, I'll try that. Thanks.

I didnt watch any of them video's yet. This is mainly going by my ditto's with him the other day.

~DI seems to be the main much needed focus to look into. Could survive alot longer, as well as not being in a good possibilty for being gimped. I gimped him a few times by merely running off & grabbing the ledge first.

~7-8 min matches. Don't necassarily have to attack on every approach, there's plenty of time for all that. Be creative. Mario has a decent array of an moveset.

Was that all the advice you could give him? I'm seeing a lot of off topic posts.

My post was advice in itself...There is no need to use fire in dittos, PS and spacing is the key...

There isn't really much advice I can give for dittos other than that...For other characters though different playing styles apply...

For general advice, use short hop spot dodging more. Spot dodging mid-air auto cancels into moves like U-tilt. I sometimes spot dodge into an opponents shield then uptilt at low percentages...

Ray_Kalm, try to get other videos of Frank against other characters. It's hard to rate someone in dittos due to them being dittos (it's hard to explain), in my opinion.

I agree with going against different characters as Mario. Ditto's won't get him very far. Other then seeing what Mario can do against himself. Which can be good for perfecting spacing. But not overall.

How I become slightly good with Mario was by getting good with other characters and using them against other Mario players. As well as watching youtube of Mario mains to get some ideas for the different scenarios of approaches to use against the other characters.

Dude seemed to play better against me when I was using Sonic, Samus, and Peach. I outright slaughtered him when I used Marth though. I kept spacing with Marth's range, Fair's Dtilts, Dancing blades, ect. He tried stalling a little bit on the the ledge, dropping then regrabbing, But I was laying in the pocket for him, using Dtilt an whatnot.

Overall, just keep at it. You'l get better in no time.

~I use Fireballs in Ditto's. ;P

Lol. Least he's learning and observing. Putting things to use.

Stalling at times seems a little bit of a waste to me IMO. Unless you trying to waste time while the opponet recovering and you trying to hold onto the edge a little longer or you're attempting to build your shield back up I suppose. When I Marth in that match against Frank I just waited for him basically, Wasnt much of anything that he could do from that position other then waste time. He only had a few optons from there.

Based on our matches, I can tell you play really similar to how I used to...blindly aggressive. That works for awhile, but smart opponents will walk all over you. Space a bit more, bring more mindgames into play, grab more to offset the constant attacking, things of that nature.

Also, just experiment offstage. You're good with that Fair, but you started to cling to it. Mix it up to throw opponents off. And...you may want to watch those SDs. You nearly had me a few matches and SDs evened it up, lol

Overall, you're MUCH better than most of the Marios I randomly play. Just keep trying to take your game further.

....Matt...why haven't we played?

depends... frank is kinda new to ledgecamping but there are actually quite a bit of things u can do when camping with mario. u just gotta be creative and use the surroudings to ur advantage...
Such as? If the opponet is just sitting there, standing, waiting (Or in a few characters cases/ Poking a tilt at the ledge at you) You are pretty much doing nothing other then wasting time. As you can only do so much far as coming back from off of the edge.

I think it's mainly a factor of just what you said. New to ledgecamping. Anybody wise will mess that whole shebang up tremendously.
