What is the most even match up in smash 64?

I would say StarKing/Ballin is fairly even on SmashBoards. With Ballin' lasting to much higher percents and never wanting to die, and StarKing always getting the first hit, but has trouble getting the kill.

Also, what do people think of fox v ness on dreamland? Not as closest in the game, but I think its actually pretty close.

anyway not sure when I have really debated shooting star on anything, except the "i am better than player X therefore I will always beat player X" thing, which is pretty LOL. usually is smart enough to stay out of the dumb free will / economics of world war II / barry bonds debates.

reading through the rest of the thread, Star King kind of backed off the point later, so I'll give him that. still don't see how I could possibly miss the point 100% when you say it's "ridiculous ballin4life disagrees" and then talk about how I'm inconsistent.

IMO, if, for example, two equally skilled players fight each other in a match-up where one has a large advantage, the one with the advantage will win every time, just maybe not by much.

I'm not sure how I mischaracterized your position by saying that the better player / player with the better match up will 100% of the time.

I was exaggerating/it was poorly worded in those posts. I don't believe any sort of advantage will grant a 100% win rate. Where we disagree is how high the variance tends to be in Smash 64 - I don't think if you have a heavy advantage (i.e. Fox vs Samus on Hyrule) you will lose a whopping 30% of your games.

See, I would blame myself/apologize for not being clear, but there's some old posts that seem to indicate you get the drift:

No, but it won't be as high as something like 25% of the time, like match-up ratios suggest. It'll be quite rare.

I agree with Sheer - I always seem to about Yoshi match-ups. I actually think Yoshi has a bit of an advantage on Dreamland and Mario maybe has a slight advantage on Hyrule. Seems really even overall.

And Link has advantage vs Puff on Hyrule without a doubt.
