For the international release for Smashes, why do you think that there are original Japanese-only voices of Cloud and Sephiroth instead of English dub voices of them?

That's just part of it. Nintendo's often worked with unions by having the union voice actor/ress go uncredited, but here's the kicker - on top of being the only person allowed to voice Cloud in English, the contract also mandates Steve cannot go uncredited as Cloud. So double oof.Long story short, Square Enix has a contract with Steve Burton, making him the only person allowed to voice Cloud in English. However, Steve is part of a union, and Nintendo typically doesn't work with unions. Same is probably the case for Sephiroth's English VA, George Newbern.
Oh yeah, forgot that part of the contract. That's just part of it.
