Kirby Super Star/Ultra
Metroid
Fire Emblem
Metal Gear Solid
Mother 3

I think that's pretty much it. Either I played most of them with zero help from Smash Bros games or just didn't care to play them a lot.

Fire Emblem Awakening - It looks like a good game, but I couldn't get hooked on it

Mega Man series - AMAZING games, I'm glad Smash introduced me to them

Kid Icarus Uprising - Game is...good, I suppose, don't like the controls though

Earthbound - I'm not the biggest fan of RPGs, but this game looks good

I don't think I've ever bought a game because of another game other than sequels.

Fire emblem 7. And super punch out. But the second one was also due to seeing the crazy blindfolded speedruns of punch out snes. It has been a while since i bought a game because of smash though. I play most of the games the characters come from already. Even xenoblade chronicles.

Starfox 64, Ice Climber, and the original Kid Icarus are the only ones I got because of interest in Smash. Entertainingly enough, Earthbound, Fire Emblem, and F-Zero were all independent of Smash for me.

The only game I bought because of smash bros was Kirby Air Ride and some Kirby game on the game boy. Although smash has really tempted me recently to get DK:Tropical Freeze and get the xenoblade game(which I'm definitely getting the next one now!)

Earthbound and Fire Emblem for me and, I suspect, many others. Excellent games and franchises.

Oh and Golden Sun but that was mostly because of Smash Boards and Reddit recommendations.

I bought F-Zero GX becaus of 64/Melee. F-Zero has since become one of my very favorite series. Pretty good deal.

Smash 64 was also one of my first games period (I think I had played Pokemon and Mario prior, but that's about it), so it is responsible for exposing me to most Nintendo series, really. Just not necessarily to the point that it was why I played those other games.

Edit: As far as Smash 4 goes, I've played and enjoyed games from pretty much every newcomer, but I have never actually beaten a Fire Emblem game, and I didn't play Xenoblade Chronicles, so it may be time to play those.

EarthBound...

If it wasn't for Smash, I never would have discovered my favourite video game franchise ever or met some of my closest friends from what followed. I'm glad that Smash Bros. has boosted people's interest in many great series like Fire Emblem, F-Zero, Mother, Kid Icarus, Ice Climbers, etc. because that's what I see Smash as at its heart: a game that broadens horizens, both within the Nintendo universe and outside of it.

The Zelda console games, a Metroid game or 2. Still looking for a FE game that doesn't require the dishing out of $100 or buying a 3ds. Earthbound is on my "buy that eventually" list. That's about it. I was looking at Xenoblade long before the Shulk reveal.

F-Zero maybe, but that's about it. I'd already played pretty much everything else, aside from Fire Emblem (because none of them were even released in the West before Melee.)

The first time I played Fire Emblem (being Rekka no Ken back in Christmas of 2003) was entirely because of Smash Bros. Aside from that, it hasn't been the primary reason I've tried a game. Typically it's word of mouth that gets me interested.

I'm planning to get Kid Icarus Uprising and Fire Emblem Awakening in the vaguely near future. Uprising because apparently the dialogue is hilarious and Palutena is a massive troll, and Awakening because I understand there's a casual mode so I don't need to stress over keeping everyone alive.

I´ve picked up Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus and Metroid. The last one didn´t have my attention at all, but i found them quite entertaining after all!

I'm thinking of getting games from F-Zero and Fire Emblem thanks to both their respective fan bases. Smash actually had nothing to do with this one...

I'm pretty sure Smash 64 introduced me to Kirby and Pokémon.

Also thanks to Brawl, I've played the first Zelda game for the first time since...1997, I think (and therefore reignited my interest in Zelda). It's also gotten me slightly interested in Metal Gear and Kid Icarus.

I bought Pikmin because I liked Olimar in Brawl.

Probably one of my best life decisions.

Well, Brawl was one of the first Nintendo games I played, so really every series I played besides Mario and Pokémon was influenced by Smash. Brawl was the game that actually got me into Nintendo as a whole.

But in Smash 4 speculation, there were quite a few games I bought due to learning about characters.
I bought Fire Emblem Awakening soon after it's launch due to hearing how popular of a choice Chrom was for Smash 4.
I bought Earthbound on the Virtual Console after hearing how great it was while looking at stuff for Ness.
I bought Mega Man 2 a little while before E3 2013 when I heard about Mega Man.
And I recently got Xenoblade for my birthday, after hearing about Shulk and how great the game was.

I bought Dillon's Rolling Western because I thought there was a good chance he could be a clone of Sonic in Smash U/3D. ...So much for that. (A somewhat flawed, but enjoyable game, though.)

When I'm not lazy I'll buy Xenoblade, but I do thank Smash Bros. for getting me more into Kirby, MegaMan, and PacMan. I also thank it for making me get back into Pikmin.

F-Zero GX
Earthbound, Mother 3
Metroid Prime/Metroid series
Kirby 64/Kirby series

I was essentially too young when Smash 64 came out, and my parents too strict on games, to have played much of anything besides Mario and Donkey Kong related stuff. I'd never heard of half of the characters in the original roster, and I can bet that I may never have heard of them without Smash.

What's odd is that while I'd never played Zelda before Smash 64, I started on Xenoblade Chronicles about 3 weeks before Shulk's reveal on my own accord.

In the future, I plan to play some Fire Emblem game maybe, Star Fox, or Kid Icarus Uprising.

Since I played ssbm, every time I love, was interested, cared and bought any game, it was because of ssbm since I wouldn't even care about them if I haven't played it and my account here wouldn't exist and I wouldn't play TTYD and I wouldn't gltch hunt it...etc...

So, pretty much any game, but ssbm which was the source of all.

Every game I own that isn't a fighting game.
Seriously let down by Ice Climbers. But there were some good ones like Earthbound and F-Zero.

For me you can pretty much put down any franchises that aren't Zelda, Mario, Pokémon, and Xenoblade. Those are the only ones where I either knew about them well enough prior to smash (Zelda, Mario, Pokémon), or became interested in them through other means (Xenoblade Chronicles with the Operation Rainfall movement). For all other games represented you can thank Smash for my interest.

Uh...none I think. I definitely am aware that those franchises/characters exist thanks to Smash Bros., but I never said 'I saw this in Smash, therefore I am immediately interested.'

Because of Smash 64:
I played Metroid Prime, which got me into the Metroid series.
I played F-Zero X which got me into the F-Zero series.
I played and loved EarthBound.
Played Kirby 64, which got me into the Kirby series.

Because of Melee:
I played Ice Climber, which is pretty crappy....

Because of Brawl:
I bought Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance the day after Ike was revealed. Loved it and went on to play the GBA Fire Emblem and Awakening.
I bought Kid Icarus on Wii virtual console because Pit was revealed, but I didn't beat it until the 3D Classics version (Got it for free from Club Nintendo.) I also bought Uprising because of Brawl.

Because of Smash 4:
I actually bought Rhythm Heaven Fever because of the Gematsu leak claiming that the Chorus Men were a playable character. The game looked fun and I wanted to be caught up on the character if there was one playable.
Shulk and Pac-Man's reveals have motivated me to finish Pac-Man World 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles (I own and was playing both before they were revealed)
