Like, I think I'm a scrub, not many people in my area really know who I am? What do I have to place to not be a scrub? Best I've ever placed is 13th, isn't that good :(

Do I actually have to make money (aka place 3rd) before peepz start caring about me, or is it cause I joined in the Brawl scene instead of Melee :(

Just keep going to more tourneys (and smashfests), to get to know the people. I'd suggest getting there early and playing friendlies. Soon they'll recognize you and you'll become friends and you won't be just some scrub.

If you want people to think you're good, then that's kind of a scrub thing to want, but I guess the way you would do that is by beating anyone who thinks you're bad :p

If you go to tournaments regularly enough, then you're not a scrub. Doesn't matter where you place, as long as your mindset towards Brawl is one that leads you to practice and try to get better.

Just wondering out of curiosity, I don't think its good, but is getting 13th...bad? Cause 13th is the best I've ever gotten (it was my most recent tourney too). Its one away from 9 (top 10) which that is good, but 13th doesn't look too good, but it doesn't look bad either...is it?

How many people were there?

Anyways, I consider myself to be an average-ish player, but I've never gotten past R1 in singles. To be fair, I have to compete with guys like DSF, BoA, Teba, Leepuff, Def, MikeHAZE, etc.

TL;DR: I live close to Palmdale and that makes it hard to win. The average Palmdale'er falls to a pretty good skill level.

Well you could see yourself as a scrub...or you could also see that..all the guys that placed ahead of you used metakinght! ...so...your technically top 1 w/o meta...and if that doesn''t work...blaming the tiers always works (:

It was out of 49, lol. I'm not good, I know that, but is that bad? I'll never place well at a big tourney prolly lol.
Well in that case you place better then over two thirds of the competors, thus you are far from a scrub. Basically your problem is you have a losing mindset. You are predesting yourself to failure buy thinking you will lose. Stop it, and you'll do better. ;)

Basically, you're a scrub in the head, but a fairly good player in real life. It took PC Chris about a year to even win a tourney. With good patience, practice, hard work, and Meta Knight's ban you will win a tournament...eventually. Just keep working at getting better. ;)

I got into the smash community late though :(

I wanna goto Melee tourneys but there are so few now, that and I can't main my favorite character (Kirby) in Melee. I love Kirby as a character, not cause he's good so thats why I play him. But competitively in Melee if I were to main Kirby, I'd get *****. My Melee main even is that good, I main Ganon in Melee, lol.

I play both Melee and Brawl, but honestly, I do like Brawl more :D

Azen doesn't get first EVERY tourney, Chillin and Forte win some. Does that make Azen a scrub lol. That means the only person who isn't a scrub is M2K?

Well your automatically a scrub if you play Brawl instead of Melee LOL

Seriously though top 4 before people will know your good, as far as liking to see you at tourneys, it depends on how hard you try and how likable you are as a person.

Top 4 is so hard on east coast. Top 4 is almost always guarunteed to be, Azen, Chu, Chillin and Forte, lol. Guess, I have to win against someone from H2YL, at least once, lol. Maybe in 5 years I won't be scrub, lol. I know top 7 isn't GOOD, but is it at least decent. Cause I think 7 is the most potential I'll EVER have, lol.

Don't worry about trying to beat them all the time, that's just insane. If you get the chance, challenge them to a friendly and learn from playing them. Its the only way to really reach that kind of level. I'm sure Azen, Chu, Chillin and Forte weren't ALWAYS the greatest, they had to work their way to the top and be known.

Off that, one way you can not be considered a scrub is play around locally if you can. Do well enough, and people will recognize you and word can spread of your name. ^_-

What's the technical definition of a scrub?
If you go by the Sirlin definition, a scrub is someone who makes up rules becuase they call things "cheap". So basically scrubs are the people who call something broken the moment they lose to it without any good arguments to back it up.

Ok thanks. That sounds familiar and I might have read that somewhere before...

man if melee was anything like brawl, i'd definitely play it, brawl is the perfect example of a great fighting game, great air combat, not insanely fast like melee was, that's a huge turnoff
Play Smash 64 then.

Ehhhhh top 8 is like usually pretty good.

in smaller communites it's more like top 3/5

People are scrubs, and they get better. that's what this game's competitive side is about.

Poyo we know who you are and we know your not a scrub. I have seen you around at a few tourneys and I certainly know who you are.

Also, it doesn't matter much if you place top ten to get recognized I placed like 9th on one of my first tourneys and it didn't get me any recognition. It was when I startd going to more tourneys is when I got noticed (and I use yoshi lol)
