What are some of Luigi's best matchups?

Just wondering what matchups we do well in. I think Kirby and Ganon are probably our best matchups, but who else?

King Dedede is my favorite. Upb punishes all day. Donkey kong is easy to land spikes on. After that I think he has some evens, and then I think he starts losing a bunch of match ups.

How do you deal with Ganon's running grab and how do you punish kirby's down b?

Fox? Easy combos, Dair gimps, even range [Lasers have no knockback...unless you add customs, then disregard the last part]

His running grab is pretty slow, so it's very easy to punish. Hes very easy to gimp offstage as well as being combo food. As for kirby, he has to commit to that down b for a whole second before releasing, so its easy to bait it out, get a grab and do luigi things. I also feel as if Luigi outranges in this matchup as well, with the only troubling part being dealing with the little puffball offstage.

I've mostly only played For Glory and some matches with friends, but in my experience the easiest match ups are DK, Ike, Gdorf, and Mac. The hardest match ups in my experience have been Rosalina, Link, Lucario, and Duck Hunt because they just roll away, set up their tent, and start camping (except for Rosalina, who just straight up mauls Luigi). Everyone else feels close to even so far.

EDIT: I just played a really good Ike, and I was definitely shown that it's not an easy match up for Luigi. Really close and good game (unfortunately, he didn't decide to stick around past one match).

My personal struggles have been Little Mac, Lucario, and Yoshi

Sheik and Rosalina are slight problems for me, but most of the ones that whoop me are always way better players in that respect, so IDK how much the character makes the difference.

I also have trouble with Bowser and Ness, but I think that's my own mental block of knowing I do poorly against them.

I can agree with zhao, those characters give me some trouble as well. However the 3 biggest characters that I find almost hopeless against are Little Mac, Sonic, and Greninja. Little Mac is the easier of the 3, but even then I find it incredibly difficult. Against Greninja and Sonic, I've tried everything, with cp-ing to platform stages, flatstages, I just dont know how to deal with those two. At least with mac I have somewhat of a chance on battlefield and Yoshi's, but with the other two, I just have no idea what to do.

Odd, cause I find Greninja the most doable, Sonic tough, and Mac virtually impossible against a GOOD one.

Oh, DDD is another fun matchup for me. Just because no more infinite = Much reduced threat. DDD has range, but other than that he's one of the only characters than Luigi with lower air speed. Plus his bulky frame = combos for days.

Greninja gives me a lot of trouble for some reason. Idk what it is about him, I just struggle.

His projectile is stupid. I learned the hard way it can hit Luigi while he's hanging on the edge too. Although a bad Greninja will spam Dair, and when he misses...perfect chance for an Up B! Of course, a good Greninja is a hard matchup for sure.

Keep in mind that many Greninjas will try to cancel a missed Dair into a Shadow Sneak.

Megaman.
Oh god.
I think we're getting off topic now discussing bad matchups, this thread is intended for good ones.

That being said, Olimar. Even though he was top tier in Brawl, I still liked the matchup for superior recovery, easy uppercuts due to frames, and Pikmin were slaughtered by tornado. Same applies here in Smash 4, cept Olimar still has a gimpable recovery and is even worse with only 3 Pikmin with bad ai. His only saving grace is if he uses burly Pikmin pluck custom or something to make his Pikmin last against tornado.
