So yeah last tournament I finally decided to record some more vids, I feel that there are things that I can still work on and it's up to you guys to help me! I know there's a critique thread that's been stickied but you all know about my thoughts on that. So I trust these currently dead falco boards to critique these vids, and provide some well-thought out, constructive advice for me to read and try to apply to future matches. Please try to watch as many of the matches as you can.

So without further ado, here are the vids:

Noes I'll be facing a TL this sunday!!!

Ok will start after finishing watching NL's new team vids : O

Ok let's start
Game1
lol skys tag advice
lucky starting stage
At the start I felt like you were doing nice with the arrows, but you weren't punishing badly spaced zairs with shieldgrabs etc. Kinda a waste of free damage, especially cause he often started the zairs so high.
Then you started getting defensive, rolls, shields. You didn't make it, cause you didn't focus on stopping him. You often didn't take the time to throw in some lasers and rather waited for him to approach. You should try to analyze the situation more and change your style accordingly. Sometimes you need to wait, sometimes defend and sometimes you have to be in the offense. For Falco there's often no reason not to use lasers, especially not at mid-long range.
Don't be greedy! Rule nr 1 for Falco. You are FALCO. You can play EXTREMELY safe and rack 1 damage every 10 seconds. You shouldn't want damage, you should use lasers etc to create an opening and catch him on that. Don't fish for anything.
Perfect example is the punished spotdodge to dthrow to techchase. Nice one there, you knew when to go in for the grab instead of backing out.
The above is after 1:30 of match, lulz. It's not even that bad tbh.
You really punish bad out of shield, badly spaced moves etc can so easily be shieldgrabbed. Even moves like bair with a powershield.
You often IAP if he's high in the air. Why? You won't hit him, he's so high he can change direction and TL has nice hitboxes everywhere in the air. Why leave your home if you can have him fight on your terrain?
If someone enters the stage in freefall normal getup is better then roll, but I'm sure you knew that ^^
Overall you just often spend time rollen/spotdodging/reflectoring when you could also be lasering. Back off with the IAP, only use it if he's grounded.
You do great at avoiding setups, it really shows you know the mu.
I think corpse is really good at keeping his openings to a minimum because you knows your playstyle.
Be more patient, rack up 170% damage by lasers, dash attack. Or go to 200 and fthrow at the edge, really.

Game2
Lylat, hate that CP :(
Overall you were being WAY to greedy, till you got that far behind. In which you started playing on punishing. Corpse didn't see it coming so it worked... kinda. You got lucky with some weakspot usmashes there though. Corpse was going for the kill way to much, which is why your punishing game worked. He also had scrub DI on his second stock :demon:

Game3
You're playing kinda greedy again. Less then previous games though.
Watch out with reflector baits
STOP GOING OFFSTAGE
You're leaving yourself way to open when searching for kills.
Again scrub DI getting you a kill.
Make that 2

Game4
Too bad screwing up on the water
I notice you let the TL take momentum, that's a bad thing. You must keep him small with lasers and other types of pressure. Your camping game > his.
Suicide, too bad.
Stop using smashes, Dsmash has no use except for catching landings. Ftilt is 10x safer then Fsmash. Usmash has no use on non killing percentages.
Well stop using them on shields or at other unnecessary moments.
I don't want to sound like a prick, but the only reason you can make such great comebacks is because Corpse decides to fish kills. You actually start to block because it's so damm obvious.

Game5
NOT MUCH TO SAY MAYNE I GOT YA. Read above.

Better start that writeup while I start LF

Game1
lol you lucker, again FD on first match xD
Nice laser/iap game. Not what I saw last matches.
After a jab combo early cancel go for another jab. the advantage is 0 and MK can't do anything to stop it besides upB which you can bait and punish with a shield mixup.
Don't go for the upper laser if he's in his shield and close to you.
Nice techchase first kill, you found his roll pattern. (wondering if you can keep up with his mixup)
You still miss opportunities to punish.
In the chaingrab on his last stock you could've turned around and continued for more damage + techchase, better then getting him offstage as he's obviously in an advantage there.
Fullhops exist! Use them if he's too high.
Bad DI at that dsmash.

Match2
Not much to say, I liked you. Disliked the MK.
I think everything is said already.

If you have any need for more just ask tho

**** son **** firebird gimp next time second stock.. it was perfect setup

Thank you very much Xonar

Yeah I thought about going for the firebird gimp against wario in LF but yeah I dunno what happened

Got any tips for killing? :S

I suppose I'll try the ftilt or fthrow next time. I DID get a fthrow kill in match 2 of LF (despite poor DI on richard's behalf) :p

More critiques please!

Your Falco is creative and fluent. I really like your playstyle. The only problem that I notice right off the top of my head is that you need to learn to kill. Besides that it's great, good stuff.

Corpsecreate is just insanely good at avoiding kill moves

Falco as a character is limited enough as it is with his killing options, which is why I asked for tips on 'how' to kill

You are similar to me, I have problems to kill.

One option is Nair Cancel (Nair and Fastfall) to Fsmash. Is very quickly, and you can out, but is a good trick.

It's not so much that he's good at avoiding kill moves, you just go for them a LOT more than you should. You get desperate.

Also match 4 on delfino when you had the grab as the stage was going up it might've just been better to hold on and suicide.

Something that somehow works a lot when I'm Falco is single jab > u-smash. Kills the lighter characters. Or short hop behind them and f-smash.
I tend to get a lot of kills from Utilts (which gives you an idea of the %s they're living to). Uair is a great move for drawing out an AD so you can punish with a Bair or Dair. FF Nairs can help you land some kills as well.

Best. Commentary. EVER.

That T link was really skilled, he knew the MU pretty well. And falco just sucks at kill moves, so i think the best thing to do is to not attempt a lot of them but instead sit back and double laser the crap outta Tink. Because i think that is where you could have racked up a lot of damage on him. More laser. It's something ive been using more recently too, and it gets results. Cause everyone seems to know how to dodge falco kill moves these days..

And i hate phantasming just underneath delfino's stage and suiciding too..

You need to use the boost pivot grab when chain grabbing there was sometimes where you would've rack up so much more damage if you did it.

Also try not to camp against Toon Link as much Falco has a much better close range game them Toon Link that you should abuse.

Doing the drop bair is a good to use against his recovery another good thing to do to his recovery his dair it since Toon Link's up B is very predictable.

Hehe yeah, it gave me strength! :D

I have no idea why, but WHENEVER I tried boost pivot grabbing he would always jump out so I avoided using it :S

I'll try dairing his recovery more and playing less campy, I just feel that it's difficult to get inside of toon link and by camping falco shuts down toon link's forte, which IS camping.

I suppose it's all about options

More vids soon

Isn't a dair like impossible without suiciding?
Wasn't there like an input trick to make it non-fastfalled a long time ago though? like hold it diagnally downwards to the side you want to go.
Might start using dair more offstage

yeah you can do the way you explained or you can also fastfall while you still have invincibility frames and do a jumping dair which would be more difficult
