Ok everyone, here's a stage vote for Yoshi's Island Brawl. Vote Starter, Counterpick, or Banned. Stages need a 2/3 (66%) majority to be primarily in that category. If the vote is split (such as 50% Starter 50% Counterpick) then the stage will be in the Starter/Counterpick section.

Notes about Yoshi's Island Brawl

-The ground is uneven making it tough to pick up some items
-There's a support ghost that randomly saves players, or messes them up

It was a starter in Brawl, it should be a starter here. Not much has changed for it, except Scar Jumping on the walls (not like it matters though because the wall jump mechanics don't work right on this stage anyway). So, besides that, it's a fine starter to me.

You forgot the Shy Guys which can increase hitbox size and hitlag and also block most projectiles.
And the odd properties of where you can and can't walljump/cling on the sides.

But yeah I think it should stay starter. None of these things are a big issue.

The ghost platform in this iteration of Yoshi's Island seems to follow no set pattern unlike the old one from Story. I don't think this one should stay a starter. Your recovery can be unexpectedly saved or even screwed over by it if it decides to pop up at an inopportune time.

In addition to the cloud not following a set patern (or the shyguys), the floating platform also seems to be random. This may not be a big deal to some people, but it can make it very difficult to approach an opponent camping under the platform (or conversly, make it easier to approach them by giving them more room to drop through it).

The slanted edges make it pretty difficult for some characters to get back onto the stage too (Ike can't ledgehop aerials while landing on the stage for example). The varying elevations of the main stage also mess with a few minor things (resets, chaingrabs, ect.) but those aren't a big deal.

Overall I'm pretty torn on what to pick, but I'm gonna go ahead and vote counterpick (as much as I hate to lose a cool Sonic level :p)

I find these problems that people are bringing up as more personal annoyances rather that actual problems. I really can't see this altering many matchups as it is, especially more so than in vBrawl. Technically everyone has an equal shot of being saved by the ghost, though some could use it more than others (like Olimar) though I believe even I (ROB) have been saved by it before lol. However its the opponents fault for not following up when the platform saves someone. It's normally not hard to continue an edgeguard with the perfect position they are put in.

Rob has an up B that let's him stall for quite a while (other stalling techniques like rising pound, or just leaving Peach's parasol open also benefit from this).

I just think having something completely random that can determine whether you live or die should be on a "neutral" stage.

I'd like to see something done with the ghost on this level (which I call Ronnie for no reason in particular) when we get the ability to. It's pretty dumb to have that on a neutral right now, and making it follow a set pattern would be great once we're able to edit stages.
