DISCUSS THE STAGE BEFORE VOTING!

Ok everyone, here's a stage vote for Green Hill Zone. Vote Starter, Counterpick, or Banned. Stages need a 2/3 (66%) majority to be primarily in that category. If the vote is split (such as 50% Starter 50% Counterpick) then the stage will be in the Starter/Counterpick section.

Notes about Green Hill Zone

-Best stage music in the game
-Two walk offs for blastzone camping
-Lamp post shenanigans

Poll Deadline: 5 days

I've studied this stage quite a lot, it's definitely banned imo. The lamp post is essentially what ruins it. if a certain character gets control of it (which is easy with projectiles) standing behind it makes it near impossible for certain characters to approach. The lamp post is up somewhere for most of the game, and can really just ruin the fun.

If the lamp wasn't there then would it be a possible counterpick?

Perhaps a code could be made to make it not spawn.

Even if you removed the lamp post, there's still the blastzone camping issue.

idk. I really want to salvage this stage. I just dont know where to begin. The layout itself is wonderful. It's just that it's a walk off and half the stage is destroyable.

And the lamp post. :/

It's really annoying to see such a good layout go to waste because of a few dumb attributes.

Hmm... I wonder what extending the boundaries on the left and right sides of the stage even further would do...

But in any case, banned.

Edit: Potentially, you could slow the stage down so the checkpoint post never comes out in a match. There's still the problem of blast zone camping + breakable main stage parts so... that's only doing some kind of temp fix which really still doesn't make it CP.

We just need to edit the stats of the lamp post, not remove it. It's good visual material, just a ****ty hazard.

0 KB, 0 damage. No Flinch.

Banned it its current iteration.

By the way, are we debating what CAN be done to these stages and if they are Starter/CP/Banned based on what we can change or are we arguing what they ARE? I think our discussions should focus on what the stage currently is. After we have a starter list based off of RC1 we can then decide if we need more stages or if we just want to fix more up for friendlies.

If you could remove the hurtbox on the floor and on the spinning post that should solve it. Is it possible to remove stage created hitboxes and hurtboxes?

no I can't, I more than likely however, can freeze the blocks in their "alive" state. but by doing both that and removing the lamp thing, why not just freeze it?

Well you can still hit the blocks which gives more hitlag and allows for strange occurances like TL bouncing on his dair on them. That was the only issue with those.
