Hey guys I've started fox aboiut a month ago and recently I've learned to waveshine. I've heard that people learn waveshine really fast and can use it in competition . Ive been waveshining for 2 weeks now but I can only do it 75% time in training mode and like 15% in competition .

How long does an average player learn to waveshine properly?

ANd how long does he or she have to waveshine flawlessly enough to use it in competition

PS I need lots of comment. THanks

I took 2 days to learn how to waveshine, and I was using it by the next tournament which was like a week or two away. It shouldn't take you too long to learn, just start using it more during friendlies and you'll be used to it in no time.

wavedashing is easy but waveshining is in my opinion much weirder beacause you can side B down a cliff and sometimes if you dont do a really good angled wavedash, you just dont go.

well I got waveshining down rather quickly, but getting it to be a quick cancel and long WD is harder.

Practicing should get rid of you accidentally hitting side B, and it will speed up your wave-shines.

Just keep at it!

Perfect Waveshine is almost using Fox Illusion but still using the shine. I'm guessing a 95 through 130º angle. I can understand it being hard. I used to occasionally press Forward B during shining (At least with perfect wavedashes). Your hands have to be constantly moving back and forth. It gets confusing and repetitive to new learners.

Good luck on learning!

I can't quite perfect WS, but I get perfect WDs... the perfect WD is almost straight sidewise. When you do it you'll think you are actually slightly higher than sideways at first, because you're used to not holding so far diagonal...

hope this helps!

Yea dude i used to be a Fox but it was way back and i also kno from experience and ppl i kno that can do it but then totally lose control and go off the stage. Its hard to master but once u got it ur good to go. Then again i see Waveshinein more for showin off rather than doin heaps of damage..seriously if ur nice with fox u wont need to waveshine. :)

Try learning the really cool way to waveshine (Slide across the A button to X) if you really wanna get waveshines going. Getting the angle for perfect waveshines isn't too bad, just push it past the diagonal, and keep going higher and higher up until you can do it basically parallel to the stage. I think the max angle is 10 degrees below horizontal, which is when the controller hits a dead zone (Won't recognize any downwards input).

practice practice practice. the technique doesnt change in real competition you just have to know when to do it, or when to take advantage of someones mistake.

it'll just come to you

This is my biggest problem with Fox. >.<

I keep either not going far enough, or accidentally doing side + B.
