I don't know what to feel.

I read Marvel a lot. I like a lot about Disney and hate a bit of Disney (read: Disney Channel live action). Marvel was already moving in a direction that as a whole I liked very much (main exception being Spider-Man comics). This could add more good or it could make things really bad.

The one thing I do not want to see come from Disney into Marvel are their Disney Channel television actors getting roles in the upcoming and future MARVEL movies.

I didn't think about the Universal aspect until just now, but you're right, MARVEL was a very big part of Islands of Adventure. I wonder if they will shut down that section of the park. Sucks. Hulk coaster, Spider-Man ride, Dr. Doom drop were very fun. Also, seeing the super-heroes walk around the park was very fun.

Obviously this is a very good move for Disney to attract one target demographic, which is young guys. But a hella lot of people read Marvel.

I don't really give two ****s about the Kingdom Hearts universe so I don't care about seeing Wolverine or Spider-man running around with Sora or Goofy. I do not want to see Sora beat the crap out of Magneto or Dr. Doom or the Green Goblin. I would vomit.

Honestly, I don't want to see too many effects of the merger. I do not. Both companies were doing great on their own. I want to see the great management and advertisement from Disney grace Marvel.

I hope that Disny just lets Marvel do its own thing and gets profits from it. Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure is kinda screwed over, but that's minor to me. They'll probably just rename and repaint the rides.

I don't know what to think about this, but as long as Disney keeps their actors out of marvel movies/doesn't change storyline & universe stuff, I'll be happy.

Who knows? Maybe Disney will use it's advertising prowess to help Marvel get more money to make more new ips? Just gonna wait and see.

And I thought Square purchasing Tomb Raider was big. I hold the exact same position as Tom on this one.

Disney better not tinker with Marvel. Keep the ownership behind the curtains.

I think Disney is just gonna lay back and rake in the cash from the movies/etc. But I didn't think of the Disney actors in marvel movies *stares fearfully* " Oh, Peter Parker got a new girlfriend. Her name is Hanna Montana " -_- .

Now don't get me wrong; I love Disney. I have always been a big fan of theirs. But they should just let Marvel do its thing and make the profits off of it. Lastly, I don't know, can they actually close those rides in Universal? Or since they were built before this are they fine? The worst I can see happening is them getting renamed, which is doubtful. The primary thing this will do is prevent any more Marvel-themed rides at Universal.

PS: I lol'd more at the Disney vs Capcom 2 than I did the Kingdom hearts jokes.

Well, Universal might lose its Marvel rides, but Disney World could now construct an entire park solely for Marvel. That would be infinitely awesome.

... The world needs a Nintendo theme park.

Well we already have a Pokemon theme park in Nagoya (I think that's where it is).

Really, I don't read that many comics. I know my stuff (moreso than most people), mostly due to just knowing a lot of comic book buffs. Though, one thing I do not want to see if Disney Channel actors getting into Marvel movies. I could probably get onto the Disney Channel as an actor, but I don't want to degrade myself in such a way.

Here's hoping for Disney building kickass Marvel rides though in Disneyland. That would be awesome.

Agreed. Mission:SPACE and Rockn'Roller coaster are amazing (My 2 favorite rides in WDW.) Test track, soarin' , space mountain, and tons of other stuff are really fun too. A Marvel themed thrill ride would be awesome. Im thinking the 1st place they'd put it would be in Hollywood studios.

Scary thoughts:
-Disney stars in marvel movies
-Disney kiddying up Marvel

Good thoughts:
- Disney making a Marvel theme park.
- Additional budgets to already awesome movies
- More Marvel Movies, faster
- Apocalypse vs Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts 3.

I was kind of worried when I heard the news at first, but when you take a step back, the good outweighs the bad, so I'm hopeful. But unfortunately, media conglomerates tend to do anything to make a quick buck nowadays, so this could easily turn out bad.

Disney tends to know what its doing though.

They aren't the best in the theme park business, as well as one of the best in TV, animation, and movies for nothing :).

I didn't believe the title until I clicked.

And I still don't believe it. Honestly, I don't know what to say to this. Also, wow 4 billion. o.o

Err, the Walt Disney empire is HUGE. The company owns Touchstone Pictures, which released movies from Armageddon to Pretty Woman, for example lol. This doesn't mean that we'll be seeing Spiderman and Mickey mouse fighting together against the ebul forces, and according to the article in the OP, it'll help the Disney company to expand their audience (which is probably composed of 60% fan girls, 30% normal people, 10% babies) and it will also help Marvel "product-wise".

Disney money $$$ + Marvel products/ideas = win.
