Vs. Game and Watch?

It was annoying as hell, I tried to kep him at bay with the zapper but he kept Up B, dair and when I got into close combat it always ended with him using his **** strange ariels. And missles didn't help too much either...

No one responded to this so I figured I'll bump it. I was massacred by a G&W today - it was pretty clear I just didn't know what to do in the match up.

Any advice?

Hello, ChromePirate and Paradigm. Mr. Game & Watch players can be tough and they are notorious with the f-smash and d-air. I would know, because I fight against someone named CD, and one of the characters he plays as is Mr. Game & Watch. You should first take note of the stage that you are on. If you are at the Battlefield or any area that has a platform, you can use that to stand under it if Mr. Game & Watch plans on using his d-air. Make sure that you don't stand over him, since he can use his u-air to keep you in the air. That can become annoying.

If you are doing an online battle with Mr. Game & Watch, your z-air can be affected if there is any lag present. However, as noted, if there are platforms, you can uses these to your advantage if Mr. Game & Watch decides standing on them. Take every opportunity. If you continue to lose, try playing as Mr. Game & Watch and try out the same attacks on CPUs or human players to see how your opponent reacts. If there are any ways of avoiding the attacks, incorporate these methods and use them against Mr. Game & Watch.

You should be familiar with your opponent's attacks so that you'll know what you're going up against. I hope that helps.

I think I know this cause I got ***** by G&W yesterday on wifi. But his keys (dair) go through the platforms on battlefield. So if he's above and you're under a platform watch out and don't stay directly underneath him.

You can crouch if you see him coming down. Link and Toon Link's Master Sword can pierce through the platforms. Still, platforms are useful, because if you see Mr. Game & Watch coming down, you can crouch and then perform either u-smash, f-air or u-air.

I usually shield the dair's he does on platforms, then short hop up air, then jump up air, then upair as I am falling, then up-tilt while spamming A to speed it up. It destroys shield and gives great damage. Also i shiled and downsmash almost every move he does. If he Dairs on the ground i shield it and do a running grab, then hit him as many times as I can. Don't try to fight him off stage too much unless you know exacly what he is going to do because you will probably get stage spiked by his up-b. Also, about his Bair, you can shield it and up-b out of shield right between the last arial hit and the last hit from when he lands... also tech his down throws of you will get chain grabbed (if he is good).

Same. Also I need to work on my tech'ing, which I don't think is wifi friendly. But yeah I used to do it all the time in SSB64 but when SSBM came out I completely forgot about anything shield related.

watch out for his bair, and try not too shoot energy shots. G&W will bucket them and dthrow you into a world of oil fillled hurt. You need to take advantage of g&w's light weight. Try to kill him off at earlier percents. You can grab him often when hes trying to approach with a smash too. Try not to stay too close too him at higher percents because he will probably dsmash which is EXTREMELY fast and will definitely kill you. You can spot dodge his dair and punish it with whatever attack you please too. I play g&w, and a good samus is scary against him

Hey Tudor, before I never really had a chance to watch all of your vids against g&w, maybe like 3 or 4. But yeah after reading your strategies I went and watched them all. So yeah they were awesome, and I was able to see how you applied your techniques. Hopefully it should improve my game. More practice I need.
