I was experimenting with some stuff yesterday. I believe falling Naryu's Love in the third video might have some use as a mixup, and my game has been generally absent of NL which deserves more creative use defensively. I never noticed before how long I hide in my shield as Zelda. I still need to grab more!!! The pivot grab in the first match was pretty weird, though. I'm liking true pivot fox trots very much... hi Melee Zelda. I think I developed a bad Din'sing habit. I also keep forgetting to spam teleport cancels in friendlies.

Well your Sheik is like super super aggressive lol. I don't really like dash attack all that much but if it works for you I guess then go with it. You missed a couple easy edgeguard opportunities and I would recommend using bair instead of fair more.

I still think your Zelda is superior to your Sheik by a good amount, you seem to have a very good understanding of her capabilities. Try grabbing a little more...... I know thats easier said than done against Diddy and Luigi.....but I really think Zelda players should grab a lot more.

agreed on grabbing. my sheik is better and (less aggressive) than the videos show and she's actually my tourney char right now.

Sheik is just so adaptable. Villi do you ever go straight Zelda against certain characters? And what matchups don't you like that you use a counterpick character?

I still don't like meta and marth. I use peach vs meta sometimes, but sometimes I don't feel like it when I think I have a chance lol. I used straight zelda against IC ftw today. w00t. Fsmash and din's is too good.

Meh, Marth's a really tough matchup. I think you could possibly be living a little longer if you ever trained yourself to use bair for momentum cancelling. Your one of the few Zelda's that actually use bair OoS like it should be used. I'm loving the usage of nair as well.

I've tried experimenting with Naryus and I think it can be very good if your absolutely sure it will hit. I've attempted using it as a counter move or using it to escape locks, but the mechanics of the move make that nearly impossible and my opponent only takes like 1%. It's hard trying to use it OoS as well because if you happen to miss....your screwed. I'll start trying to work it into my gimp game. This next month i'm going to go Naryus heavy and work on this new dtilt to bair/fair stuff and see where it gets me.

I have to see if I can use it to cancel non-lethal momentum early if it'll give me a bigger NL-boost window. I remember the NL oos moment... I thought it would be sexy to b-reverse it oos and I was trying very hard to get a gimp. u_u

I used NL boost to escape a slow dance, in a video I didn't post, before it broke/poked my shield. It didn't damage him at all, but I escaped safely to the top platform of BF.

I think that a falling NL would be good if you think they're going to chase you and a rising one would be useful if you want to recover high. I think Zelda has more options than meets the eye when recovering from above. The timing for NL's invincibility is pretty similar to an air dodge, just that you trade longer invincibility for a hit-box and more lag. Stalling above someone's head with NL is a decent mix-up on people who will wait on the ground for you instead of chasing with aerials. Invincibility can protect you from an up smash, and with correct spacing, you should be able to land the very last hitbox as you fall. Some Marths especially likes to wait for you to air dodge into the ground to sword dance.

I rewatched my videos today and noted some things I want to work on next time I can play...

Vid 1:

- Faster reactions OOS
- More pivot grabs. Maybe Jab/dtilt -> pivot grab. Hi Snake <3
- More grab/up smash mix ups
- FW into the ground was dumb when I still had my double jump.
- Don't get baited into using NL before a hitbox could get them at ground level.
- Ick, technical errors trying to fox trot.
- A hit-box during retreating full-jumps couldn't hurt.
- Dtilt lock into tech-chase fail. I predicted dodge roll spacing and didn't even notice that he tripped.
- Another use of FW with an unused double jump.
- Ugh, 3:10... there has to be a way I coulda made that Din's hit or forced him into a better position. Maybe spacing away and shifting the trajectory downward might have worked. :{

Vid 2:

- I liked the random NL stall offstage. I'll have to keep that in mind.
- 0:52 ... up smash woulda been nice.
- I reeaally hafta remember that down tilted ftilt can hit someone's head hanging from the ledge and stage spike them. But not so much on YI.
- Raandom true pivot dsmash at 1:36. Must look into it.
- Yay for platform landing. I gotta try landing with an auto-canceled up air more.
- 1:53 no point in going for a bair there... A nair would have given me time to punish his roll.
- Gosh I love that dash cross up bair.
- 2:37 would have been a great place to try bair and recover high with rising NL.
- 2:43 seems like over the ledge is an ok place to take a bad position over punishment for/with an NL stall. >.>
- 2:51 Wasn't worth it.
- 4:10 ownd

Vid 3:

- Hum, I gotta remember to at least try to keep an advantaged stage position when I can get one against Marth.
- Gurr, sword dance mind games. Gotta work on SDI on that DB 4 and punish it with dtilt/dsmash. Or just bail out with a furgin up smash/nair/NL.
- Falling NL is so purty.
- 2:19, prolly could have done another NL.
- 2:38 wtf. Shoulda upsmashed.

Vid 4:

- 0:08 GRAB! Low percent dash attacks -_- Then again, if I didn't mess up, I would have gotten another dash attack in. Hrm. I kinda forgot about dash attack chains.
- 0:18 Sloppy. Two dsmash back hits in a row.
- 0:33 lolyay
- 0:41 O.O There's no reason why I shouldn't have faired or air dodged.
- 0:46 l2techroll. kthnx.
- 1:04 yus, more crouches.
- 1:25 I went ADD and missed an up air opportunity.
- Oh well, I have to keep in mind I can buffer more than dtilts out of nair.
- 1:38 yay teleport cancels!
- 1:40 :(
- Needs moar teleport cancels. >.>

Vid 5:

- 1:04 Yeah, I should watch out for the trip animation.
- ... this match just reminds me how well Zelda can potentially recover from above. I saw a few points where I think I might've been able to FW horizontally and grab the ledge on the other side of the stage from where I was in the air. And some times when using a rising NL might have given me more options.
