I like video games, they pass time and also are very fun. I noticed everytime I finished I can't think of anything else and I feel like a complete idiot. Now I read in an artical don't play video games for a while. I thought ha ha very cute. Well I listened and time gies by very slowly and I am not having as much fun as I used to. So I only play to practice for smash tournaments or if I have company or if I need to play and I haven't played in for ever. So skrew this just skrew it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd argue that sufficiently competitive VGs make you smarter because you have to constantly think and outwit your opponents.

I'd argue that excess of anything has an adverse effect on you in some way.

Of course, I do a lot of things in excess so I can't preach, but I'm perfectly content with the consequences of my excesses, and you should understand the consequences and be okay with them if you honestly want to do anything in such a fashion.

Video games are no worse than any other hobby, just so long as you don't do it too long at a time. Otherwise your hands feel numb afterwards. :urg:

The only thing I don't like about video games is this: memorising frame data for several different characters across three different fighting games, spanning literally hundreds of moves in total, is easy. Yet remembering a few historical sources and a handful of quotes from novels/plays is somehow difficult? :urg:

I agree. During college, Runescape about destroyed my whole life. I stopped hanging out with friends, studying, or even going to class. That's why I now have a strict no MMO policy. Other games besides MMOs can be addictive I'm sure, but MMOs have got to be the worst.

It's no different from anything other hobby, it's just that you think it is because you read that article so you start looking for things you didn't see before and exaggerate them. Happens all the time.

Well, this is my bit of philosophy.

Nothing in life is really worth doing unless you feel it is worth doing. So long as you felt it was worth doing at the time of execution there is nothing wrong. Even if you feel time was wasted, you probably did not feel this way in the momennt or else you would not have done it. A reflection upon the past and finding anything wrong with it is merely a comparision with your present ideals which will always be changing. Probably best to accept the past that you had and enjoy the present one.
