The smash balls look as though you have to remain neutral to "absorb" them, however you can knock it around to keep it away from opponents.
In order for the effects to be activated, you have to hit them enough to get the power. You can also retain them and release them upon your will. Also, if you are attacked enough during your Final Smash, it will cancel, and the power will go away in the form of another smash ball.

Also, the C-stick for smash attacks is back. It's the right stick for the Classic Control.

The gameplay looks so smooth, and MetaKnight is Broken.

God, I hate it when people film OFF THE FRIGGEN CONTROLLER. WE CAN'T SEE THE GAME IF WE JUST SEE SOME FRIGGEN HANDS.

God, sometimes these people are just a bunch of *******.

How are people already playing this? I thought that it wasn't until the 18th.

I want to see a screen shot of the Little Mac AT. Is it the NES Mac or the SNES Mac? And is the Power Drill AT Jill from Drill Dozer?

Somebody try to get a better pic of Peach final smash. I can't tell what's happening.

There's a Gardevoir pokeball? That's great! Somebody post a screen shot of it, so I can print it out and staple it to Fawriel's face.

Has anybody tried picking Samus and holding A until the match begins yet? I bet you can start out as ZSS.

A video of Link vs. Sonic is all I needed to see to be very super happy, and I only watched the first few seconds of it.

...Entrances return!

I honestly doubt that they'd put a hidden character in the playable demo, so I think that Sonic pretty much proves that 3rd party characters won't be automatically hidden.

I don't think that any of the characters that have been shown so far are hidden, because when they started showing Melee hidden characters they said that they were hidden. I think they'll do the same thing for Brawl. I'm convinced now that this game will have 40 characters or more, because of the amount of time they've been working on it and the fact that there are seemingly 22+ starting characters.

Guys, you can't confirm the stage selection screen or character selection screen because the way it is now wouldn't allow enough room for all of the old players, and a bit of new ones. Same thing with stages.

Exactly. It's just a demo layout of the stages similar with the Melee demo. Things get moved around in the end.

Slowly starting to enjoy my mothertongue again. :)
Fox has his U-smash back. His Fair has more control.

Now, I just have to look out for the shine.
I saw it in a video. It still has the same trajctory, but I don't know wether it's still jump cancellable, as the player was a noob. About Brawl being a combo fest, it looks like all moves have more hitlag, so I think DI will **** combos.

Entrances being back is ****ing awesomeee

However, one thing i did realise when i saw the character selects was as soon as we go on Wifi our hidden characters will be revealed, as there would be SO much hassle randomly selecting players with the same characters as you, or restricting their characters as it may ruin your experience

Strikers Charged no.2? Oh well i'll just unlock everyone before i go online XDXDXD

P.s these videos were the best way to start my day, seriously

Smash DI seems like it's going to be easier.
Indeed it does. This will probably lower the barrier between journeyman and pro. Hmm.... I wonder.... I think that they will somehow sort it out. DI was pretty good in Melee, but I think they want less skilled people (read: noobs) to also know about DI, so they might make it easier and less effective.

I really think now that waveshining will be back. Shine is there, it"s most likely jc'able, and WD seems to have good chances.

Man...entrances are so awesome...I wonder why they were taken out of Melee...oh well...for those following the updates, every character would be revealed anyway (for the most part; we already have like 16 characters confirmed and we have 3 months till launch).

I've noticed that when a character gets behind the percentage meters the pictures in the meters go transparent. That makes me happy. I'd hate to have a picture be the reason I died.

EDIT: In this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=C-6j2LUCZ6w Mario does what looks like a WD but is really him doing his tornado, and what seems like a glitch where the tornado gets interrupted and he does a WD on the ground. It happens about 10 seconds into the video. Look at the high res one on IGN for a better look.
That's a cool find. It's not a Wavedash, but he certainly does slide, which is the first we've seen of that. Directional air-dodging is confirmed, and sliding is confirmed. That means that the only way Wavedashing WON'T be in Brawl is if Sakurai (purposefully) made air-dodging onto the ground simply plant your character. And I honestly doubt that, because if air-dodging planted your character where he landed, "Wavedashing" would be a REALLY easy way to completely stop your momentum.

The Drill Dozer AT is infact Jill flying across the stage with a drill, and yes, it's 3D and not pixelated like Excitebike or the Advance Wars AT seen in the Battlfield Stage. The Jill AT can be seen in the Castle Siege video.

Samus's F-Smash is aim-able like her F-Tilt.
You could aim it in Melee as well.

The way Final Smashes are set up... it looks decently balanced. Sure, many of them are insanely powerful, but the entire setup for them is pretty good. Having to hit the smash ball limits the fast character advantage, to an extent. The ability to knock it out of people before they use it is cool, and they don't seem to be insta-win. A computer Yoshi evades Pit's fairly well in one video, and in another Mario gets only partially hit by Samus's and takes 44%... which is prolly far less than we were expecting.

Nevermind snapshots... all these videos are our update this weekend. :D
