You did better in the 2nd half of the fight. Was it lagging? One thing I will say is that you should use his tilts. Ftilt and Utilt have pretty decent range and they can kill. Dtilt can spike opponents that cling to the ledge. Keep at it, I believe your Link will be better!

I finally finished my video comparing Link's moveset from Brawl to Smash U. Took way longer than I thought it would but I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

Don't forget to set it to 60fps! Also youtube let's you slow down the video to 1/4 speed which is super helpful for comparing moves. There's a full list of everything shown in the video with time stamps in the description so if you're wanting to see a specific move you can jump straight to it.

Here's a list of all the noticeable changes I saw while making this. Most of these have been mentioned before but I'll include them anyway for completions sake.

• Dash speed and air speed seem to be a tad bit faster
• Double Jump is higher
• Spot Dodge is slower
• Both rolls are faster, especially back roll.
• Up smash and both swings of forward smash have more ending lag
• Grab has less ending lag but also less range
• Nair seems to last longer (insert joke about sex kick lasting longer here)
• Due to Nair lasting longer, it no longer auto cancels when short hopped
• Uair and Dair both have less landing lag
• Zair has more range
• Bow charges up slightly faster
• Gale Boomerang has a much faster catching animation
• Gale effect seems to be weaker
• Bombs explode 1.33 seconds sooner
• Aerial spin attack goes higher

What Smash game were you playing before this? Cause you picked up Sm4sh Link pretty quickly. I can see myself playing Link through your videos. That kill combo with Robin was BEAUTIFUL. Just keep fighting these characters and become familiar with the MUs. You'll be wrecking them soon enough.

GAZER's Link looks very intimidating. Using the down-thrown bombs and catching them as sort of a mind-game is excellent. Ganondorf players would TREMBLE.
Smasher's custom Link playstyle seems extremely risky, but VERY interesting. Would be a great topic for discussion in the Metagame thread.

The way he uses the meteor bombs after a spin attack as an approach is actually genius.

Why Genius? For me it's pointlessly complicated and it exemplifies one of the pet peeves I had in Brawl; that whole match does actually. People are more concerned with looking good that with being effective and so sacrifice that, efficiency. They try to look great and whiff the kill. The only thing he accomplished both times he pulled that stunt is racking damage on himself and getting punished on the second time. That move is actually worse than just SHFF nair into the shield since it's even more telegraphed. Maybe I'm missing something, but all I saw is someone trying to look as good as possible at the expense of actually killing the opponent. I think that he hurt himself more with his own bombs by trying to be flashy than he hurt Wario with them.

Now, the second match, Gazer's, that's a lot better. The ATs are used effectively, to kill not to impress aesthetically. That match is more about actually being effective than looking good, and by being good he ends up looking good.

@ Elessar I just loved how unexpected it was. If you pull off an aerial spin attack like that then your opponent is going to expect an easy kill. Then your bomb knocks you out of it and you get an attack in. It seems like you could really get inside their head.

Now I totally agree that he did some really unnecessary, flashy stuff. The down throw to Dair at 0:54 was pointless. Also, trying to do the aerial spin attack to bomb explosion the second and third time wasn't too smart because he was expecting it at that point.

I actually hadn't watched Gazer's match until just now. That was definitely some solid Link play.

That ending man...horrible. I agree with the commentators, Halberd should be banned (it should've always been banned) There are simply too many stage hazards and they are game defining).

On a positive note, Kirin's spam game was flawless, really. I'm blown.

If the match didn't feel like it was 2/3 speed I think I could have won. Johns aside, I didn't adjust my spam game well enough. I'm sure I could beat him next time. :b

Dude. You probably play the best defensive Link I have ever seen. You take advantage of all his defensive options (especially in the Samus fight), which is good. I think I might consider using some aspects of your meta for the ZSS MU. If you were going for being a total troll with Link online, you get a solid 10/10.

The only thing I don't like though is that you severely limit many of his other options and reduce yourself to spamming projectiles and recovering low with spin attack. A really good competitive player would see this and find a way to punish you hard for it. They also won't run into all your attacks like the other players did in your matches. You play your Link with what I call "Iron Boots," meaning you play him solely on the ground and never leave the stage. Basically, you play like Little Mac, and that only takes Link so far. You should use some of his aerials more, take advantage of more ATs, use Zair (clawshot in the air). Open yourself up to the many other things Link can do. He's a very versatile character with lots of potential, so experiment with his many options. DO MORE WITH LINK.

Don't invade a video thread to ask for pointers. Read the rules and follow them. I you want a critique in a video thread, then post a damn replay. Really, why would you come in here and try to derail the thread? There are many threads that already deal with new Links, and we don't need anymore. Either post your question on social or post a replay here to get critiqued, not just your hollow questions.
