Variations on Toad?

All characters have customizable specials but what will happen to Toad? Will there be a move where Peach lobs him at foes or one where he's let loose running back and forth like a hyper Wobuffet?

Fascinating. Maybe we can deploy him to fight for us? Use spores? Hmm.

I'm sure we'll have some use for Toad. Digging the idea too, as well.

Judging by the customisation options we've seen for characters so far, it'll probably be some slight variation on what the original Toad does.

I think it would be very cool if she had other options though. Maybe she could pull out a Potted Piranha Plant from SM3DW that chomps nearby enemies? I wouldn't be surprised to see some inspiration from SM3DW being applied to Peach this time round.

She may throw Toad at the adversary, like King Dedede does with the Gordos in his "Waddle Dee Toss" move.

The spores idea is interesting.

Obviously, she uses something else entirely because the removed Toad to be a playable character.

Peach needs to let Toad go. She can use Toadsworth or Perry.

What if it is like Zelda's phantom move, but she throws him out and if hit he lets spores out.

Maybe she could put Toad on the ground and he could start running until he reaches someone. Once he reaches someone he could pick them up and throw them forward. Like a long range command throw? Plus Toad's two major abilities are his speed and strength. This move would show both.

Variant 1: Pulls out Toadette to counter
Variant 2: Pulls out Toadsworth to counter

Toad could stun her opponent with a spore as another.

I really like this Idea cause that would make counter picking rush characters more intriguing and if you're edge guarding then you can't use smash attacks against her because then you'll just heal her for more health. I can see this being better than her normal counter cause could you imagine healing from a Falcon Punch or Samus Energy blast.

Also I see a lot of competitive players don't use Toad very much, is he too risky of a move to use?

Maybe if she pulls out Toadsworth, shorter duration but reflects projectiles.
Then again, I have the feeling we are all getting our hopes up with custom moves and its just gonna be strength and speed variation of the same animation. With the exception of Palutena and Miis (and a 3rd character perhaps).

Throwing Toad would be pretty funny.

But I just want to see some giant turnips.

Captain Toad: Higher knockback, less damage, a "counter" move like marth's dwon-b

Toadsworth: No knockback, bigger range, multi-hit high-stun

At least one of the alts was confirmed today by the Treehouse to be what they called "Grumpy Toad", which deals damage in exchange for not being a counter. Didn't really see any visual changes on that one.
