So this is a doujin fighter made by one man, Sugeno Tomoaki, formerly of the capcom SF staff. The artwork and sprite work are AMAZING, not just for a doujin fighter but for fighters in general. It's all hot anime girls in anime outfits. They all wear skirts and dresses and stuff and the animation includes a LOT of unnecessary (or necessary?) panty shots. And anyone can download the game for free.

xD Anyway, that's just the first impression that anyone would get from the game.

I have played it, and the gameplay mechanics are actually really sweet. Stuff is pretty hard to perform. My friend put it into perspective by telling me Melty Blood had like an 8-frame buffer for comboing certain moves, but this game (especially playing on keyboard) is pretty **** hard to have accurate inputs for combos and stuff. There are not a lot of natural combos for each character, but the main idea is to create your own links using the assists. There are 4 different assists (hot lolis) each with different mixups you can use.

So yeah, you guys could check it out!
It's a free downloadable game, so there should be no problem posting the link here right?
http://www.vector.co.jp/download/file/win95/game/fh482384.html
^straight to the download^

In order for it to work, you have to go to the control panel and change your system language and locale to Japanese. I'm on Vista, and I did that, but pretty much nothing changed. All my menus and everything are still in English, so don't worry about it.

So if you guys have played it, what do you guys think?

The girls are hot and the game mechanics are good. That's pretty much what keeps me going lol.

It's actually created by fighting game maker, which is why a lot of people already have a poor preconception of it... but the mechanics are actually very impressive. There are restun infinites, so I don't know how that will affect the metagame if this game really catches on (which it might, since the /jp/ gamers from 4chan are all over it.)

Don't get the wrong idea... it's not really a combo-oriented game like Melty Blood, it just falls into the genre of "doujin game." And heck, it's not even a doujin, it's completely original. If it's distasteful because of the girls... well, I'm sure the creator knows that the people who play fighting games are men, and to draw in an audience for his game which has amazing animation, why not put in attractive girls that look amazing?

Insensitive, distasteful, call it what you want. It's a good game, and the 'look' of the game definitely drew me in. Who doesn't pick morrigan or felicia when you play darkstalkers? :p

You got a point there, honestly I have always wanted to play a game like that, I have never played a fighting game with those kind of sprites, I don't really think it's distasteful because of the girls TBH I just mearly stated that it might get me quite distracted, and beside I still live with my mummy so things might get akward if she sees it.

If you go to the control panel and change the regional settings, you don't just change the language. You also change your 'system locale' where you also have to restart your comp. It has to be Japan. Did you try that?

Control Panel
Regional and Language Options
Second Tab>Check the box that tells you to Install Files for East Asian languages, if you haven't already. You'll need to put in your Windows XP disc (or Vista disc, if you're running Vista I guess) to install.
Third Tab>Under Language for Non-Unicode programs, change the dropdown bar to Japanese.

I got these instructions from another site, but I'm not sure if they work myself since I can't find my XP disc. Currently trying to find an outside source to add the languages. Also not sure if this is what you meant by "changed the language to Japanese", so I could be telling you to do things you already did. >_>

Alright so, I played a bit. It's pretty sweet.

The game mechanics are pretty weird tho. Well, never played MB before but it doesn't look like you can combo as well as GG/MvC, but it doesn't look like it's a zoning game like SF.

I currently trying to make this game work, but it doesn't have any sound. ;_;

Oh well, I'll try to figure out what went wrong, the gameplay is great and the speed is great, just I have to figure out why I can't hear anything.

THIS GAME BLOWS

Look at this ****. You have these half, if not almost entirely naked cutesy young girls fighting one another as a means of turning on the little webpervs out there all under the oppression of these dark, looming, blatantly male figures. I'm no femi-nazi, but hell, this is ridiculous. This is not a stylized anime fighter, it's a poor excuse for hentai. It's like searching wikipedia for v*ginas or boobs as an alternative to porn because you don't want to feel the guilt of actually looking at legitimate pornography. This game is the saddest thing since Billy Mays' death. **** it.

You did play this game Spire, please tell me you did. I dislike it when people judge a game before trying it. Not even half of the girls in this game are dressed like that but a few select.

My thoughts, the gameplay of this game is great, just the fact that this game needs online, or at least I think it does but I don't know how to make it work. This game is new and came out not too long ago, I guess they might add it later or so.

No, which is why I posted a rant about its aesthetics rather than its gameplay. I'm not just concerned with the pitiful semi-hentai style of the game, but rather with the fact that a number of these girls resemble pubescents and are surrounded by such dominating male figures.

My verdict? I don't care a thing about the gameplay - the design is utterly pitiful. Have fun ****ing to a video game.

Wow, I guess it's true that some people don't like games like that... or anime's like that. O_o

Also, I got my sound working, so there's nothing wrong with it, it's just that I didn't put my CPU locale to Japanese is all.

Definitely. The sprite work is incredibly smooth and detailed. I don't really care what Spire III thinks, sometimes I just get caught staring at the game while doing certain moves, etc. Gotta realize that some men like this stuff, and you can't make them not like it by complaining. It's a fighter made for fans of fighters. If you've played MB or GG or anything like that, you would appreciate this game a lot more. The mechanics are great.

So far I main Kaede and Kurumi. Kurumi seems like a joke character with only 1 special move and mediocre zoning... but the fact that she has that fusion attack makes her seem kinda col. Kaede fits my style the best so far since she can zone pretty well. Pulling off combos using the assists is still soooo hard for me.

The momentum of this game is VERY strange... I find the computers on hard mode very difficult since they tick throw a lot and the movements are just hard to follow sometimes. I suppose the harder it is for a fighter, the more competitive it can become... I don't see anything broken so far. That girl with the guns is pretty intense, but I don't think she even has a grab so you can kinda turtle her. She also doesn't have a lot of fast options (since you need to dash first to get into shooting position) so it's not that hard to pressure her.

Saki is one of the best characters IMO, and also Eri because she has a lot of natural combos... but my friend mains Saki so I don't wanna use her xD. And Eri just doesn't fit me, even though she's cute.

So, while my download continues, I have a question: Does this game support custom inputs, such as a gamepad or USB arcade joystick? Also, how hard is it to get into not knowing Japanese? The website was a bit intimidating, but I managed to find my way around and get the download going.

It's safe to say that Saki Mitonoya, (the girl with the sword), is my favroite since I play better with her, and I like her transparent sword techs. As for the story mode, easy was... well easy since I didn't really try, normal made me continue five times, but hard is just ******, IMO. It was fine until Himeki Luna, (the girl with the hax guns). Playing vs her made me relize that I'm a noob at this game, it took me more than ten continues to win two rounds. After that I just too a break. ^_^;

One thing I found about Luna was:

-Make her kick <.<, and watch her closely.

See? ^_^

and Saki ftw! Her and the ones with the tonfa.

I tried to get good with Kurumi, but because of her lack of options I called it quits. I use Kaede now, and I am gonna give hard mode another shot.

LOL nice Karasu

But Kurumi fusion ability is so worth getting good with her, lol. Kaede is great to. I'm trying to get good with Eri after seeing her restun combo. XD

Spire III. We get it. You don't like the art direction of the game and why. We didn't need your rant trashing those who DO like this art direction. It's idiotic.

@topic. Interesting game. But the videos I've seen show a bunch of infinites. Are they viable in matches?

Oh, don't let me voice my opinion. I forgot, threads are about only positivity and support. There's no room for criticism in the world. My rant(s) were posted in a public forum. Expecting everybody to like something is silly and ignorant, or should I say idiotic.

Oh, and was I trashing those who like the design, or the design itself? Because if it's the former, then you're associating yourself with whatever criminalities you may see in my posts, and are thus dissing yourself. Great job metaXzero.

You made 1 post saying you didn't like it and a 2nd one saying why (that's fine). Then you make a 3rd post trashing the game and those who like it. You can't hide behind "I'm statin my opinion" here (especially with your 3rd post's inflammatory tone).

Both. You don't like cutesy, anime-style, and "perverse" games and think those who do are horrible people. I'm fine with opinions until someone flames those who would disagree.

I flamed you guys? I don't recall ever targeting any of you. Again, thanks for assuming the wrong and pointing the gun at yourself.

Anyways, have fun with Vanguard Princess. I'm done.

Either you are dumb or trolling. It's more likely the latter.

But yeah, I'm done too. I made my post and now I go back to my first question: Are infinites viable, or are they too difficult. I'd hate to see this game be MvsC2 or something.
