Usmash ledgeguard

If you've been keeping up with Jfoxes' peach metagame thread, you know we, as peach mains, are in danger of dropping places on the tier list, which I don't want. I'd just like all of you to go look at that thread and post your thoughts, to keep us up with the joneses.

Anyway, I've seen one move used to stop spacies' Illusion and Horizontal firefox recovery. The usmash has a high priority hitbox that stays out for a bit longer than you expect, which knocks spacies out of the previously mentioned. when sweetspotted, it can be a kill; when not it can lead to nair/fair. I like to use this because people consider the dsmash to be peaches' hit for the ledge, and it spreads them too far for my liking.

Is this obsolete yet or do you think it could be more useful than I say?

The only time i would use the upsmash ledgeguard is when they wont sweet spot the ledge. If you use the upsmash it can kill or leave them at the perfect height for a nair or a grab.

I also use the upsmash when a falco jumps cuz it beats his dair but thats only if he full jumps.

Dark peach told me about this a while ago but i dont really use it too much.

imo its not that good. any practical use of upsmash as an edgeguard can easily be replaced with a well timed fair, and the upsmash is an all in decision which forces you to commit yourself to a prediction rather than leaving your options open. What i do is sit in float, wait to see if my opponent is going to forward b and than react with dair or nair. And if they choose to up b, I use fair which has less lag after the hit and also hits them far out.

IMO usmash edgegaurd looks cool but is not the best option each has to edgegaurd spacies.

Not the best option, but good for a mixup. I'd seriously use it to punish someone who doesn't sweetspot though. It's funny to watch people see a charged smash and thik it's Dsmash. The Illusion over and get hit with a charged Usmash. It's good for mind game, at least. It's not really a "great" option. However, it's something that is useful and has it's place.

What it IS useful for is beating out some dangers Dairs. Like Link/Y.Link. One of the first things I learned was that Peach's Usmash beats their Dair out. It's a rather safe option for facing the situation. It can also be used for combos especially if it's not sweetspotted.

the only problem is it becomes super predicable, i used to do it a lot, but when you start playing people like zhu, lucky, and lovage, or even like medium skill fox, it might work once but it's pretty obvious and easy to get around

it can work against the ic's, i've done it a few times when it's just one, he might go just above you so it's easy to hit with an upsmash and if you notice his heigth, you can charge it because he'll be force to go just over you

but again, i'm sure that if you become predictable with it they can find away around it, i only tried in 2 friendlies with fly aminita, so i didn't have time to see if he could get around it

I use upsmash to kill on Mute City vs spacies. Ones that firefox poorly roflz. It's pretty funny actually. I killed a fox 3 times in a match with this. I lost the match but that's besides the point. Killing in the same sentence with Peach usually doesn't make sense.
