As of June 25th, 2009, I've started on a project to document Snake's up tilt kill percentages on different stages. This project will be a pain in the ***, but in the end, I'm sure it will be a worthy contribution to the Snake boards.

Criteria for testing:
  • Character is standing right next to Snake, facing him.
  • Character is hit with a Training Mode up tilt (apparently different from a fresh up tilt in a match)
  • All work is done in Training mode, with the opponent set to "control".
  • No button inputs by the test subject.
  • No DI at all.

threads like this would be much more helpful if they took di into account, cause a player will never use no di. ever.

Yeah, but DI is never consistent. Some people do it well, some people not so much. Now if somebody with perfect DI helped him out, it'd be different. But nobody has perfect DI.

Jeez, 6 posts really necessary? :p
Agreed. Just enough for a ban. :psycho:

There isn't enough information for 6 posts. And no DI isn't helpful. At least controlstick down + fastest aerial's decent DI. Not very helpful.

SuSa can delete one or two if I don't need them. I wanted to keep one reserved for each neutral, but now that I got some sleep, I can see how stupid I was.

EDIT: The more I look at these numbers, the more I think that there's some kind of formula out there that people can use to calculate kill percentages for certain moves...Well, I'm not good at math, so it ain't my problem.

I'm sure there is, but we're all gamers here. We play smash and doesn't afraid of anything. Except math.

It'd probably be something like gravity, the weight and falling speed of each character, and the knockback values of the move all thrown into the blender of a nerd's brain until it pops out a percent for us. But I have no idea how to arrange those values into a formula or exactly what numbers you would use for knockback or gravity. I know we have numbers for falling speed and weight though.

With no DI is the absolute lowest % someone will die from an up tilt in case some of you don't understand why that is useful. That is a "if you use up tilt before this % you are wasting it, because even without DI your opponent will live"

Also I really do think there is a way to do this with math. If I can find the formula for DI on FD (which I already have, and I will save you time. ;) we have this data with and without DI) then I can use that formula and change it slightly for other stages by finding 1-2 people with DI, finding the formula, then plugging in numbers.

as straked said would be very good if you took momentum cancel into consideration since people usualy does it

good job anyways

King DeDeDe is about 1% higher. I was planning on doing the same thing with DeDeDe's Utilt (if it hadn't been done already) except with LIVE online players with and without DI. If I can get SuSa to cooperate with me on this, it should be done in about a week or two.

Can anyone clarify for me why bowser's kill percent is so low compared to other heavies? Does it have to do with his size?

Each character has a vertical and horizontal knockback resistance. That determines which percents they get KOed at. For example, other heavies have slighly better knockback resistance compared to bowser, but he has slightly better horizontal knockback resistance compared to a few of the same.

How resistance is combined to moves that kill diagonally like DK's Fsmash I have no idea.

Pythagorean perhaps?

Well, I didn't know that O_O I thought vertical KO resistance was mostly based on weight.

well i know it'd be complicated >_> depending on the angle, you'd have to factor in the sines and cosines of each resistance in order to calculate it.

It'd be nice to see something like, the minimum and almost max of sorts for the percent someone will die at on each stage.

assuming no DI is pointless. Id MUCH rather know the % where the enemy will not survive the utilt no matter what instead of the % where the chance of a kill is 100% related to my enemies ability to make no effort to survive it.

Exactly, especially considering that uptilt fresh is better than uptilt in training mode.

Should have an extra category. What percentage would it take to kill with Ally DI?
