You should always vote for who you want and not who you think is most likely (especially in an official ballot).
Because even if you're the only person voting for a character, that single vote might stand out to the dev team.
I think if I gave some clear ideas on how he could work, it might've mattered to even the slightest degree. It feels like more of "ooh, this guy could be cool", but who is going to look for details on an unheard of game?
There's a reason I try to clearly describe a lot of it, good and bad. An honest answer is always the best.
Besides that, I also worry that if it got remade, it'd lose a significant amount of charm to it. The battle system is beyond perfect with "one character". The only way to really work in multiple has to be like an MMORPG, where everybody can move. But it's also turn-based, which makes it a bit more difficult. And then if you add more characters, you have A.I. problems. They target you, the player. So you have to make them more dynamic as is. The game is that focused on "one guy" that it's near impossible to re-balance for multiple party members. Stuff like fixing spell accuracy rates/damage/how often you gain experience/item drops/other small things that make it work better(I.E. readable signs, inventory management stuff) are eassssssy in comparison. Not necessarily to program, but to hard plan out without compromising the key gameplay. It's like giving FFVII an all new battle system similar to Kingdom Hearts. That's now how it's played. That's not the game. You stick with ATB at all times. Absolutely keep the option of "true turn-based" too, so no time limit to select an option. You can focus on other stuff like fixing glitches, making mini-games less difficult to work right(less RNG, more responsive, etc.). But you never mess with the core gameplay. Ever. That's a recipe for disaster. You simply update it but keep it still working the same. Dragon Quest 1 got remade so you could just press A to open doors, go down stairs, open chests, and talk to people. This is how you update it correctly. You still keep the same core even if the menu is smaller.
