So I have been thinking of buying a New Tv latey, but alot of HD tvs have lag when you play SSB on them also its a pain to carry big old tvs around when you have to take them to tournaments and stuff. So Now I am asking you guys what type of Tv would you get?? out of the TVs that are out there and would it have HD or would it have to be old in order to play this game with out lag.

I've always found smash to look much better on CRTs, and you can prob find a reasonably sized one for free on craigslist. That's what I would try.

For some reason, I can easily tell when there is lag on a TV (it usually affects me greatly... while others don't notice it at all). But a test that works for most people is on the character select screen, flick your control stick in a direction very fast. If the hand moves well after you flicked the control stick, it has lag. (as in... you flick the control stick in a direction and have the stick return to the neutral position in a couple of frames).

But yeah... I don't know why, but hdtv lag kills me in every game... even against melee players ten times better than me who don't even notice the lag.

It really bothers me when people don't notice obvious lag. Cause then I feel like a *****, being the only one complaining. It sucks, cause noticeable lag makes playing almost not worth it to me.

Most HDTVs and some newer non HDs I've played on have noticeable lag

If the people you're playing with don't notice it, they probably aren't good enough to consider playing seriously <_<

Uh... just because they don't notice doesn't mean they aren't good. They probably got used to the lag.

Anyways, in my example, the top melee players in Victoria all hung out at this guys place, and I was the only one who really noticed the lag (to the point where I said I had to play on a regular TV). Though I was nowhere near the best at melee there.
