Why is that when I play melee on a smaller sized TV I can l-cancel and play much faster than a larger one?

Is the size have anything to do with the time the move comes out?

And what size TV's do you play on generally?

Some newer TVs might have a bit of lag, but it wouldn't be enough to speed up your game.... I doubt it has anything to do with it. If anything, the only reason I could see it improving your game is because you can see more of the stage.

I usually play on my friends plasma screen. It's pretty huge (although I'm not too fond of plasma TVs). I have a puny "19 box TV in my room. It's not old, but it's still small.

The TV they're playing on in that match is the type that I have.

Or maybe it just feels different? I was playing on a very, very small tv myself (Around 19, yeah) but now I got a 50+ inch... =0 Took some getting used to, but I love it

Listen to what I have to say now because it is correct:

If your TV has a 1080p output, IT WILL BE SLIGHTLY MORE LAGGY THAN A TV WITH A SMALLER OUTPUT.

Sorry but it's still a 8 millisecond response time. Fact. It wasn't cheap but it was worth it.

I noticed this my Melee seemed slower as well when I got a new 32 inch widescreen t.v. compared to my old 20 some inch t.v. I got back in 1994. I figured it was just me though but it's interesting that this thread was posted. My new t.v. might lag a bit though. The new t.v. is great for movies but for some reason I like the old one for games like Melee.

I find that my 22inch TV is perfect for playing fighting games. Because too small and you can barely see but too big and some times you get lag.

I'm not sure but I have played on a lag tv and it seems the same speed, but slower reaction. However I think that it probably has somethin to do with the size of the tv. If the tv is smaller, it seems like you see alot going on at one time because the view is smaller.

With a bigger tv it seems like you can see everything. And bigger=slower somewhat. It's like an illusion if you ask me.

-And I play on a medium sized tv. It's about 26in so it's perfect for me. -

Well heres a logical reason:When you have to play on a smaller screen you usually tend to concentrate of whats going on or if playing. More concentration equates to a more competitive game because there literately is less breathing room for you and your friend.

-tvs response time is highly a factor to playing faster.

lol, true. Lag is the only acceptable TV john. I practice on a 12", and my friend has a freaking huge TV, so I'm good with any size XD.

You can not play melee on an lcd or plasma tv.There is button latency lag that you can not get rid of.This is old news now.It has nothing to do with how good your tvs response time is.That function is just for ghosting. It has to do with upscalling the video because the gamecube outputs 480i . Lcds and plasmas do 720 and above.

The only cure is to play on a standard crt or be gimped this goes for all wii and gamecube games.

Falcon kick.
The size of the TV does not affect the game speed or frame data in the least.
However the resolution of a TV MAY.
One of two things are happening.
Either
1) You're not used to a larger TV and time things incorrectly.
2) The TV you are talking about is more than a 480 in its resolution. Meaning it's an HD.
