So I got some videos taken at the recent penn state tournament. They didn't get the recorder working until the loser's bracket was almost through, so there aren't many videos... but they managed to get some of the good matches. I got 2nd at this, only losing to plank. Anyway, here's the videos, let me know what you think!

Loser's Semifinals: Umbra (MK) vs. Kruton (Snake)
Match 1 + 2
Match 3

Loser's Finals: Umbra (MK) vs. Truth (Diddy Kong)
Match 1
Match 2 + 3
Match 4
Match 5

MK dittos with plank coming sometime next week. :)

If you only want to watch one, I recommend the last match of my set with Truth, I was at my best then IMO. Enjoy!

Isn't not using mindgames a mindgame in itself?

Anyway, I only watched the first vid of Loser's finals but I'll give you some advice anyway. I agree with brinboy saying that you should spend more time in the air and less on the ground. When you are on the ground you also seem to think less about racking up damage and appear to resort to using smashes a lot. In that game I saw you dair less than 10 times, hardly ftilt at all, but you dsmash and fsmash like 30 times each. You got better towards the end but it seemed like you were also having a little trouble keeping pressure on him. Basically I think you need to explore your options more with MK. There were a couple times when you dsmashed where I thought it would have been better to baired, daired, or turned around and ftilted. I hope you keep this in mind more when you're playing.

Other than that, good stuff!

u seem to do well vs diddy good tactics vs him but u should glide toss mks glidetoss goes far and into a grab or downsmash does well. another thing dont dsmash so much lol punish with ftilit a lot more.

there were a lot of matches you COULD have won im like this dudes winning, then u choke.

Yeah, I do tend to choke like that, I get nervous way too easy. The dsmashing is because was right after a melee tournament, and I play a really gay dsmash happy peach. Some habits are hard to break lol

Thanks for the criticism guys, I'll keep all this stuff in mind :)

edit: fizzle i miss you come to the next one

Inb4needsmoarmachtornado.

But seriously, I wish I could help you, but I don't play a good MK (compared to other people).

But as the others have said, you got to use DSmash less, keep it fresh for the kill, anybody can tell you that stall moves are no good.

You could also use the balloon on SV to stall any aerial/speacil you want to get rid of.

lol, at the last tournament I went to before this I got yelled at for spamming mach tornado waaaay to much. It's like I pick one move before a tournament and spam it the entire time.

I can't really spam tornado against either of those people anyway, they're too used to it :(

Which one, and/or are you being sarcastic for both?

Either way, I was being sarcastic for the 1st, and the second was just a check to make sure if he didn't already know, he does now.

Yeah, hitting the balloon works the same way as hitttng the other person as far as stale moves are concerned. You can only hit it once, but it can still be helpful i guess lol

Nop, I wasn't being sarcastic, I really didn't know, so, in order to recover your Dsmash, even a single hit can be helpful, even if it's not that much...

yeah. I believe the game keeps track of the last 10 hits? so hitting the balloon takes one off the queue. Of course, it isn't exactly useful when you spam the dsmash as much as I was, but if you're not playing like an idiot then it can be helpful. lol

Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I think that's how it works...

edit: does anyone know if it counts both hits of the dsmash as one move? or does it count the back hit and front hit differently? I assume it counts them the same way, but I'm not sure. I don't usually worry about this kind of thing lol

I don't think it counts as two hits, because it would be noticeable if the killing power decreased twice less as it should... (assuming you're not using it only in a single direction)

I would assume so. I don't really research these kinds of things at all though, so I'm not sure.
