Yeah, it should translate to Turnabout Prosecutor.

And about the comment about Sora and Roxas being gay, you're kinda right. At least, Nomura caters to fangirls who like Sora X Riku. Don't know about Roxas though.
UMMMMM. Axel?

C'mon, they're fated to be together.

Exactly. Name me one good reason that Gaston wasn't in KH II or one good reason the Tron LightCycles were messed up. Seriously, just ONE reason for each.

What about nostalgia geeks who like Disney? When do we get fan service?
Disney fans got all the fan-service they needed in Fantasia 2000. Seriously, with the way KH butchers the Disney worlds, you're better off watching old House of Mouse episodes on YouTube or something. :ohwell:

Well Gaston really scared me when I was a kid, so obviously Nomura took that into consideration when making the game, and left the guy out for my sake.

And they were saving the Light Cycles for Tr2n/T2rn/Whatever.

Actually, there was some good adaptations here and there. I noticed that the films that were poor had poor worlds.

I just thought of the only justifiable reason. It would be impossible to beat him in the boss fight, as no one fights like Gaston.

Light Cycles were in Space Paranoids in KH II, but here is my gripe.

What we had.

Dude, they killed The Lion King.

KILLED. IT WAS KILLED

...I was actually going to say something vaguely like that as a reason...but I couldn't remember if that was actually from the movie, or if that was just 4chan.

But see, the only explanation for this is that Nomura knew TR2N was coming, so he intentionally 'nerfed' the Light Cycles in the game, so they wouldn't overshadow THE REAL THING.

Even the KH II thing didn't look like TR2N lightcycles.

You couldn't dismount or anything...

KH II lightcycles are a failure. Here's to hoping that KHIII (or BBS or 358/3 or Coded or whatever) has a lightcycle that's at least something like the original Tron movie. We can save the TR2N imitations until the move comes out three years from now.

I've never been too hot on the Lion King, although I would rather watch it than read Hamlet. Even as a kid I saw the huge connection to Kimba. Why won't Disney just admit it it wasn't unintentional?

I thought that was in development hell since the late 80's. Regardless, I don't think so, as KH II still isn't that close.

Maybe we should just revive the Kingdom Hearts thread?

Yeah...I was just foolin'. I have no idea why the Light Cycles aren't that interesting in KH II...

...though maybe it has something to do with the fact that they were just a minigame?

That would be a bad idea, at least as far as I'm concerned. I love the Kingdom Hearts engine and gameplay, but I can't stand the way they handle the Disney licenses or the ridiculously overwrought plot.

So feel free to do so. But I probably won't be visiting. :(

Guys, KH just can't the film adaptations to be as true to their roots as possible. Otherwise, we would be spending like 2 hours in each world that's full of filler stuff.

As long as they got the main plot and characters in it, it should be straight.

And I hope we see more stuff from Disney cartoons like Darkwing Duck. KH1's Atlantica was based on the Little Mermaid series. O:

There's no word on a Sega Capcom crossover game yet.
No, but who really wanted that, anyways?

...Or rather, who really wanted that in the face of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3? Granted, some of that's still guesswork, but...I mean...Marvel says it's happening. What system it's on is besides the point (for me--although I'd really like to see the game looking the way TvC does, and on Wii). MvC3 is coming!

Having another MvC game would be great, but I'm already happy with all the fighting games that's coming out 2009. My mind's going to explode after remember so many move lists!

I would prefer if they made MvC all sprite based, but I doubt that would happen. I just love the artwork for the Marvel characters.

Well, if Destructoid is to be believed (which I personally don't think it is on this one), Capcom'd already have half the roster made if they just removed the Tatsunoko characters from TvC and replaced them with all-new Marvel ones.

And really...have you seen that game in action? It's beautiful. Plus, moreso than ever, 2D on consoles doesn't sell, unless there's a big name attached to it (which...actually in this case I suppose it does...nevermind).

So, assuming the Capcom characters from TvC are the ones that'll go into MvC3...

Really I'm satisfied to see Soki and Batsu in there. But ideally, I'd get to play as...

Capcom
Viewtiful Joe
Dante
Phoenix Wright
Mike Hagaar
Poison
Frank West
Firebrand

Marvel
Toxin
Beta Ray Bill
Swarm
Anti-Venom
Sunfire
Black Panther

...apologies if any of those were already in the MvC roster--it's been a long time since I last had access to an arcade. :chuckle:

Sound's good for the Capcom roster. I hope Dante, Viewtiful Joe, and Phoenix Wright are making it in TvC still.

For Marvel I want one of the Fantastic Four in.

Viewtiful Joe - A fun original game that had it's reputation destroyed pre-maturely, with the Tokusatsu super-hero feel he would feel like a characters that deserves to be in.
Dante - YESH!
Phoenix Wright - Not a big fan of the franchise but seeing how they adapt them to a Versus game would be awesome to see.
Mike Hagaar - Haggar, and YESH!
Poison - We already have her tied into Street Fighter. Why not see her fight on her own?
Frank West - Can't believe I didn't think of this choice! YESH!
Firebrand - Red Arremer, iirc? I'd like to see Arthur first.

Marvel
Toxin - Meh.
Beta Ray Bill - I think Thor is more likely to make an appearance first.
Swarm - In case you guys didn't know, Swarm is an ex-Nazi sympathizer who has a collective body made out of a swarm of radioactive bees. He's cool, but I'd like to see Red Skull first.
Anti-Venom - Haven't read the series, but I have a feeling you like Symbiotes.
Sunfire - One of my favorite horsemen, I think it would have made more sense to see him when Apocalypse was the final villain.
Black Panther - YESH!

...apologies if any of those were already in the MvC roster--it's been a long time since I last had access to an arcade. :chuckle: - None of them were. Don't worry.
I hope they try and put in a story like in the first Versus games. MvC 2 was awesome, but not making the story clear in the arcade and no character finish was a real let-down.

Here's my idea:
The first Versus with X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter games dealt with stopping Apocalypse. Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes had Professor X call the Capcom heroes into the Marvel Universe to stop Onslaught. The behind-story was that when Capcom characters came into the Marvel Universe, their power was increased in scale from their own Universe to combat with the Super Heroes. Now for a MvC 3 story. Galactus learns of the Capcom Universe and goes there to satisfy his hunger. The Marvel Heroes are then called into the Capcom Universe to once again team up with the Capcom Heroes to save their Universe this time. Now going into the Capcom Universe, the Marvel Heroes powers are set down in scale to compare with the rest of the Capcom Heroes. I know this goes against the Marvel vs. Capcom tradition of over the top action and screen filling Super Moves, but making it a bit more technical (not like it already isn't or anything) like SNK vs. Capcom-type action. Since it deals with Galactus, sub-bosses can be either various Heralds of Galactus such as the Fire Lord or Stardust. Silver Surfer is too **** over-powered to be a sub-boss unless they make his side-switch from Galactus to against him part of the story. In terms of keeping Villains, Capcom villains can be "Heralds" too, like one Marvel Villain and one Capcom Villain, or switch depending on which character is your first. Character specific ending movies all-around.

Whatever they do, get more Fantastic Four and Marvel Knights in there.

Alright, first...I think I was under the impression that Arthur was in the game...but I guess I'm thinking of something else. Card Fighters, maybe. Anyway, yeah, Arthur then the Red Devil. Same for Thor/Bill (told you I was rusty).

Swarm's just too awesome not to be in. Screw priority! And yes, I love me some alien symbiotes. :chuckle:

ANYWAY

Plot. I only ever played MvC2, so as far as I know, there's never really been one. And while I don't really care about plot in fighting games of this sort, a few "talking-head" cutscenes for each character and neat endings would definitely be appreciated. And I'm all for the Fantastic 4...but Marvel Knights? I don't know...the only one that really stood out to me (and that, y'know--I actually read) was Doctor Strange...:ohwell:

Also, when you kill someone with a Super Move, they need to bring back the announcer saying the name with Text on the screen. They should have it word by word like the Smash Bros. announcer so when you kill with a team-up move and it combines the names (like Shinku Hadoken and Mega Optic Blast becomes "Shinku Optic Blast") for the announcer to say instead of just screaming "SUPER COMBINATION FINISH!!!"

And I'm all for the Fantastic 4...but Marvel Knights? I don't know...the only one that really stood out to me (and that, y'know--I actually read) was Doctor Strange...:ohwell:
I'd literally have a nerdgasm if Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing all made it in, even if only one is playable and the rest are cameos. I would literally explode with joy if Silver Surfer, the only one character in the Marvel Universe that I would dare call cooler than all of the Fantastic Four combined, was playable.

Here are some "Marvel Knights"
Doctor Strange
Black Panther
Daredevil
Black Widow (Natalia or Yelena, preferably Natalia)
Punisher (Capcom already made a Punisher arcade with Nick Fury as the second player)
Nick Fury (already playable in Punisher arcade game)
Ghost Rider
Elektra
War Machine (already made playable in MvC's 1 and 2)
Sentry
Luke Cage
Cloak & Dagger
Moon Knight
Shang-Chi
Marvel Boy (don't really like him but he has a fanbase)
Iron Fist

Along with many more. Let's nor forget the neglected members of the Avengers and the tons of unused X-Men (why no Nightcrawler?).There are A LOT of characters to choose from.

If Hank Pym makes it in, no matter if he's Ant-Man, Giant-Man, or just Hank Pym, he WILL pwn.

Here's the TGS Trailers that was closed to the public

It's for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days, Birth By Sleep, and another game called the 3rd Birthday
Nice, thanks for posting the link.

I'm not too excited for 358/2 days. Multiplayer should be fun.

Birth By Sleep looks awesome. They're using some of my favorite worlds. The game looks like it's going to have more Disney interaction like KH 1. Can't wait.

3rd Birthday looks really nice. I'm happy Parasite Eve's getting a sequel.

Maybe i want 358/2 days so much is that i want to be the crap out of heartless with OK&OB

I suppose I should say that I'm not as excited for 358/2 Days than BBS.

I'm still going to purchase each game on the day of it's release. Favorite characters I'm going to use are Roxas and Axel. I still wish they didn't have a thing for each other (sigh).

See, aside from Black Panther and maybe Doctor Strange (and...okay, maybe one or two others), I just think that Marvel's darker side is also the less iconic side. So yeah, more X-Men (Nightcrawler is a must), and an Avenger or two. Throw in the Fantastic Four, more villains, and some fighters from the all the Ultimates that've been made since MvC2, and you have yourself a fine roster.

If Hank Pym makes it in, no matter if he's Ant-Man, Giant-Man, or just Hank Pym, he WILL pwn.
Also this. A million times this.

ANYWAYS

@Kingdom Hearts discussion: Birth by Sleep looks better. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong, but right now the only thing I'm worried about is the camera being shunted back to the shoulder triggers, a la the first Kingdom Hearts. I'm doubly concerned because the PSP's shoulders are just horrible...

If Demyx is playable in 358/2 Days...I will be happy. I know there's co-op, but how many people would wet themselves at the thought of a fully-featured Vs. mode in a Kingdom Hearts game not involving cards? *raises hand*

Characters like Punisher and Daredevil were known about their movies, nobody really knew their stories. Thanks to the movies, now NO ONE takes them seriously. Marvel Knights have gotten the bad end of the ****-stick in movies that make them popular. Remember Ghost Rider?

Ultimate Marvel would be cool to see, although I have a love-hate relationship with the Ultimate Universe.

I skipped it just for the horrible gag-filled commercials (LOL IT'S A FAT GOTH GIRL TALKING ABOUT GHOST RIDER). And I'm glad I did. :bee:

Anyways, even if the movies were good, and the mainstream media cared about Daredevil...I still wouldn't put the more realistic, grim side of Marvel up alongside Capcom, which is almost 100% excess camp and over-the-top entertainment.

Ultimate Marvel would be cool to see, although I have a love-hate relationship with the Ultimate Universe.
I love Ultimates. They're what got me back into Marvel after the whole anime/manga thing got me out of them at the turn of the century. So (in general) the more of them the better, I say.

I think that goes for most everyone.

I'm excited for BBS. I don't own a PSP, but I'll probably get one in the future just for that game. Though I'm kind of uneasy about these Unbirth things. Nomura and the others really need to quit while their ahead with the enemies. Heartless were enough, Nobodies were an interesting addition, but now we're starting to go a little too far.

I'm mildly looking forward to Days (I do own a DS), though I think I would be just as happy reading a plot summary of that game as I would actually playing it. Apparently I didn't catch the same love bug for Org. XIII that everyone else caught. I like Roxas and Axel but I really don't give a flying paupu fruit about the rest of them (including this Xion girl, who has "gaping plot holes ahoy!" written all over her).

And from what I understand, the gameplay for Days is supposed to be questionable due to the DS' button limitations. Really, all I care about is what happens to Roxas anyway.

But I won't be entirely happy until I'm controlling Sora again.

...Wait, those blue things are called "Unbirths?"

...Oh God. If this is true, then Square-Enix is about to publicize the name of a very, very, very disgusting sexual fetish. ...Awesome. :D

I couldn't give two flying Paupu fruits about basically any character in the Kingdom Hearts universe, so just imagine how I feel about this whole thing. :ohwell:

And from what I understand, the gameplay for Days is supposed to be questionable due to the DS' button limitations. Really, all I care about is what happens to Roxas anyway.
This is what I'm really worried about. The controls should be fine, since the DS has the same number of buttons as the PSP (and if you factor in little buttons on the touch screen, then it actually has more), and honestly, controlling 3D games with a D-Pad, while certainly not ideal, is a much better alternative than Square tacking on Phantom Hourglass-styled movement, or indeed, than the PSP's analog "nub".

From hands-on reports out of TGS, apparently it's the camera that's the real problem (in both games). Prepare to flash-back to 2002 again, folks.

I've noticed there are two types of fanbases for KH. Those who think the game is perfect in every way, and those who highly criticize it for story and gameplay but will end up buying it anyway.

I'm...sort of the latter. I really despise the plot of the game, and especially the idea that the guy who thought it up is getting so much freaking space to tell his ridiculous story, over the course of (as of now) 5 games, with more sure to come. There are many other game stories that deserve that treatment more (off the top of my head: Okami).

It also bothers me because so many people like it so much, and I have a sneaking suspicion that they really only like it so much because of it's unrelentingly vagueness and how overwrought it is, coupled with it's myriad Pretty Anime People. I believe the modern shorthand for this state of being is "emo".

ON THE OTHER HAND

I absolutely adore the gameplay. It's the nigh-perfect blend of progress/rewards, player growth, and (especially in FM+'s case) challenge, all held together in a smoothly controlling setup that perfectly blends (most of) the variety of an RPG with the immediacy of an action game. Some people will complain that "all you have to do is mash X", which is true...on Normal. Kingdom Hearts II on Proud Mode is quite nearly my favorite PS2 game of all time, and would be if not for the nonsensical plot.

Note that I'm only speaking of Kingdom Hearts II here--the first game was nowhere near as sublime, and while I enjoyed Chain of Memories' gameplay for what it was, it's not as amazingly fun as the system perfected in KHII.

The overall story has promise, especially with the cast of Disney Villains and Worlds, but has been been dealt with poorly with bad plot-holes and stupid continuity errors. Not to mention most of its fanbase gives the other fans bad a name. They are focusing on tying up the story along with changing gameplay (hopefully) for the better. It's fun but it can be sooo much better off given attention and effort over fan-service (which I don't mind, seeing Tron in there was epic).

I absolutely love Critical Mode on KH II FM+. As I'm doing a level 1 playthrough, I can see some of the depth put into the boss battles. Guard is just too good!

But yeah, I'm of the latter. The KH games are nowhere near perfect as some people think, but I'll play whatever ends up being fun. For some odd reason, Chain of Memories is my favorite KH game. The card system was broken so much that the game was easy, even on the remake's Proud Mode.

I guess I'm more of the latter. But I really don't criticize the gameplay at all (I know it's simple, but it's nowhere near boring, so who cares?), and the only thing that I criticize about the story is the plot holes.

I actually really like the first game for that reason—there were no holes yet, only questions left at the end. In KH2, Nomura started getting way too into all of these new ideas (Nobodies, Organization XIII, Ansem not really being Ansem, etc.) and lost a lot of "the magic" from the first game, raising more questions at the end of the game that may never be answered.

I have hope that in KH3, with Org. XIII officially GONE, we can move on and get back to the stuff that made the original game great. A simpler storyline with not-so-butchered Disney worlds and continually improving gameplay.
