Hey guys!

So recently, I've decided to pick Peach back up again. I used to secondary her back when I first started getting competitive in Project M, but after watching @NOTMalachi play Peach last year December or so, I learned the hard way that she was FAR too technical for my level of experience at the time, so I shelved her for months and started to play Zelda instead.

Well, months have passed, and I've deemed myself skillful enough to actually use her again, so that's what I've been doing. I've spent the last three weeks touching up on ATs for Peach, including glide tossing and FCs (really lament the fact that she has a piss poor backwards glide toss :(), but that was before these videos were posted up.

Here are two videos of Peach gameplay. It was before I started to implement the ATs into my gameplay, but advice is still advice, regardless of the timing of the video. If you have some advice for me, I am all open ears.

Me (Raz) v. RiBB | Alti All Star Vs. The timestamp for when I played Peach is 8:42.

Me (Raz) v. Royals (Sheik) I had a dumb SD at the beginning, and I could have won the match, but I was caught by Sheik's sweetspotted upsmash and that KO'd me.

Thanks in advanced, guys!

Things I noticed from watching your match against the sheik:

Your turnip game was pretty sub-optimal--you seemed to just throw them from the ground and get nothing out of it in neutral--I like to throw them while approaching from the air so that I can capitalize off of their shielding the turnip.

You also had some sheik specific problems: You should be DI'ing her down throw down and away to avoid a followup--if you have quick reactions you can react to a back-throw mixup. Second, you should be grabbing ledge against her recovery because of the landing lag on her up-b. Last, you shouldn't stay in the air for prolonged amounts of time or try to challenge her air-to-air (examples at 1:16, 1:57, 1:59, etc.)--she'll win that fight unless you're under her.

Besides those, like you said, you really need to use FCs--they're a game-changer because they give you frame advantage on shield, and can be super fast and lagless in the case of instant FC nair.

By the way, was your holding shield to prevent her from landing onstage at 1:29 on purpose? That was sick if it was!

Thanks @ D Dad?!? for the helpful advice. Unfortunately, that was not intended, but it got the job done anyways.

I have more recent footage of my Peach gameplay against @Phresh123, who's probably the best Ice Climbers in the city of New York. I managed to utilize a bit of what I learned, i.e. practical implementations of FCs and patience, but was only able to secure victory twice. Any advice on what I should continue to focus on/ do as a Peach?

From what I've seen in your videos, your movement with Peach is very slow. I'd recommend practicing your float canceled aerials with nair, fair, and bair. You should also practice your dash dancing and wavedashes too for additional movement options. You need to have better control over her is what I'm trying to get at.

First match, double laser blades O_o

For the first match, it seemed like you didn't convert to defensive play at all. Yoshi had the momentum for the entirety of the match, yet you continued to engage in blind, fruitless advances. Like it was told to me above, use turnips as a basis to start floating. If they shield, follow up with heavy aerial pressure: Peach has a fantastic shield pressure game. Don't be afraid of taking a step back and relying on turnips if the going gets tough. It's a completely valid option and strategy and even the best Peaches will smother you in a shower of vegetables.

Congrats on winning the second match! You used dash attacks poorly for this match. The first instance, you had collided with a shield, which is really really bad for Peach. If you hit a shield with DA, then you are open to all sorts of punishment. I know this from experience as a Zelda main, since they have identical DAs with similar properties but subtle differences. DA is great as a part of a combo, as it pops the opponent up, leading to fantastic aerial follow ups, but you should rarely use it on neutral. Peach has better options in neutral than simply DA.

You nearly destroyed that Yoshi's shield! Great job in keeping up the pressure.

One of the major issues you had in this match was your fairly predictable attempts at recovering from your opponent's onslaught. You are Peach, a floaty character with a float and a really high double jump and fantastic aerial game. Unless your opponent has armor in their aerials like Bowser, powerful disjoints like Marth, or projectiles that can be thrown upwards or sideways, your recovery should, for the most part, be hard to predict and hard to punish. You should be laughing at your opponents flopped attempts at uairing you at the exact moment you did a float or double jump.

You perform the best at the last match, utilizing everything I had just talked about. Unfortunately, Yoshi performed better, going for better options when the situation called for it.

@ D Dad?!?

Here is an example of two high skilled players of both Peach and Yossy, @NOTMalachi and Shiny Zubat. Both are considered some of the best with their characters, and you should definitely compare what they did, versus what you and your Yossy opponent did.

Hey guys,

I recently got a set recorded, and because that's a are occurrence in my where I play, I've been combing it to look for bad habits as well as general things I could do better. If anyone would be willing to take a look and give me any input that comes to mind, I would be grateful.

Things I've taken note of so far:

-I pull too many turnips. Sometimes I get punished for pulling them, but more often I incorrectly miss out on a punish because I opt to pull a turnip

-Full hop turnip throw is not getting me much, except when I use it to blow up a mine

-After the above, I tend to go into a high float, which isn't getting me much. I should float lower in general

-I should do more instant fc nairs, instead of floating dairs

-Between his stocks, my plan of jumping off stage and dj throwing the turnip back, is predictable and not that good if he's not jumping out after me

-If he's coming down from the top blastzone, there's no reason to float below him; better to take the ground/platform and follow there

-Pay more attension to his mines

-If I spotdodge his grenades, they'll fly past and I won't have to worry about the explosion because it won't bounce in my face

-Never float above a grounded Snake unless you're actively hitting him

Tryna pick Peach up again. I got classes, but I'll be back later to offer critique on the other vids waiting too.

I googled around but couldn't find a way to timestamp hitbox vods ): Set I'm interested in should start around 2:12:00 or so. Basic Peach vs Marth stuff, but idk the Melee matchups very well
